Bisinda Hill and Maa Nachanchandi Temple, Bankura, Travel Guide

Bisinda is only about 5 hours drive from Kolkata. A relatively lesser known destination in Bankura district, Bisinda Pahar is essentially a hillock surrounded by forest. There is a temple atop the hill known as Maa Nachanchandi Temple. Although it is known as temple, there is no brick and mortar structure here. The idol, in fact two of them, are set under open sky with only a tree for cover. Both the idols are made of stone and seemed to be quite old. One idol seemed to be mounted on tiger and another on lion. This gives impression that idols are worshipped as Devi Durga.
The Bisinda hill, though small in comparison to other hills in Bankuta, is beautiful. A short and rather easy climb to the top offers a spectacular 360 degree of the surrounding countryside. On a clear day other hills like Susunia, Biharinath, Koro, Garhpanchakot are visible from the top.
This place is great for a short weekend trip. Maa Nachanchandi guest house at the base of the hill offers basic accommodation. Currently they have only four rooms and at the time of writing this, none had air-conditioning.
The USP is the beautiful surrounding and the calm atmosphere. A great place to break free from the rigorous routine of life to sooth your mind and body. The guest house is run by local people and they are very helpful and courteous. Food is prepared by them and you can have some simple but great Bengali food. There are no restaurants or other amenities nearby. So it is better to carry your own provision. Else it's a ten km drive to nearest town Gangajalghati.
If you go there in winter they will get you fresh Khejur Ros or Date Palm syrup early in the morning and Mahua, the local liquor, in the evening. Desi Chicken marinated and covered in Sal Leaves and marinated on wood fire can be arranged on request

@@sagar1969m Yes. you can consider an unidirectional mic of Rode with a dead cat cover. Or you can select wireless mics , which can be attached to your pocket / collar. The dead cat will remove the wind interference and unidirectional mics give you sound from your direction only and won't catch other ambient sounds. On the other hand, wireless mics are very close to mouth.
