Keith the late Duncan McGillivray told me once that it was the sea around Islay that inspired the colour of their bottles when they reopened Bruichladdich. You have to see it for yourself once we get back to normal.
One day, I'll overhear you squeak as you try to walk into that beautiful, but freezing Atlantic water. That would be something to aim for my friend. Stay safe and let's make that happen.

Enormous congrats Roy on this labour of love to two great mates, the whisky folk of Islay and all those enthusiasts watching. These videos just keep on getting better! I'm sure anyone who's been to Islay would've found his or her heart beating a little faster as we entered the holy sacristies of Bunna's Warehouse No 9 and Ian MacArthur's private den at Lagavulin. That sharing of drams and the conviviality of meeting up with other folk who love to talk about them is really what the heart of the whisky experience is all about. I think you nailed it, as Bart might say. But then you also took us off to Kilchoman and down to the beach at Machir Bay with those gorgeous sand dunes. What a glorious beach that is if you're not being pelted with rain. And that touch of melancholy at the end as we realize that the parting of friends really is such sweet sorrow. The music may have been a tad too loud at that stage but it touched the heart regardless. Enormous thanks for this wonderful piece of work and all the editing that had to go into it. And greetings to Scott and Bart whose conversations are still echoing in my ears long after the credits ran. Cheers!

I’m imagining a wonderful trip to Scotland next Summer, 2021, once this insanity is behind us, and making a pilgrimage to Bunnahabhain while soaking up the natural beauty and enjoying a dram from the distillery. Fantastic! Best part of this video was when my wife caught a glance and said "Wow, that's beautiful, we should go". Then she saw a distillery pop up followed by an "Oh no". I was just in Islay last week. There were only 3 distilleries open for tours due to Covid times. I went to Ardnahoe. Fantastic tour. A lot of the gift shops for the distilleries are open…
Roy, Wonderfull video. Watched it yesterday and brought back many memories of our trip there last year. We toasted our 30th anniversary last night with a 12 yo PX sherry butt from Bunnahabhain Warehouse 9 tour. The interaction at the Lagavulin warehouse tasting with Ian and the Dummies was awesome.

Top class. There’s a few things clear to see here; the absolute love for all of Islay, the special friendship of all on this trip, and by no means least - the water of Islay (sometimes). What’s not so clear for everyone to see here is the selflessness and energy/time it would have taken to set all of these shots up capturing this snapshot of a magical trip. Needless to say the many many MANY hours of editing. You’re a good un Roy. Superb.
I was meant to be in Campbeltown this weekend, was really looking forward to Springbank, Glen Scotia, Glengyle and Cadenhead's (warehouse) tastings/tours... all cancelled :'( -Ahh well, always another time - stay safe everyone!

Great video. The distraction is good. Unfortunately, we are looking at the prospect of missing out on Speyside in May due to C 19, but still keeping the plans in visiting Islay in October. We all need to plan beyond this bump in the road. Cheers.

On my bucket list, I actually grew up on an island unlike most Americans. You do feel like you're somewhere else and often the "islanditis" is a very real thing. Must be part of why I have never been very good with socializing or driving long distances.

Roy, Wonderfull video. Watched it yesterday and brought back many memories of our trip there last year. We toasted our 30th anniversary last night with a 12 yo PX sherry butt from Bunnahabhain Warehouse 9 tour. The interaction at the Lagavulin warehouse tasting with Ian and the Dummies was awesome.

Top class. There’s a few things clear to see here; the absolute love for all of Islay, the special friendship of all on this trip, and by no means least - the water of Islay (sometimes). What’s not so clear for everyone to see here is the selflessness and energy/time it would have taken to set all of these shots up capturing this snapshot of a magical trip. Needless to say the many many MANY hours of editing. You’re a good un Roy. Superb.

Great video. The distraction is good. Unfortunately, we are looking at the prospect of missing out on Speyside in May due to C 19, but still keeping the plans in visiting Islay in October. We all need to plan beyond this bump in the road. Cheers.

On my bucket list, I actually grew up on an island unlike most Americans. You do feel like you're somewhere else and often the "islanditis" is a very real thing. Must be part of why I have never been very good with socializing or driving long distances.

Thanks James. It wasn't intentional. Frustrating as the frame rate judder didn't show before the export. Hey ho. I used a Mavic Air shot in a cinepro flat profile.
