I decided to repair this old leaking trolley jack and give it a new lease of life. Hope you enjoy the restoration. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below on what you might like to see next.
I worked at Charlie Brown tyre and exhaust fast fit garage over 30 years ago!! We sold the exact same jack as this from the retail shop for around £8.99 so yes it most definitely could be over 30 years old! Great video thanks
👏👏👏👍 Looks better than new. Please take care of yourself so that we can all enjoy watching you bring unwanted and discarded items back to life. Your breathing had me a little worried! Much love and respect L
This is better than new. Zinc coating was cool to see, really lifts those parts up. Also the restored drill was put to use. You cannot stall that baby easily.
great job, here in the U.S. a jack like that can be had for around 20 dollars still. i have a couple of the older little jacks for riding mowers and atv,s
Very nice indeed. I have 2 of this ize jack under my workbench. Might be time to give them a new lease of life. Looks like you have had a revamp of your workshop too. Well done, more room to work. keep them videos coming.
Hello Martin! Are you sure you did not buy the Trolley in the store !!! hahaha Wonderful job, I love it !!! May I wish you a Very Happy New Year, also your Wife and Children and Grandchildren !!! I am looking forward to beautiful video's of you in the coming year ....... See you soon!
Brilliant job Martin. These little jacks are nice and light and really handy for just doing a quick job. It might be a cheap one but why waste it when you can do your magic for very little cost and save it.
I've got the exact same jack. It jacks up then drops very slowly. I suspected that the oil seals are going on the ram. After watching this video, that's all I'll be doing. I don't have a zinc or acid bath or any of the other cleansing and sealing baths. Yours looks fantastic though, I must admit. It looks like I'll be investing in an O ring kit. Thanks for sharing the video, great job by the way.
I would have been so tempted to paint it a strange colour, like pink or purple, then 'mates' who borrow it wouldn't forget to bring it back. It did need the front wheels doing the same as the back wheels, either way around.
I wuit loaning out tools a long time ago. When they come back broke... that ends. Same goes for family. I dont let my tools leave the yard. Never again.
...you cheating us....the last one is a new trolley jack ;-) It ever makes me fun to watch your restore videos. Happy and healthy new year. Awesome Martin !
Thank you for posting this tutorial I was about to bin my trolley jack because it doesn’t lift as good as it should do you have a link to where you can buy the seals kit
Another beauty Martin, came out fantastic. While I love all your vids I find something quite therapeutic about just hearing tools being used .... maybe it’s just my inner weirdo !! Love & best wishes to you and all your family for 2019 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tom
I've attached the tube for pumping the trolley jack directly to it by using electrical installation pipe clips, made from plastic. I think you can also use these tool holders, shaped like an open-ended bonbon. Just as a suggestion :)
Great job Martin. I've got a leaky one that's about 40 years old - I'll have a go too. Although not sure where to get main piston seal if it's knackered. Happy New Year.
i have the same trolley jack. mine doesn't go up all the way. i have it almost fully deconstructed but i might need help with the rest. could i prehaps send it to you?
Good detailed video, seemed long and drawn out, lack of music or voice over interaction. Thanks for sharing. I would like to see more about setting up the chemical and plating baths you used.
I got the same jack, I think its a chineese made thing. Always hated it but handy when its the only thing you got :-) Always wondered how it was build, and now i know. You got the finest one in the world now :-D Great video!
Ese tornillo es el regulador de levante de el gato ....se ajusta en la fabrica y no hay que tocarlo porque puede quedar mal ajustado el gato y es muy peligroso....
Nice video I have the same jack. Where did the ball bearings come from. I tipped my jack over and they both dropped out I can not find where they com from now.
Just picked up a very similar jack to this the other day, now thinking i might do a restore on it, tho it does have a couple of chunks out of one of the front wheels, still round just narrow in a couple of places, thought i might build them up with weld and grind back.
Was really hoping to see the sequence on the 2 ball bearings and spring, you seemed to skip this part and went straight into screwing that particular screw in around 21:02. Nice rebuild tho....
I have a very similar jack that has had the safety valve removed and replaced; however, the setting was not recorded and the valve was simply put back in. how can I restore the safety valve to a proper setting?
Hola como van las bolillas tanto del bombin como los despurgues y que medidas son del mismo gato que restauraron por favor me pueden indicar con un video gracias

Happens too often.

Like a chemistry lesson lol.
I would have been so tempted to paint it a strange colour, like pink or purple, then 'mates' who borrow it wouldn't forget to bring it back.
It did need the front wheels doing the same as the back wheels, either way around.
Great idea... I think I'll do that with my jack :D
I wuit loaning out tools a long time ago. When they come back broke... that ends. Same goes for family. I dont let my tools leave the yard. Never again.

Here's my set up video on my other channel th-cam.com/video/0vgZ31klMVo/w-d-xo.html
Nice video... I got two to do and they look worse than that... 19 spanner does good too.
I have exactly the same model it' lives in the garden under a bush and still works fine 😉 time for a bit of TLC perhaps
good videos. You could possibly create videos with the various baths you use for zinc plating. best regards from denmark
Piece of art - work and video (apart from nose breathing :-). Someone can sing, someone can this ...
Enjoy the videos. Please take care of yourself [labored breathing] so there will be more to come.
Just a bit blocked up in the sinuses.
RetroHax in all your videos?!😃
@@PinballSweden lol he 'a'nt' that bad😊
@@bizarreandbrilliant Happens to a lot of us.
PinballSweden wtf - I’ve been reading these comments with dismay. Cruelty is such a hideous look. Get a -grip.

I new it! I new it!
Pillar drill with the wire brush in it 😋
I’d a feeling it turned out too well for Sharon’s Christmas present 🎁😂😂
Haha, well spotted Paul lol
Looks great Martin, I’m surprised the oil had sludge in, I suppose it accumulates moisture over time. Cheers.
Excelente trabalho.
Holaa!
Hi Martin, Happy new Year to you & yours, another cracking vid as always, ATB Wayne.
And to you too Wayne.
This ain't no chick flick.
All nice stories like this video have happy endings.
Thanks for putting this up! Sniff
