Mostly the Greatest Generation did not trust banks. My Silent Generation grandparents did not bury their money in the ground. Maybe some older silent generation does or did. Greatest Generation is from 1901-1927 and the Silent Generation is from 1928- 1945.
Grandma in Oregon did it in old canning jam jars in backyard.
The fourth Amendment says "the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable search and seizure." I am pretty sure knowing what is in our accounts above $600 qualifies as unreasonable search

Nope because banks aren't equally protected. You make a deal with the bank, the bank makes a deal with the gov. That's how they get around the 4th Amendment. This worked with Google and others.

My 82 year old parents heard that this was a “possibility” and guess who was at the bank withdrawing their funds, and at BJs buying a safe? That’s right… my dad! I told him it wasn’t active yet, and his response “it’s a warning, better safe than sorry”. The next day… I was at the bank, doing the same thing lol

Most probably use them for food, but with millions that have them, there's a tremendous amount that do exactly like I said.
Our friend who works as a financial planner thinks this is a plan to destroy banks, starting with small ones, ultimately to consolidate into one central bank.
And if we the people allow them to go to digital currency, this will be one more step to the goal of pushing us like the sheep being led to the slaughter house.

FYI from working in the financial service industry I already know that they can look at not just your bank account but every transaction you make on a daily basis. I think a better way to approach is the start a campaign called Defund the IRS.

Of course the IRS can check our bank account but it has to be for a reason. It’s a big difference from being able to look when needed (tax fraud or a one time big deposit) than tracking ever dollar we put in that’s over $600.

I am a commercial banker. This will undermine the faith in our financial system and will cause people to ditch financial institutions. That will lead to lending issues for them as people will pull their funds. I recommend you call your representatives and tell them you don’t want this. It will also lead to increased fees for the consumer because the banks won’t pay for the increased cost you will one way or another.

I almost wish we had something like... we could call them constitutional rights. It could be a list of ammendments. One of them, we could call it say just randomly say the fourth ammendment. It could say something that would stop unreasonable searches.
If they can access the bank accounts and review transactions, they know everything about you. Virtually every activity has a cost. If you can compare bank accounts, you can see interactions between people. You know who associates with whom and where everyone is going. You can run pattern recognition to track individuals. Depending on how the data is shared, other agencies could use the data to prosecute, or if there ends up being a bad actor, maliciously ruin someone's life. There is real costs with this in term of both financial, social, and for some, it could cost them everything.

That's why the police need a court order to look at financial transactions. This is a violation of one's constitutional rights!
