There is more and more jobs out here, many banking and tech jobs and now we are seeing an uptake in the oil and gas sector which will significantly impact the overall demand for jobs. What field are you in? Have you been looking through LinkedIn? There is always plenty of postings on there. In terms of weather, as I mentioned in my video, Alberta and Calgary are a dry climate so -40 (which may happen for a 1-2 weeks in the coldest months) feels more like -10 weather in Ontario because of your humid climate. I've been to ON many times during the winter months, and I would say your rainy/winter days are colder than ours because we have sunshine most of the time and dry climate, the cold fronts don't feel as cold. Hello monika just a quick question which one is better for international students Calgary or edmonton for example part time jobs, can students afford house or rent house etc..
Hi Mohamed, thanks for your comment and inquiry. I guess it depends what you are looking for in terms of jobs. Edmonton will have more government jobs since I this the capital of the province but Calgary is really seeing a rise and increase in tech and energy. Calgary might be a little more expensive since we are seeing a boom in our economy so low inventory of housing just means that demand is there and prices are higher than normal. If you are looking at investing in real-estate though, that is definitely a big plus out in Southern Alberta. In my opinion, there are jobs available for anyone really determined and motivated to find one! Hope this helps
This is more a travel blog then a real estate promotion. Calgary has moderate weather, not as cold or windy and not as hot either as places just a couple of hundred kilometers away. Southern Alberta is hot and windy in the summer. Banff has two seasons winter and summer because of the high elevation. Red Deer has has a clear path to the Columbia Ice fields, which creates it's own weather. Edmonton is cold in the winter and is too faraway from the mountains to get chinook conditions. Calgary gets less than 10 days of over +30 C weather a year. Calgary has zero political representation and government jobs but a good place to retire or raise a family. Also you could feel isolated in Calgary if BC closes the provincial border or your not vaxed and not allowed to travel on planes, trains or buses.
Hi Saqi, thank you for watching and for your question. There are many great places to live within Calgary, but it will be dependant on budget, and what sorts of things you are looking for? The NE side of the city has many amenities related to East Indian cultural including the Sanatan Hindu Cultural Society and Dashmesh Cultural Centre. There's reasons why Alberta's don't move to bc. Why should our housing become those prices. They should tax anyone not living in the current area x2.
Thank you for your response and feedback. I think that you offer some valid points. Albertans and Calgarians have gone through some recessions over the last few years/decade though, so to be able to see this uptake in real-estate excites many who have finally maybe been able to make some money on their existing property, and could upgrade to something bigger/more desirable. It is definitely making it challenging for buyers right now, but patience is key and the right house always comes up when we give it time. Its not normal for find a house in a week, so not sure why people are feeling like they need to now. With the ban that is coming up for foreigners federally in the next couple of weeks. that may slow things down a little, but definitely won't impact those from BC or ON. Plus, interest rates increasing, will also impact the market going forward. Thank you for your time and for commenting a giving us your opinion. I really appreciate it :)
no thanks ... if you have a decent job and paid off property in Toronto or Vancouver there is no reason to move to Calgary. Toronto is the cultural and financial centre of Canada and Vancouver is gorgeous with the mountains and ocean. I have been to Vancouver and Victoria 5 times so far and the only place I would move to is Victoria, my favorite place in Canada. there is a reason that Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria real estate is way more expensive than Calgary and it will stay that way. moving to Calgary is good for first time home buyers who can't afford the Toronto & Vancouver real estate prices. I won't live anywhere that can snow 10 months of the year like in Calgary.
Thanks for your feedback. Everyone has there likes and dislikes. I personally wouldn’t live in Toronto because of the factory/industrial feel of the city and the traffic is horrendous. I don’t like humid climates, it’s either too hot or too cold. For Vancouver though beautiful, I wouldn’t be able to handle the overcast and rain. When you’re used to sunshine all the time, it really takes toll on your mood.
@DAVID Y visited Calgary in September. nice city, friendly people but not for me. keep your snow you had yesterday David while some flowers are budding here along with green grass in Toronto
Hi Fred, thanks for your comment. If you’re taking a bus and c-train from any part of the city it can take 30min to get to downtown but if you’re attempting to go from one side of the city to another, crossing downtown to do so it can definitely take more, though two hours is a little on the high side. What took 2 hours for you, just curious? Thanks!
From a Calgarian who recently moved to Vancouver: 1. Vancouver’s suburbs has cheaper housing. 2. Vancouver’s gas prices are higher but the transit system there is very efficient and you drive less as most of your destinations are closer. 3. He will take the rain over snow/cold. 4. Vancouver is a world destination for vacationers. 5. Everything is more expensive in Calgary except for housing and gas. 6. Calgary is boring. 7. Calgary is redneck country. 8. He gets asked constantly why is there an electrical cord hanging out his car’s radiator. 9. Vancouver has mountains, Pacific Ocean and is next door to the USA border.
Thanks for your input Tiger! I appreciate the honesty and feedback. To each their own forsure, but I love Calgary (now I live on an acreage in the Foothills which I adore even more) and would agree with some but not all of your points. I’m glad you found a place you love even more!
1. Yes, the lower mainland is more than just Vancouver. 2. This, people talk about Gas being cheaper here...well, you won't need it as much there. With one transit card you can ride a bus, a train, and a boat. And the roads here feels like they were made by an uncertified planner. I hate the fact that there C-train doesn't go to the airport. Transit here is abysmal; drug-ridden. 3. Rain? Just bring an umbrella. Cold? Good luck staying outside for 30mins. 4. Definitely. Calgary? Not so much. The stampede is national-level event at best. 5. This is so true. My car and home insurance shot up. Utilities are ridiculously expensive - and you'd need to keep the heat up in winter. Rent increase has no cap (why?) and it's even almost Vancouver prices. 6. It definitely is my friend. People here like to pretend it's not but they're delusional. 7. True that. Check out how defensive they are when you point out obvious facts about their homeplace. It's like they've never been outside of it...wait...yeah that's probably true. 8. I work from home and have underground parking so no comment for me there. 9. Yup, travel destination for sure. Moved from Vancouver to Calgary and I honestly regret it. Planning to move back next year. Cheers!
@@esparda07 1. Why are people willing to pay high property prices to reside in Vancouver Lower Mainland? 2. Why are property prices so low in Calgary? 3. Why does the Alberta government feels it is necessary to advertise to get people to move there? 4. Why would anybody want to live in a place where there is snow/sand on the streets 6 months of the year? 5. Gotta love hail storms?
Calgary? Never! There is absolutely nothing to do there! And winters are 8 months long. There is more to life than cheap housing. If cheap housing is want you want then move to Inuit!
Thanks for your response. Everyone has their opinion. It’s not about the housing, it just happens to be way more affordable then the other 2 major hubs. Winter is not 8 months long, it lasts about 4-5 months and many times it’s mild and only a few days or weeks of colder temperatures. You might be thinking of Winnipeg, lol. So many amazing things to do around here in both summer and winter, I’ve named some in my video but the list is even longer. Thanks again for your feedback 😃

I don’t like humid climates, it’s either too hot or too cold. For Vancouver though beautiful, I wouldn’t be able to handle the overcast and rain. When you’re used to sunshine all the time, it really takes toll on your mood.
if you don't like, then don't come
@DAVID Y visited Calgary in September. nice city, friendly people but not for me. keep your snow you had yesterday David while some flowers are budding here along with green grass in Toronto
@@Conspiracy1977 LOL, everyone has their preferences. 😁😁😁

Thanks, I realized that after the fact but was filming over 2 days and just couldn’t change it once I synced all my videos together.
Big space. Small population.
Yes it doesn’t feel like some of the other big cities though it is expanding significantly. Thanks for your feedback 🙏
@@monika_lokietko yes! Once we hit that 4 million threshold,
We can finally say we are a big city. Next up, take on Tokyo’s 40 millón

Taking public transit in Calgary is horrible. A half hour trip in a car is around two hours using our great public transit services.
Thanks!
stick with the bus / train routes
From a Calgarian who recently moved to Vancouver:
Bye
Calgary?
@@monika_lokietko lived there for 5 years...... perhaps next time compare Calgary to Edmonton, Winnipeg or Lethbridge..but Toronto??!! Nice try though...
nothing to do because you're boring 😒😒😒

You are beautiful, but Calgary is so boring, right. Should I move there? I hear Kelwona has more going on
Boring? There is soo much to do here, not sure why you would think it’s boring. Kelowna, though I love to visit through the summer, it’s very depressing, gloomy and overcast during the winter.
If you're bored it's up to you to find something to do whether you are in Calgary or not ....
