Man, best explanation I have ever heard! Thanks a lot because mostly one learns it by others experience when there's a great scientific way of explaining why not to use the solvents based products.
Hay Darren, I have tried MANY restoration processes… some work Great, some suck. The million dollar question is: CSI CERAM-X, “cut n buff”, then what protection? Keep the videos coming Mr. Priest👍🏻🇺🇸
Have you tried just polishing it Darren? I usually just do what ever I am doing on the paint on them and they come out perfect. That plastic is super soft so even a light polish will remove the swirls in them.
After the water sanding you can apply a (non-yellowing) clear but that requires more steps (because of over spray). Also, I've never had much luck with the common types of clears you get from your local parts store. But the 2K urethane can be bought in a aerosol can. But like he said, he's in the detail business and not paint and body. He also said you'll probably need to do some detail work 6 months down the road to keep that luster. My question is, is there a market for just restoring headlights and taillights? ..... Say go setup a a local carwash and advertise the service you're providing.....
Did a couple lights with quarter inch deep cracks. Had to settle for just making it better, not comfy with removing all that plastic. How the lights are made they face upwards directly towards the sun.
Being plastic, should you put some sort of UV protectant on this after polishing? I know when I polish my plastic headlights, they crud over again in a matter of 6 months or so. Still looking for the perfect coating to stop that.
Mr Jkm I think the answer your looking for although you might not like it is buying new ones , once you go thru the factory clear it’s over Johnny or you can keep polishing them.
@@glenngray1201 haha! I just started like 3 months ago. Did a red porshe. Supposed planing to upload. But I have my daughter this weekend and its exhausting. Want to start taking the media side serious and push helpful content. Darren is seriously taking my competence and value to a high standard. Going to buy Ceramx and D1 and learn how to use them. How was the week for you?
@@glenngray1201 Thanks so much Bro! Hey who is Tom? Lol. Ultrasonic blind cleaner? That interesting! How does that work? I'm operating In Trinidad. Small island next to Venezuela. The weather is a bit wonky here at the moment. Also service jobs are difficult, I can't convert us prices to my currency as It will be too expensive. $300 US is $1800 Tt dollars so I have to charge like 125 - 150 us for a full detail. Another challenge is car washes flooded the market with the word detailing. So when I say I'm a detailer people assume " car wash boy with a polisher. " If I play my cards right I can turn that into an advantage by marketing in an informative but disruptive way ( clearly motivated by Darren here. ) I love what I do and it will take me where I want to go. N ur a detailer, u pointed out my error like a detailer. Lol. I uploaded the porshe. Red panamera GTS. Check it out. Vid is short n basic.
Got Tape ! I think that’s the most tape you’ve ever used Darren .. Lol Great video as always ..

I think he is just demonstrating the proper method if more than polishing is needed.

Will this destroy the clearcoat on the lights?

Ceramic coating should work. But obviously do it if you are gonna do the entire car.
