my fav FD driver last 10 years
When i first grabbed a used tire it was just a memento of the event, but found it to be a good chair for the day, and then at home. Softer and indestructible compared to plastic chairs. Maybe not the classiest lawn furniture, but i think about FD every time I look at one.
I approve of this explanation.

Listening to this podcast after he left fd is interesting towards the end he said he isn't ready to leave or going to leave anytime soon i wonder what changed
1:55:12 I was watching a race at NOLA Motorsports Park and thought how it would be a PHENOMENAL drift track. There is a technical section which exactly what Chelsea is talking about.
There is also a carting track that would be extremely technical. Everything is well situated to accept an easily accessible paddock too.
We think so too and we looked at it. Scheduling and radius to RA is the big challenge, along with interest in the market. We already have two events in the south, basically.

Interesting insight on the future of FD from Chelsea. As a fan of the sport and FD I respectfully disagree with him though. I understand where he's coming from, but I thought that would be a backwards progression of the sport from a driver's perspective. I would have thought drivers that have been doing this for a long time would get bored of constantly driving at a lower grip level and a low speed and the driver's progression will come from the engineering side of things. I always think of FD like F1 where F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport engineering and the R&D that goes into the cars to make them grip better and to make them faster is what pushes the drivers each year. What you (Chelsea) is suggesting is great for Prospec and I feel like that's what Prospec is for. I feel like what FD needs to be is the F1 of drifting - it needs to be the series with the most R&D to push the engineering to the next limits of drifting. It needs to be the most innovative, it needs to be the fastest, it needs to have the greatest cars otherwise it isn't a world class leading event. FD needs to be a showcase of how far drifting has come where someone can look at drifting now and compare that to 10 years ago and go "wow, we've really come a long way" whereas I feel like the direction that Chelsea states brings the sport back to same grip levels and speeds as drifting 10 years ago which I would have thought for a driver is boring and for a fan is not that exciting either.
I honestly think even if tey did reduce tire size it would only be a few years before we are back to the speeds we have now. This last gen of F1 cars are slower than last gen but i dont think it will be long before they are faster.

I want an FD event in Charlotte NC at Charlotte motor speedway. With the infield road course u can get a drift course made very easily

@@formuladrift to that is just stupid to have because if you are able to have 2 different events that are close to each like Charlotte and ATL you would be able to draw more ppl to them because they go see one and then the next one is with a few hours drive they say let's go there as well. A win win for both the track and FD
@@bigkorn16 Radius clauses are pretty standard for large venues, especially one like RA who wants to protects their event. RA is a co-promoted event, so that is a standard thing in the industry for events that are configured like that, and it's because what you said it not entirely true. People make choices about their expenses and when you have events so close, especially if they are in the same general time window, which they would have to be, you will cannibalize your event(s). That is actually well-known in the industry. It's been in our deal for all 20 years and you can imagine why. RA was the very first venue to accept drifting and they also protect us at their own venue so it goes both directions.
BRING FD BACK TO SUMMIT POINT!
I think the best new tracks would be the Vegas strip and the F1 track in Austin Texas those would be God tier

One quick thing I noticed on the intro, when you listen to the intro with audio only, it's just Jarod yelling incoherently for 5-10 seconds. With video it's great, but audio only in the truck it is a very strange experience.

What it needs is a higher treadwear a True 240 Maybe bump up the lighter cars tire width a little if not.
Cars should be able to do a (First to 2 wins or best of 3) & refresh tires for sudden death/OMT. If win/lose/draw
Obv still burn them off instantly with unusable power
Also you guys should be allowed to sell FD scrubs to your local Drifters but I know liabilities
A lot comes down to what the Tire brands can and will produce in bulk, but the higher treadwear is interesting. I am sure the selling of scrubs from drivers paying for tires does happen. That best of 3 is also an interesting thought.

i've always felt the burden behind Denofa discourse, meaning competitive drift is NEVER for fun, ok i understand that JR coinfrased the "FUN HAVER", but its not for fun im pretty sure, hell, even Naoki Nakamura wich drifted his whole life inside and out of tracks doesnt do Pro stuff for fun, by the way he is the real and original Fun Haver.
travel across the country, sleeping bad, maneuvering sponsors interests, away from family, forcing the smile face to look good on cameras plus the politics from behind the curtains im positive its not for fun.
even drift week its not for fun nowdays, to be strong armed to say that you can do 50 laps on 1 set of tires? and the rest of the time to listem and nod for the dude saying how his model of business is better than FD, even though they have nothing in common.
dont get me wrong, i really like watching closely FD and other competitive drift championships, but one must know how to separate categories and enjoy it the most. Final Bout and Super D for instance born from the original BMI format, focused on fun, and many other soukoukai kind of events, thats were the "joy of drifting" is at.
Yes, at the end of the day, this is your job. We are here if you want to be a professional at the highest level and there is a time for coolness for sure. What’s equally cool is living your dream for a living, buying a house, taking care of your loved ones, being the next Carol Shelby (Gittin). That’s pretty cool too.
