We were full time for several years and have seen hundreds of campers over the years! Yours are amongst the nicest, most well made and value for dollars that I have seen. I was a project manager of multi million dollar projects and you sir do things correctly!!!
I agree with your aerodynamic "beliefs" about the roofline angle. I built 2 snowmobile trailers(all aluminum, unibody style construction) with a radius at the roofline in the same place as yours. MAN, do these things perform on the highway. Never feel the wind pushing them around at all, even when a Rig goes by me at 90. I'm convinced it's due to the radii.
Really enjoy your videos! I really like 9.0 - your woodwork is very nice. I usually prefer the lighter wood interiors - but the walnut is really beautiful. Thanks for all the details in build videos - there is always a lot to think about and work through.😅
Dave I like the white outside and light natural wood color for an interior but either one of these creations would work for anyone. You’ll have a tough time topping 9.0 like I told you buddy. I would put a HLN diesel heater in it and you could travel anywhere in the country year round. You’ve done an amazing job on them both my friend and, you made them both to your preference which can’t be questioned. White on the outside is a no brainer when you live where you do. Not to mention it will go with any other truck color and it will be a lot easier to keep clean. Only way you could make one better is to go bigger and put it on an 8’ box. You need to take some time off and enjoy using 9.0. Thank you David for sharing all your information. Ted from Arkansas
Bravo! Can't really say I prefer one over the other as they both have some amazing features. Almost leaning a bit more to the 8.0 wood finish interior, but that 9.0 is outstanding as well! Your artistry really comes through in these models. Great hobby!
Thanks for taking the time to film, edit, and then post these videos. I know it adds a lot of time to the build. Maybe you have already gone over this, however, it would be interesting to compare man hours used from soup to nuts and then cost (s). Obviously, labor cost will be different based on location of build if you did not build it yourself. Thank you. 73 & God Bless, JohnyMac KC1FWU
I like 9.0 because I’m 6’4” tall, and I like the light exterior and interior finish. I also like the storage location for rifles. And the large roof fan. Ventilation is a must.
Strong work! I prefer the smooth white exterior, off white walls with light colored cabinetsThe shape of the roof and the rear overhang that shields the rear door is perfect and sets off the camper.I like the limited graphics on the sides.Having had a truck camper for almost 20yrs. and used it a lot and traveled far I would say these are the most imortant considerations.Weight, strength, water tight, durable, quality doors, windows and accessories.Again, great job.
8.0 has a lot of charm. I think on 9.0 if it was a tan color exterior I would like it a whole lot better. But they are both amazing units, and your craftsmanship is building some serious legend! Legend! Thanks for sharing.
Dave, I have seen them all, but hard to remember much other than you use cedar framing, many times cedar siding, flex solar, solar generator to power. Window ac and neat cabinet for each.
Really like the interior look of 9.0 its very relaxing. Also if I was to attempt to build one I really like the final look of 8.0 and being cedar would be technically simpler to put together imo. and especially for a first time. Both are very inspirational.
Thanks for sharing. I like to know what type of material used for that white camper on the outside. It looks like fiberglass but I’m not sure. You do nice work.
Nice work on both units. We are considering a build like this but would like to put the sleeping area over the cab. Being 6'2" I like the taller unit as well. Would you expand the structural design similarly or would a lot of changes need to be considered to raise and extend the sleeping area over the cab? I would consider adding aluminum to the structural framing for strength. Please let me know what your thoughts are.
Sir, you should hire people and start high volume production line. Your company will thrive. I look at many startups. And they all appear off and mediocre. This line of product is what I would want for myself. Great lines.
Can the 9.0 Frig also fit under the bed if you wanted it to? Also, you might having wiring under the bed that you could put a second unit and have one freezer ... so when you go fishing (catching) you can freeze a bunch before returning home. My Chinook is dark and I asm planning to make the walls light colored and keep the cabinets the OEM wood fishes. I think a possible dual tone theme to be used or continued on the exterior. I like the 9.0 outside and wasn't sure until I saw the final product. That said, you might be able to use both on the sides, smooth white and wood .. ... when I think of your artistic nature of building. ... You might make an easily storable wood counter with padding on the bottom side to have it set on top of the refrigerator, which can give more area and or prep area etc. ... I am assuming you are keeping all the air hole vents open and clear for cooling if the compressor. One my 99 Safari van camper build, ... thing, ... I use a think piece of insulation about 3/4" with a think pice of material glued to it... and the insulation side sets on the refrigerator. It helps a lot with keeping the unit cooler and it runs less time.
The real big factor is how much would one cost to purchase? There is a real need for an affordable truck bed camper cause the costs are ridiculous or maybe someone can design a kit that can be purchased. The lowest cost but coolest I have seen are the tail feather which is a huge modular cabin for only $5-$6k as well as the tail feather lite slide in for $5k or quite lite names might be a little off
A couple things… specific to my campers, this is a hobby for me and each one is unique and takes about 300-500 hours to make by hand (I personally do all labor). Trust me, when I sell one of my creations - I make no money. Last year I actually lost money. 5k doesn’t even come close to material costs. I’m not familiar with those brands, but I’m guessing at that price point they are probably just shells. Mass produced unit costs could probably be lower at scale than mine. To your comment for larger manufacturers, I am guessing they are making a healthy profit, but people still buy them. You may not be familiar with my channel, but I think that is why so many are interested in building campers themselves - costs and quality. I think it is also healthy for people to express their creativity and self-sufficiency.
9.0 interior looks unfinished. Under bed area is better though. Prefer 9.0 exterior. Would like an over cab bed area option, not just storage. Great craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing.
Can I ask how much does either one cost ? , & can they fit on a 2020 Ford F-150 4X4 . I have a 2020 Ford F-150 & would like to know how much do they cost to own one of them ? can they be taken off & stored in say a garage or back yard , is there any thing one needs to do to but on of these on the back of a Ford truck ? Would like to know the total cost for both of them then see which one I like .
I just purchased a toyota tacoma, I want to build something similar to 8.0. Question, is a tub necessary if I want to keep the camper permanently on the truck, I just want to bolt it on the bed rails. Is a tub necessary for center of gravity ect.?
I build for the artistry. I have no interest being in business. I think it would kind of be an honor if an established company used aspects of my design. I would like it more if they gave me credit!
And if he covers the animal print upholstery in clear plastic he can have the illusion of living in a mobile trailer in Lousiana.........lol.......throw in some fake gold paint and he can act with imitation class like Donald & Melania Trump.
Hey David I like 9.0 but 8.0 is equally nice. Either one of these builds are great. 9.0 has a big plus with the micro wave and the bigger nice fridge. I would definitely install a HLN diesel heater in at least 9.0. Very easy install and a huge benefit to any camper. I originally thought about building a small slide in like you have built just for traveling around the country and, having the ability to have an emergency accommodations for many reasons after traveling all over the country. That’s when I decided to put all of the appliances and headroom in a non cab over 8’ long box and still be able to close my end gate. I also made my entry door so it opened to the inside. Dave I like the natural light wood interior and mine will have some dark trim like you have done but I also like the new Miniwax ultra flat poly because of it’s toughness and, also an oil base as opposed to water base anything. The outside color on 9.0 is a must especially living in the southwest when it’s 100 plus degrees out. Easier to keep clean and will match up with any color of pickup. Like I have told you before David you’re going to have to build a bigger truck camper or, something to make a better camper than what you finally and ultimately have created.lol White exterior and lighter interior of natural wood is my pick but I could live with either one of your units. Took me forever to tell you what you wanted to know. I’m an old man recovering from surgery yesterday with to much time on my hands. I still love watching all your endeavors into each build. That would be a good name for 9.0 Final Endeavor. Ttyl Ted from Arkansas

Great video! I like the Osmo over cedar look. I'm a "wood guy".

They both look great! I'm a fan of the darker finish myself., feels a little more quiet if that makes sense.

Love the cedar outside , and dark inside . Happy new year🎉
You too

I don’t feel like a legend… just an old man
I am going to build a camper on my truck. love these videos. Gives me lots
of ideas
i vote for the dark finish as well.
Merry Christmas 😊
You do incredible work! I love them both!!!
Thanks Lance
Been here since the Pandemic, it is crazy to think 9.0 is already been released. A true craftsman indeed.
Dave, I have seen them all, but hard to remember much other than you use cedar framing, many times cedar siding, flex solar, solar generator to power. Window ac and neat cabinet for each.
9.0 is better overall to me. They are both really good. Hello from nz
Dave, 9.0 looks so modern, bright. They all have their neat things
Thanks Jerry
Really like the interior look of 9.0 its very relaxing. Also if I was to attempt to build one I really like the final look of 8.0 and being cedar would be technically simpler to put together imo. and especially for a first time. Both are very inspirational.
Thank you. Yes, in a lot of ways the cedar builds are simpler and more forgiving.
Now that I see inside 9.0, to me 8.0 is hands down way more beautiful. I’m sure 9.0 inside matches the outside more.
Thanks for sharing. I like to know what type of material used for that white camper on the outside. It looks like fiberglass but I’m not sure. You do nice work.

I believe the van is my favorite
Not having to stand on your head to get the fridge is great but as you said, lost counter and drawers.
wow since 1.0 😍👏💝
Thank you for your longtime viewership
Love them both.. however, I.m more drawn to 8.0 wood look and also would prefer the darker interior.. feels more cozy.
Same page my friend
I like the wax look

Great idea regarding that removal able pad to add countertop space on the fridge. I didn’t think about that.
I love the cedar inside of 8.0. Is the insulation factor similar in 8.0 and 9.0, since 9 was a lot of foam/material vs all cedar?

Do you sell these and how much are they? It’s a beautiful camper!
Occasionally, but not professionally. 9.0 will be my last for a while.
9.0 interior looks unfinished. Under bed area is better though. Prefer 9.0 exterior. Would like an over cab bed area option, not just storage. Great craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing.
How does it look unfinished?
Great job … wider build next build more foam less wood ..
Thanks 👍
Do you have the 8.0 build video?
Yes, I have a whole series… scroll through my videos - you will find it. About six months ago

Are your campers for sale?
I just purchased a toyota tacoma, I want to build something similar to 8.0. Question, is a tub necessary if I want to keep the camper permanently on the truck, I just want to bolt it on the bed rails. Is a tub necessary for center of gravity ect.?
I don’t think so. A lot of people are building campers that are just the shell. I’ve never done one myself, but I think that could be a good option.
Mastery
Need bed over cab
How do you prevent the Big Boys from taking your designs and mass producing them...patents ?
I build for the artistry. I have no interest being in business. I think it would kind of be an honor if an established company used aspects of my design. I would like it more if they gave me credit!
Do you build any for sale?
Not exclusively, but I do occasionally sell them.
Wow, very beatiful. Would you happen to be located in California? I would be very interested in picking one up @@EndgameCampers

A small space with mirrors covering one or more walls,as needed, will give the illusion of being greater in interior volume.
