    It's hard to imagine my dad (5'6", 22 years old) flying these between Britain and France in WWII. He didn't talk about that time, so it's emotional for me to see them, and especially the pilots' seats.

    I'm glad to see WW2 planes were not all scrapped. They are a piece of history.

      The aircraft was almost scrapped so it's amazing to see it saved and in beautiful flying condition.

    Is it true this was the lead plane during the Normandy drop of June 6, 1944?

      Hard to believe it still exists, but yes, all sources say it was the lead plane of the airborne invasion of Normandy.
