I have the Switch version, and while the portability is convenient, the performance and graphical fidelity are not great-it’s kind of a lackluster port. If it’s your only option or you really want portability then I’d still get it, and it can be tweaked a bit if you have a hacked Switch, but otherwise you might want to look into the other versions
You just finished Ys I & II and you want to play Ys III, you say? Good news, we have three of them to choose from! But its probably better that you play Ys VI remake instead lmao
I put this up there with grandblue fantasy and demon slayer so far most definitely a solid pick up so far this year may check out the dlc once I'm done gives you more options for single player rather than just nonstop fights animation and music is great so far
The Fate Zero & Stay Night anime is tied for my favorite series.. but the games, Im not into. This one doesnt look so bad looks more my style after watching this, thanks for reviewing it Alex!
To be honest I was hoping we would get a Warriors game actually made by the guys who made the franchise because it would be a no-brainer for them to do this with the fate series especially since we did get like 2 kind of Warriors games in the past. At first I did think we were going to get another soild spin off Warriors game only for more of the game to be reveal that it is another RPG title, not a Warriors game. Like first it was the Fairy Tail RPG that even had my friends thought it was a Warriors game but it was a generic RPG and now this, despite this having a perfect template for a Warriors game. At least Musashi got another outfit to add to her closet and lori is one of the few MCs to actually fight and not be a pokemon trainer so those are some of the positives, although I did have a feeling that pacing with mediocre side quests was an issue. Great job as always Alex!
@@SolidSnake240 And then by the time we got to dynasty warriors 9, samurai warriors 5 along with warriors orochi 4 they were crap despite being their heavy hitters. The only time this company was able to get anything good was when they did spin-off Warriors games and this would have been perfect since I've always wanted them to do a Warriors game based around the fate series.
@@LimitedEye Yeah but there is a big difference those 2 were made by marvelous not Koei Tecmo. Marvelous made 2 Warriors lite kind of games, not the actual 1 vs. 1000 warriors games that Koei Tecmo did for Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. I'm just saying it would have been awesome to let the actual Warriors guys to make a fate Warrior's game that was actually a Warrior's game and not be an action RPG with SOME Warriors elements, which is especially jarring considering that since this one takes place in Japan, it would have been easy to just take what they did with Spirit of Sanada as the basis and go with that.
Do they explain how the main character is able to go sword-to-sword with summoned servants? Because in Nasuverse servants are ungodly powerful toe to toe with a human.

it looks like an ok game. i do like the fate franchise and the characters look really cool. i also like that the game is not a musou and more of an action rpg. the thing i wanted was that you had a bigger roster of playable characters, there are so many cool servants and they are not playable or just for a limited time.
Personally, I would really recommend either PlayStation or PC, as Switch does have some performance issues particularly in docked mode. It's not as bad if you just play in handheld mode though.
Great review per usual-only thing I’d add is that spells and magecraft upgrading are kind of a drag, just expensive and time-consuming stuff. Other than the kind of lackluster overall story (so far), this is the game’s main flaw for me. I love the combat, skill tree, and servant systems otherwise, as well as the art direction. Also, all the sprinkled tidbits about different parts of Edo are fascinating
I brought this at launch and still haven't gotten around to playing it! The lack of EN dub is a minus but I am still looking forward to getting stuck in (Hopefully soon but might be nearer to summer).
Sounds like it could be a fun game but the fact it doesn't have an English Dub makes me very hesitant to pick it up since I know it'll just go into the backlog in favor of games that do have that option. Maybe one day there'll finally be a Fate game with an English Dub...one day.
I wouldn't count on it. Some of the JP voice actors for the franchise are so iconic that it's probably not even worth it for them at this point. I think most of the fanbase generally prefers sub anyways, so I doubt it's a priority for them. Some of the anime have dubs and if I recall Fate Zero's was pretty good, but I could never get behind the dub for Fate Stay Night mostly because I thought the VA choice for Shirou wasn't a great choice.
The forced leyline mini games completely ruined this game. The are too long, too slow and too often and they bring the game to a screeching halt each time. I really enjoyed everything else but these mini games just killed it and I had to put it away. If they ever patch in a way to make them skippable, I will go back.
ERRATA: I erroneously said Iori's last name as Musashi. It's Miyamoto! Thank you to @shaminabalamo525 for spotting that flub!
Great review! I've been meaning to pick this one up on Switch. The game looks so crisp, loving the character designs too!
I haven't tried it on the Switch, but I'm sure it's great on there too!

Fate, the least convoluted and most accessible franchise in history.
Only slightly ahead of Kingdom Hearts

Thanks for the nice review. I want to get into the Fate Series and will pick this up for sure.
I've dabbled in FATE here and there, and this one looks super fun. I'm gonna give the demo a try
First video I've watched of your channel. Great channel name!
This game was a pleasant surprise. Played the demo and loved it. Def gonna pick this up sometime soon.
I am waiting for a bit discount to buy it, i am a huge fate fan, spent so many money in fgo in the past xD Great review!
You can at least try out the demo, which is out now!
i usually dont play demos but mb i give a try, i am busy catching up with kiseki series too!@@BacklogBattle

This game does look pretty neat, it's one buried in my wishlist lol
The good thing that the game will be getting 3 additional epsoides at the current year :)

has it a japanese sub or voice as well?

Im glad this wasn't another warriors game. Those games are mind numbingly repetitive

I heard the switch version almost unplayable, wonder if they had patched the issues
One of the replies here says that is still not good, but I’m not sure if it’s a recent experience or not
There can be oNly one

we NEED a Fate/Stay Night action RPG!
This game had pig physics, 10/10 would Void Stance again.
I’m gonna finally get this on switch at the end of this month 😭😭

A lot of people kept pitching this game to me as a Muso game and only recently have I heard that it's not the case. Great review as usual 👍
