These are great builds. Having purpose to get up in the morning, and get to task, invigorates the soul. I'm a retired USAF pilot now in my 60s. I went through a transition of sorts as well, finding work with my hands the most satisfying. It wasn't the only thing I started but one of the more enjoyable ones. When you enjoy building with purpose, you end up with some nice results. After watching you go from camper to camper, I noticed a level up in your desire to improve things from the last camper. That to me is a healthy mental state and one to build on. Who knows where it can lead. I found simplicity in daily life, along with a better awareness of gratitude, made a big difference for me. Keep the vids coming, they are therapeutic to watch, and I don't even have a truck camper.
Hello Dave, we appreciate you letting us know more about what motivates you to build such great looking and creative campers. This message resonates with a lot of people. Thank you for sharing.
When you retire you loose who you where and that purpose. You are right about filling your time with something usefull and being creative.I found the perfect truck camper for me 15 yrs ago, lance 805.But for others It makes good sense to build your own light weight camper and you are their source of inspiration.Keep up the strong work.
You are correct. Everyone needs purpose in their life, no matter what they do. I know I do. I was in the same boat, working for a company for many years, but not really happy. I did my job well, but needed to leave. Needed a change... I now work for myself & have down times to do woodworking, rock hounding, or other projects & hobbies that I love to do. I just wanted you to know you matter... you may not know to an extent, but you inspired many people, including myself to someday build my own truck camper. You have shown & taught and I appreciate you! I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this. By the way Dave, my name is Greg. Blessings to you & your family!
I hear you on all your reasons. If I don't have a project or goal I feel lost. Ive been building a cabin in the woods and when I'm done that I'm going to recreate a fire watch tower. I got the plans from the forestry dept website. Youve got the best home built campers on youtube by a wide margin, you should be proud.
Thanks for serving your community during your law enforcement career. Really appreciate you sharing your talents as a creator on TH-cam. It is always a wonderful learning experience watching your videos.
Dave thank you for sharing all of that. You are a really nice and authentic person. You have really helped me in countless ways. I for one am proud to call you my friend. I know we have never met face to face, but we have talked and you are a kind soul. Building this camper has been journey, that is hard to explain, its a great experience, and has been very healing also. Something I would not have done without watching your channel. ☺ Whatever you do next, I'm in 110%!
Thanks for sharing Dave 💕🙌 Important to stay busy, and physically too. Helps balance the mind and body. I went through a similar time about 10 years ago, and when I began making TH-cam videos it really helped pull me through some of those dark times. Keep on keepin on brother 👍
Dave, I’m not a leader either, but a great support person for the leaders. Thanks for sharing some of your back story, it really helps us understand what you are going through
Hi, 57 yo man in Stockholm, Sweden here. I get you 100%, had the same issues. Life felt pointless , or worse, for years, but its starting to get better. Thanks for the message.
Great message, and I am really happy that you found your creativity outlet. Your openness is truly appreciated. Have an awesome week, looking forward to the next video👍👍🙂
I have had fibromyalgia forv17 years and the days I can get myself moving and building something or working with my hands, helps take my mind off of the pain.
Thanks for sharing. I find another quality in enjoying how one applies himself, … gratitude with contentment (a mix). Often the zeal of greed or such is really a rabbit trail or a train going off its tracks. Also, there is another common saying, “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side” … I’ll add, “but you still have to cut it”… peace and joy … with contentment. pat
love your work. i have an ambulance im working on. I have 95 ram 3500 utility truck I'm considering either a truck camper like Truck House Life build or a Vardo out of it.
Dave; as a 100% disabled Viet Nam veteran, I totally understand where you’re coming from. If you ever want to talk, message me and I’ll send you my number. Take care!!

I have begun to be a friend to myself."
