Bruce Liu is playing this Rondo avec une telle aisance et elegance naturelle. Gives me joyful feelings listening to it, I see papillons dancing all over! Thank you again…..
Saw him last night at Carnegie Hall. His color and shading is impeccable. Especially on those gliding runs. He doesn't make it sound like a bunch of notes. It's just one smooth soaring line.
He has that wonderful semi-staccato touch that I am obsessed with. Added to that, he has wonderful dynamic contrasts, contrasts in articulation, and well-measured crescendi/ diminuendi. Truly marvelous, such a deserving first-prize winner!
I think what's remarkable about Bruce's playing is the rhythmic cohesion and pacing - he doesn't get stuck with over-shaping or phrasing - he keeps everything in context and everything has a musical purpose within the whole. Beauty of line and rhythm are perfectly balanced.
So that contrast of dynamics is very clearly performed in this piece, and even other elaborations in tempo, articulations, movement and facial expression, etc. are one of a kind. Im glad how he phrases every part make the melody become quite easily memorable as it really has its own color.
His interpretation of this piece was my favorite of his pieces! As well as the leg dances 7:26 and at other times. He enjoys playing it and it rubs off onto the audience 😊
Easy to see how this guy won the chopin comp" - techinically super crisp & brilliant dynamics ; without the quirky tempos changes & dips 99% of his contemporaries show in their playing Hes head n shoulders above most ....
Was great fun to watch the competition. I thought you would be the winner. But the variety of all the great competitors created awareness of personal attitudes to these pieces that it is impossible to pick just one for a given piece. You certainly deserved the price with these many different musical approaches even in one single piece.
Brilliant! You’d be hard pressed to find a better interpretation of this piece, in my opinion. Impeccable dynamic control, expression that is just perfect and delicious. Master of the piano.
I think it’s even better than Trifonov’s. Very supple hands with total control. Trifonov tends to go over the edge. This is more consistent across the range.
Just perfect! Innovative, fresh, highly individual and personal and yet with Chopinian character! And I love his finger karate at 01:40. I think there's a little Bruce Lee in him after all...
A wonderful and playful take on this piece. In contrast, I feel Kyohei Sorita's is more sincere, but I enjoy both very much and will likely listen to them for years to come.
Easy to see why he s won over so many ; beatifully played ; technically great - but his interpretation s, for me - are a level above most of his contempories 🙏🙏🙏
Very very beautiful and very good, Bruce. Some sections a little too exaggerated and forced, for my taste, but the general idea is consistent with his way of interpreting. I really hope he has a good career. PS: Anyway, I doubt Chopin played this Artwork like this. (personal idea).
@@marshan1226 I didn't say it's not good, on the contrary. But I don't even dare to say it's the best ever. "Best of all" is a concept I don't agree with. There are many different tastes.

I was there too. 7 encores. What a show that was

Plus these tasteful rubati, they round off his genius :)

He played this perfectly, with complete sensitivity and good dynamic control. Bravo Bruce!

Que Lindo! Beautiful Bruce! Congratulations on winning the competition 👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🏆🏆🏆

thank you Bruce Liu this was the best op5 I've ever heard.
2次の最初のこの演奏を聴いて優勝を確信した。テクニックは言うまでもなく、スター性のような雰囲気に、今回はこの人なんだなと感じた。
Sií! Muy bella y certera su intuición.
Cudowna muzyka genialnego Chopina, boskie wykonanie. Dziękuję.

speechless, what a good control, amazing...
His interpretation of this piece was my favorite of his pieces! As well as the leg dances 7:26 and at other times. He enjoys playing it and it rubs off onto the audience 😊
It was great . However I liked Miyu Shindo’s crisp version better :)
Bruce dances to his own playing which can be infectious, it made me also want to sway my body, so joyful and nice!😄
@@loveispatient0808 that is indeed one of his many appeals !
@@thestratford51 indeed! Just love the way Bruce plays, so wonderful!
Wow, after hearing this a few times and comparing references of some maestros, I have to say, this interpretation is phenomenal. On an immense level!
What a wonderful sense of rhythm and rubato!

On this particular piece, I unusually prefer Sorita's, but Bruce's is wonderful beyond words!
Of course, Sorita is great to listen to, but I prefer Bruce's interpretations, apart from this piece's one

You should see Bozhanov’s performance of this from 2010.
This is so beautiful it is breathtaking!❤
So fun ! Absolutely beautiful!!

Las interpretaciones de este joven e incomparable pianista, son únicas, brillantes!

This is indeed the very best interpretation of op. 5 ever recorded!
I personally prefer Sorita's rendition, though it's debatable and I might change my mind sooner or later
なんて心地良い演奏でしょう…(*´ー`*)
