  • I am trying to mentally cope with these new concepts that are associated with autism and my new role as speech therapist while having no idea what I'm doing.

I think when we first get the diagnosis that our children have autism we all go through the thoughts how can I help them, I don't know how. We used a few hand signs more, all done, open.there are many programs out there. Read to him, talk talk and talk some more. We put pictures on the fridge water juice which one do you want point. My grandson does better with scheduled examples we put pictures up eating breakfast, then get dressed, brush teeth etc.. Good luck mom you got this. One day at a time. Remember to breathe.

I’d suggest finding coopers voice blog. Her son has come so so far. Also your son isn’t just autism..that’s just one thing about him. Every person with autism is different..no two cases are alike. Learn to see the joy..my son is five and is nonverbal. He does say mama and some words

@@sarahinstitches I read it multiple times a week..she also has a Instagram and a Facebook called coops troops where fellow autism moms chat. You really need a support system to get through this. It’s not all doom and gloom..my son is potty trained at least and I thought that’d never happen!
