Spartan IVs basically have the same A.I as marines, what 343i should have done was base Spartan IV A.I off of real halo player tactics: having them jump over enemies, able to assassinate, jump over explosive shots to keep momentum rather than dive out of the way, getting generally up close and personal, grenade jump. While also combining some old Elite/Jackal A.I: taking cover/falling back when their shields are down, aim for headshots with anti-materiel firearms (weapons able to do headshots) rather than body shots. This combined with stronger melee, better aim, and shields/health that are the *exact* same as Player Controlled Spartan IVs (depending on difficulty) would make them seem like they were actually Spartans (albeit Mk IVs) and not just Marines in a fancy suit.

I can't express it enough, we need playable Elites back. 343 has opened up so many chances to add them into Halo 5 as a DLC or special update. Especially with the Swords of Sanghelios and Arby in the game. They have no excuse to not add them into joint training simulations with Spartans. Hell, they were already mentioned in the comics.

This is the reason why they got curb stomped so badly in this battle: Elite AIs are designed to be much more aggressive and charge/melee/shoot more while UNSC ally AI just covers and makes a few pot shot bursts.

Classic Halo marines are real killers. I gave 5 marines Needlers, and we cut a bloody swathe through the Covenant capital city of High Charity on Heroic difficulty. Brutes, Elites, Grunts, Jackals, Drones-you name it, we killed it. The only difference is that I had to kill the Hunters by myself with explosives and Brute Plasma Rifles.

Especially during that section in the Phantom, while one elite is getting killed the other (who has an energy sword) stands there and does nothing. Meanwhile the jackals next to them just stand around too. Then we have Jul' Madama getting easily taken care of because he just stands there and waits before getting his energy sword out and then gets killed because he stood there and waited till the last second to draw his sword. The Covenant Noble fought at least didn't stand around with a Spartan murdering their allies.
I think their AI is made to not throw grenades too often to avoid them accidentally killing the player. They should still do it in this situation though since there is no player close.

Gianmarco Corbetta absolutely true. I hated Reach from a story/lore standpoint, but its gameplay is still better than Halo 4's and that is saying something. (except for marines/army, arguably worse than Halo 4's version even)
According to Official Halo Lore the Spartan 4s were given the same augmentations that the Spartan 2s were given except these ones where safer for the body. The ONLY difference between Spartan 2s and 4s is there Training, the Spartan 2s were abducted from the age of 6 and trained, while the Spartan 4s were just ODSTs and some Spartan 3s... Gameplay wise the Spartan 4 AI is programmed the SAME as a Marine, the only difference is that they have shields, and there new slogan is "Spartan 4s DO die"

The thing is , all the allie AIs in the halo games are programmed to serve as support to the player , so they can hardly ever stand on their own because of that . These Spartans act the same as marines except that they have shields and maybe shot a little more.

Same with the IV's, all I ever saw out of them was H4's portrayal which included Douchey comments and lack of efficiency in combat (other than Thorne, him and Lasky were the only likable characters in H4 IMO). I dunno, that stuff combined with Del Rio and the shadowy ONI and their treatment of Halsey just gave the UNSC this "Futuristic Space Nazi" feel that I hated. Perhaps that's the point though, setting up Halo 5 and having ONI hunt down Chief (and Halsey I suppose)...

She even lied to ONI directly to save Lasky's ass. I just bought the Halo:Inititaion comic and have yet to read it though. I have grown to like her and I disliked her quite a bit in Halo 4. But it was apparent in 4 that she did have an admiration for the Master Chief.

Looping Ropals Reach had a Firefight map with friendly AI on it called Installation 04, pity they didn't use the same idea in other maps

According to Official Halo Lore the Spartan 4s were given the same augmentations that the Spartan 2s were given except these ones where safer for the body. The ONLY difference between Spartan 2s and 4s is there Training, the Spartan 2s were abducted from the age of 6 and trained, while the Spartan 4s were just ODSTs and some Spartan 3s... Gameplay wise the Spartan 4 AI is programmed the SAME as a Marine, the only difference is that they have shields, and there new slogan is "Spartan 4s DO die"

The thing is , all the allie AIs in the halo games are programmed to serve as support to the player , so they can hardly ever stand on their own because of that . These Spartans act the same as marines except that they have shields and maybe shot a little more.

The main difference between the 4s and the 2s is that the 4s actually retained their humanity, with all the augmentations, training, tech and experience these guys are literal super heroes, so its understandable she looks down on some people, whether its fair or not.

I'm mostly joking, but honestly I hated her attitude in Halo 4, and I haven't had interest in much of Halo's lore since that game, so I dunno if they gave her any defining traits outside of "gruff hardass on a Spartan Period" in a book or something.
Same with the IV's, all I ever saw out of them was H4's portrayal which included Douchey comments and lack of efficiency in combat (other than Thorne, him and Lasky were the only likable characters in H4 IMO).
I dunno, that stuff combined with Del Rio and the shadowy ONI and their treatment of Halsey just gave the UNSC this "Futuristic Space Nazi" feel that I hated.
Perhaps that's the point though, setting up Halo 5 and having ONI hunt down Chief (and Halsey I suppose)...
slvrcobra1337 I've only read the first 6 chapters of halo: Escalation, but Palmer has been quite good in it. She cares for her soldiers and she is a badass on the battlefield. She even lied to ONI directly to save Lasky's ass. I just bought the Halo:Inititaion comic and have yet to read it though. I have grown to like her and I disliked her quite a bit in Halo 4. But it was apparent in 4 that she did have an admiration for the Master Chief.
I'd like to see a squad of Spartan IIIs go up against a Squad of Spartan IVs.
