Can you explain how the new system isn't just renaming tiers, where OP = 5.0, SSS = 4.5, etc. I do agree a tier list for this game is useless, as there is almost no opportunity for new players to get previously released units, making them irrelevant no matter how good they may be.
Aside from the "Too many "S"s being a little confusing" there's a new mentality as well. For example: too many new styles would be classified as OP grade at release, like Apollo, Subier and others, but with the new system I try to evaluate them with their lasting value as well, since many styles even if they seem OP at first they just won't stay meta for too long or can be instantly replaced with the next powercreep.
I believe the new system gives the styles more weigh in, where as saying a style gets a system rating but under preforms during current content. Maybe see it as an easier shift or justifiable means to lower it from 4.5 to 4. Wouldn't make sense to lower a sss/op unit down a whole tier even though its still considered a sss/op unit outside of the particular challenge your trying to complete.
The ratings don't really matter to me, but your comparisons to similar characters and what they offer compared to each other has been the most helpful for me.

26 august if not agree, so i agree as personally, is the start for when each banners almost all of it, when rs2 characters release such as medea, maria, and after that onward through now is almost every character is meta, with jo as you said alongside with Liz that is release together at december 2023, that change the game much more, the goes to matriarch last weeks.
indeed, the game has been having more "meta" units as it just keeps adding more and more roles to a single char
Thanks Scher! I never used Tatyana on any Romancing challenges and I can't put anymore the Matriarch in my teams since the bosses buffs break again and again. Gerard and Roc are the current 5/5 styles, next to Julian the goat. Kichachi got some nice competitions. Even Swift is not so op any more on long battles. Darius may deserve a 5/5 too
Buff breaking again and again is only an issue when the boss punishes buffing (ie. SC210, Dragonlord). Like debuffing is still very important even though bosses constantly Defy Weakness.
It seem boss is only removing attitbute buff only. Attack, defense buff still, still variable and current boss still can't remove them yet. There are some new unit in Japan that give OP buff that boost your damage into the million damage after buffing a few turn.
The tier list of OP , SS, S grade is actually adopted from japanese wiki page. And they arrange it further into main category such as Farming (Lap battles) , Romancing fights, General/ standalone units. It is more simplified version and people know where to look. With your new grading system having 4.5 or 4 out of 5 that does not explain much. For my case, im still referring to japanese grading system and having watch your unit review video helps in making decission. Whatever you do, i support it 😊
After playing this game for 2 days (newbie), for me the valuable unit is the one with a follow up attack unit (aoe=farming/single target=boss killer), bp battery unit, a unit that can buff entire party + debuff the enemy (aoe/single target debuff)...
Hi Scher, I'm still very interested in watching your future analysis of characters. Whatever the grading system there is always some good points I missed. The videos help me (IMO) to make a decision of pull or not based on the actual bosses mechanics but also future mechanics (JP tier lists help me in parallel to 'predict' or 'anticipate' the future mechanics for high difficulty fights). As you know I'm a fervent adept of tier list for Remembrance battles. It help me to lvl my favorite 5-10 characters per weapon with a particular focus on next rem hard challenges.
Glad to be of help, future planning always help those that want to beat content ASAP specially rem, I'm excited for the very hard challenges
Too bad the guy who updated the spreadsheet is now too busy. I hope they find peace in Gongaga. Tier list for current game has become pretty useless now anyways since power creep has jumped so much from before and there is now an essay to read just for one passive.

So I can agree with the logic on the new tier system, we all know as new challenges come around the party changes to suit the needs to accomplish as such. I love your content, its helped me out in a few jams lol. We need new azami or at least make her usable.
thank you! Yeah I think now we need more styles to cover more ground but it's at least not the same thing all the time
Since the global versions getting closer to the Japanese version, those japanese OP buff and healer unit will be releasing soon and those will break the 10 million damage cap on our current global version.
oh yeah, current JP is insane!

What i like in some grading system is rating for farming, hl content or else.
thing is, grinding value has decreased drastically on recent times
tier list is not necessary for me because
1.Tier list can change everytime
2.some unpopular SS style are useful for clear some bosses (in gl server this is near to burst & chain damage Era, they'll make you much more comfortable)
3.the boss weakness in each level are different
Note : from point 1 number of style is very a lot. If he make tier list, he will tired

With the new grading system, where does Labelle Hotspring refer to?
I won't review old units as it would just be a tier list again, but Labelle at this point would still be a 4.5 I believe as she is meta enough but not really a must have since her role can now be performed by different characters
ngl, if u drop tat in your 5 out of 5, then maka 100 percent belongs. She can easily out dps tat even if she doesn't get all her follow ups off. She is insane damage dealt and imo, and i do have both, is much stronger than tatiyana.
Nah..Maka is outclassed by Urpina and Kihachi. Sadly she is only damage dealer and does not offer much in the future. Dps unit is easily replaceable
@salime01 lol Maka is not is not inany way out classed by urpina, Maka does more damage than urpina even in the 1st 8 turns she gets with her buff, and after those turns, Maka completely thrashes urpina in damage. And she rivals kimachi in damage when she does get all her follow ups. Kimachi isn't hitting for a million a hit 3 times in a row like she does then double casts it. Kimavhi might out damage Maka slightly.
One thing people forget with Maka, is she is identical to sumire old style where every attack she gains bp back, she is basically self a sustaining dps. And Maka wrecks with the debuff from kimachi. Maka is quite literally imo kimachi best dps to run with. Either her or ferdinard for the big burst damage.
hmmm the problem with Tatyana is that content has been countering here utility but she isn't weaker than Maka, and Maka isn't a must have as she doesn't bring a gimmick for different squads or breaks anything, she is just very strong and this will be the same for all damage dealers from now on
the problem is that if we see with the eyes of today Maka is very strong or even Ferdinand... next week comes and then... boom another better damage dealer comes and skipping Maka had no effect in most accounts, but you can still have fun with the character, it's just not a game changer

if we were following the onld mentality yes for sure, on top of damage... but damage really isn't going to last in the way the game is moving forward
