You said "overhead cam.". I think you meant " overhead valve." My Dad had this car. He said he wished he would have kept the Studebaker.

Ford never publicly referred to it as a "Fairlane 500 Galaxie", just GALAXIE. Find some period advertising if you don't believe me.

Err...except for this Ford Galaxie is very clearly marked with 'Fairlane 500' on the trunk lid!🙄

@@starhope9630 I realize that, but what you don't want to accept is the fact that Ford never ADVERTISED it or sold it as "Fairlane 500 Galaxie", just GALAXIE, as there was a "plain" Fairlane 500 that had a different back window and much narrower rear corner posts. Most 59 Fords came out in September 1958, but the Galaxie came out in January/February of 59. The 1960 and 61 Galaxie did NOT say Fairlane 500 anywhere on the car, although I used to see a 61 that said Fairlane 500 on the front fenders, but Galaxie on the trunk lid around the area in my Aunt's house. It was a Galaxie, as it had that same Thunderbird-style back window. The Fairlane 500 that year, and 1960 as well, had a big back window like the one found on the 61 - 63 T-Birds.

@@jamesbosworth4191In 1959 the 'Galaxie' was the highest trim level of the Ford Fairlane 500 model...even though the Galaxie was to later become its own model.
So as the car in this video is a 1959 Ford Galaxie - it is indeed also a Fairlane 500.
I'm already aware of the different roof of the regular 1959 Ford Fairlane 500...as my family have owned one of those for many years.
Did you know that Ford Australia continued to use the 1959 Fairlane 500 again in 1960 and 1961...and just trimmed it with parts from a Canadian 1959 Ford Meteor.

@@starhope9630 Technically you are correct, but Ford never referred to it as such, neither in literature nor in advertising, just GALAXIE and alluded to it's having "Thunderbird Elegance", and yes I am aware that Ford Australia used our models for more than one year at a time. Are you aware that Ford of Canada never referred to the Meteor as a FORD Meteor, as it was sold by Mercury dealers, not Ford dealers, despite being a retrimmed Ford. Canadian Ford dealers got the Monarch, a retrimmed Merc. I am 69 years old, so I remember these cars as new cars, and, as I was a car freak from day one, I also remember the advertisements, including those in National Geographic. NONE of them said "Fairlane 500 Galaxie", just GALAXIE.

@@jamesbosworth4191 Dude...it's totally irrelevant whether Ford chose to advertise the fact that the 1959 Ford Galaxie was from the Fairlane 500 model range - as they already had put a big honkin 'Fairlane 500' emblem set on the trunk lid.
Somehow your supposed all knowing mind has failed to perceive that Ford generally don't put Fairlane 500 emblems on a car they've produced that actually isn't one.
So although you may be 69 years old and seem to think you know everything...it's obvious that you don't, and can't accept when you're wrong.
You probably just did a bunch of research on the internet about the Meteor from Canada - and are just pretending like it's information you've had all along.
By the way...I'm a long time contributor to an automotive restoration magazine - and have a lot more knowledge than you ignorantly assume!🙄
