Yeah they are THAT good ... I draw my conclusions from a lifetime of music - I'm 65 -- I've also been actually playing and singing for 50+ years .I've seen and heard 1,000s of bands and singers .. I always hope the young folks, Understand just how special these girls are - when the 5 of them are together it's magic. I put their albums on the shelf with, Pet Sounds, The Beatles, Heart, M Jackson, EWF, Queen, The Motown Greats, Zepplin... Linda Ronstadt - it's a long and diverse list ... I've listened to and enjoy K-pop, but RV has really transcended. Here in the US people are hearing BTS and now Twice ... I'm giving them Red Velvet B-Sides and they are saying "Why are they not on these TV shows ? IDK Love and Light -- I look forward to seeing their Adventure continue for years to come.
it took me a couple of times too but after i tried to listen to chill kill without the mv distracting me. it finally grew on me and never left my head since then. it's so beautiful and the girls' voices are so gorgeous. the catchy hook for me, weirdly, it's joy's part at the bridge, 'until the end, end of time' which haunted me in my sleeps for the next few days lol
This may be a stretch but in Chill Kill verses they used the La Folia chord progression which was heavily used in classical music. It's not sampling but in my mind it's similar to FMR and Birthday.
I got the song from the first listen and I loved it. The album wise, it’s a no skip album for me but def not my favorite since they just have too many better ones. My top three albums are still TPRV, FMR, and Birthday. honorable mentions are the red and TRF day 1

It got that dark but at the same time cheery vibe. A bop in the first listen for me ! (Kinda flop for scenery for me tho 💀)
Red velvets songs have always been like this. They are so unique and they push so many boundaries with each album i always find myself not really liking their new music at first, then it grows on me with each listen and i become obsessed!! Honestly haven’t experienced this with any other artist, and I love how this shows that their music is truly different from what we traditionally hear.
as a long time rv fan I've been having a tough time with this album 😭 it's going to need to sit for a while. totally agree with the Taylor Swift similarities on will I ever see you again. I had very high expectations as well and just miss the Janet Jackson vibes as well... but SM will just do what SM does
