I’m with Birm too. Lot’s of concerns about D and our RBs. Plus, if you ignore the score and just look at stats, Penn State totally dominated and their defense was elite.
Yeaah but they were playing Indiana.. They're expected to dominate on both sides AND win.
So can we talk about how good Steele Chambers looked on Saturday?
He looked better than master Teague and Trey Sermon
True fans are always worried, I get worried for those weird games to. We have a track record for weird games, and our defense didn't look completely sound.
I feel this is the game we see our run game get good(This is just my gut feeling). We have so much potential for RB. Master Teague, Trey Sermon, Steele GODDAMN Chambers. We are loaded there it's just that is was the first game in a while, and they were a little rusty.
Our biggest concern is the defense. Can we cover good teams recievers? Can we get pressure to the backfield? All of these things make me concerned for the Bucks.
But games like against Penn State is where we find names. 2018 was Chris Olave and Chase young. Last year. Garret Wilson. I really hope that someone on the defense can step up and become a very good player.

Trey Sermon was descent against Nebraska. He was not explosive when hitting the holes. And he missed the opening twice...almost looking skeptical or confused. Go back and look at some of his options. He'll be ok though. I like him. I like all of our RV's. I can't wait for Crowley to return. Chambers just need more reps.

Teams are going to attack the Buckeyes defense by taking advantage of the linebackers in a variety of ways.
They have better linebackers on the second team. Hope the coaches wake up.
Not worried about Master Teague. But I would like to put loud recordings of Gus Johnson slowly enunciating "Ma--sterrrrr Teeeeeaaaagggue on thestadium PA systems at every game he is on the team. Go Bucks !
Need to zone in on stopping Sean Clifford from running all over us. He is not afraid to run. The D-line needs to get some big hits on him and make him scared to run.
don't under estimate any game, it wasn't to long ago we had a nightmare (2017) 24-55 Iowa and (2018) 20-49 Purdue lets not get arrogate Buckeye boys. Go Bucks!

The Olave sandwich was not bloody or a head injury then OSU has a blessing in disguise... Not to turn this into a Halloween Scare!!!...Justin has to run only when pressured from now on!!! If they have a lop side game on this Saturday at PENN ST then put in a another QB for a while so Justin becomes mystery!!!
I initially was nervous as well Birm, but after seeing the lack of skill players on offense for Penn St, as well as watching Clifford make multiple stupid mistakes passing the ball against Indiana, I feel better about this game. Plus I am confident Penn St. won’t be able to hold the Buckeyes under 30 points, and they would be hella lucky themselves to hit that mark. Ohio State wins handily on Saturday. Go Bucks!

Teague hasn’t run for more than 3.5 ypc in over a year. 7 carries for 9 yds vs Clemson, 12 carries for 29 yds vs Michigan, etc. He doesn’t have the juice, we know Teague has no wiggle and is not elite. I don’t care if he runs over Rutgers. Steele Chambers showed more burst than the other 2 RB’s combined.
If it continues then I think Trey Sermon will take over at least but I hope Chambers gets more chances too.
Hopefully Miyan Williams get some touches in that backfield. Buckeye nation going to see what hitting that hole look like

Stop BULLYING Birm, Austin! He has reason to be concerned. The Nitts are a wounded animal. They're gonna come out with their God Damned hair on fire (Franklin is bald--I understand that) because this game will define their season. BUCKEYES need to come out swinging! This will NOT be an easy game.
Pass blocking was a solid A. Run blocking? yikes. C- at best. I was hoping the O line was going to come out hungrier and meaner than that. I was super excited to see Trey Sermon carry the rock and I found myself wanting to see CO2 and Garrett Wilson eat what Justin Fields gives them.

James Franklin is actually a really good coach. He has been more effective then Jim Harbaugh. We must not sleep on Penn State. They maybe coming off a loss, but the have something to prove!

I agree with Birm. A lot of weird stuff happen at night whenever we play penn state. We always have a more talented team than penn state, but they always play us tough.

Clifford will get his plays against OSU, just like every other mobile quarterback. They might finish within 10-14 points.
I just feel like we are young and almost needed them to beat up on us so we can learn and grow and be the best damn team
I'm not worried about Penn St, why, who has the better QB ? Fields ,check, best WR's ? Olave, Wilson, Jigba, Fleming, Williams , double check, best Oline ? OSU by far, check, Defense maybe a wash, at best. OSU by 20

GO BUCKS!!! I too have some fear of a pissed off PSU and a very vulnerable defense for the Bucks... and I sure do not want to have to depend on the QB for the run game. I suspect PSU can cover receivers better than NB. So I am not thinking Birm is wacked out. But I hope we both are!! Lol

Theres always a "weakest" unit in a team's defence. Our "weakest" unit is still tougher than anyone else's "strongest" unit. We do this.
Birm is a look alike for the late Astronaut Gus Grissom. Look it up. (Very sadly, I was in the Blockhouse the day in 1967 he was killed on the pad along with White & Chaffee; Gus, a genuine American hero, was on track to be the first man on the moon).
I believe that Gus Grissom was from Peru Indiana which is only 70 miles from Wapokeneta Ohio Neil Armstrong’s hometown.
I am also hopping that Nebraska is actually pretty good! But I do think your comments on this first game syndrome.

Run game will be fine. First game with limited practice bc of Covid. Dobbins had a bad first game last year too. I do agree that Chambers should get more of a look tho, he looks best.
