@@davkaufmansreptileadventures Why are you so rough with the snakes in the little breeding containers? I’m sure they appreciate you slamming them shut too!
I was a customer of theirs when they were located in Oakland before the Loma Prieta quake of 89. I have since been to the new location and hands down the the best reptile shop I've ever been to! EVER! So happy to see they are still going strong.
What a great guy! A HUGE thank you to him for boarding all those animals for the victims of the awful fires. I’m sure they really appreciate knowing their animals are getting the BEST of care while they are going through such tough times!!
Much respect to this gentleman and I don't mean this in a hateful way but I think this is why we need more hobby breeders and breeders that focus on specific species or traits. It's crazy how huge some breeding facilities are and alot kinda turn into just breeding farms/mills in an aspect. No hate just an opinion
The Vivarium wow I was just there... I used to take my kids when they were little and it started a love for all reptiles now we have a collection of over 20 tarantulas and reptiles and I got them all from the Vivarium... Thank you Owen
OG EastBay Vivarium shoutout..... You guys have always had the best quality and killer inventory of herps and supplies... Your knowledge, expertise, and experience unmatched... Eastbay and Nerd are the model peeps should follow... This clip is nostalgia from my early herp. years back in the 80s... So awesome to see you guys still rockin...
42 years??? C'mon man! Mad respect. 5:03 Great story! 😂 Bet that freaked people out. WoW! That albino atrox. Reptile store with an upstairs, that's a win right there.
Awesome!!! I used to go there all the time as a kid, back when Cliff, John and Owen were the owners! It's probably one of the reason why I love reptiles and practice exotic medicine today! Crazy, it hasn't changed much in almost 40yrs haha
I've had my Dumerlis Boa for 4 years now, and she is hands down the best reptile I've ever worked with out of the dozens of species I've had over the years. Love your shop, can't wait to visit one day!
agree, but those cages are from decades ago and still in decent shape, if they just upgrade the enclosures a little bit than that would be the best reptile shop in the country if not the world
Another thing is being a pet store they want to have customers be able to see the animals in the setups with a ton of foliage and crazy hides and stuff customers may not be able to see whats in the cage and not buy. Just my opinion.
Ah man! Dav, why didn’t you visit when I worked at the vivarium?? 😂😭 but man, it’s great to see somebody with a big platform showing off the shop. Thanks for giving the bay some love!
I used to have a couple of Eastern Tiger Salamanders that my family bought from there. I grew up in the North Bay so I got the privilege of seeing the place multiple times as a kid. I still remember seeing blue garter snakes and green tree pythons for the first time. As a little reptile enthusiast, it was better than Disneyland.
I've been here 10 years ago, also ended up rescuing 6 Red Eared Sliders from a shop in China Town in Oakland and brought them there to find good homes!
I visited their original store in Oakland back in the early 80s and then when they moved to Emeryville and the store was owned by Ron Cauble (sp?) who was also a chemist like me. I bought about 5 snakes from them including a baby Indian python that I raised from 18 inches to 10 feet and then sold the snake back to him so he could breed it. It was always fun to visit the shop and dream about my next reptile.
So glad you went there and filmed! I miss going there since moving from the Bay Area! I ordered some Borneo Eared Frogs from them not too long ago and they came in big and healthy
What a great shop. As much as I love seeing the ultramodern pvc cages and stainless steel racks most newer facilities have, it's still cool to see the older style wooden with glass front cages that were ubiquitous in reptile rooms in times past.
Really jealous!! I really wish we had places like this in St Lawrence County New York but unfortunately they don't. Thank you for sharing Dav, cause I wouldnt be able to visit these places in person so the video tours with Dav Kaufman are absolutely fabulous!! N Thank you East Bay Viv for sharing as well.
Are you going to the Reptile Super Show in Anaheim this January? If so, I hope to see you there! Thank you for teaching us all about reptiles. Both you and Emily are amazing!! 😁
I have been trying to catch up on all my video. I moved last month and what a job it is especially with animals but almost settled in. Love your adventures. I will send you a pic of Kauffey on Facebook, I love her and she is such a sweetheart.
East Bay is an amazing place, I used to go there a lot back in the 90's when I worked for a big snake breeder, we got all kinds of great animals from them. I haven't been there in a long time so it's definitely time to take a road trip. I need a new reptile anyway.
So I just found this channel and there’s nothing that I love more than reptiles, my people 🇮🇱, and HEAVY METAL INTROS!!! 🤘🤘🤘(Creds Chandler ‘s Wildlife for making me aware)
That's where my brother and I got our reptiles and amphibians when we were kids (at what was apparently its old location) back in the '70s! Not sure I knew it was the oldest in the country.
I’ve been there many times. But haven’t in the last 10 years or so. Next time you visit, ask about the Loma Prieta Earthquake. I understand they had tons of escapees.
This is my home reptile store i got my bearded dragon at the vivarium as well as my corn snake my corn snake i come there at least once a week its so great.
That's awesome they are boarding while the fires continue! I lost some boarders as some of the evacuation orders lifted but in the past few days filled right back up as new fires have started around 30 miles from me... it just seems neverending, the freak wind storm just made it worse. Happy Halloween to all, be safe and vote! 🕷😈🤡🖤👹👻🦇😱
Cool shop. I just went to odd ball pets. Today was the last day open. Now twin cities reptiles is the only game in town. I’m going to miss only driving 5 minutes on feed day.
Ya if they up their cages etc it would be amazing! I have a really good reptile store by me that has AMAZING setups tons of hidding spots and foliage etc which is how it should be done in my opinion
This is my local reptile shop. Great selection, fantastic knowledgeable staff. Mad I didn't end up stocking up while Dāv was visiting.
Nice. Next time.
Lol same. To almost all of that.
@Makai Levi that’s really not cool...

Agreed. Animal care suffers when there are huge breeding facilities. Dog breeding is a great example of this too.
Lovely place. Thank you for showing us

Seeing that salcata tortoise makes me sad after seeing how happy the ones Kamp Keenan has his is
Awesome reptiles and a gorgeous dog? This video is perfect Dav 😍😍😍
I’ve shopped with them since the early 90’s. Very cool store. Used to shop at the tiny hydroponics store next to them as well.
Great loom into this unique store. Thank you Dav
Not the best cage setups but I’d still love to visit!

I love this place!! I got my sand boa here. The staff is so lovely and i hope to visit again!
Happy Halloween everybody 🎃
Wow looks great. We don’t have such a big reptile store here. I would go there every day.
So would I!

With those low beams you should have brought Adam with you 🤣
Yea I go there to get everything for my 4 scorpions 3 mantis and my reptiles. Best in the bay area.
What a great shop. As much as I love seeing the ultramodern pvc cages and stainless steel racks most newer facilities have, it's still cool to see the older style wooden with glass front cages that were ubiquitous in reptile rooms in times past.

Is it me or did Dav said “Eww” in 3:10 when the guy said here is our baby frogs and that’s when Dav said it lol 😂
Lol yes, the water dish after the first pacman is shown is actually a big poo in the water xD you can see the frog behind the dish looking all smug
I just went to this reptile store for the first time 3 days ago, wouldve been cool to run into you guys
Snakes are cool.
I’ve gotten all my reptiles here since I was a kid
lmao "IncubatorincubatorINCUBATORincubator..."
Dave your a lovely guy
How many people work at this facility? Looks like paradise to me but the amount of work must be wild
I’ve been there many times. But haven’t in the last 10 years or so. Next time you visit, ask about the Loma Prieta Earthquake. I understand they had tons of escapees.

ive always been curious of upstairs lol
A reptile shop will never be big enough until we expand to another planet. Then maybe there will be enough space
Yea but what if the planet we colonize has a multitude of new reptile species? We’ll be right back to square one! 😂
@@Tygor3533 That is really a conundrum.

Not the best enclosures
Ya if they up their cages etc it would be amazing! I have a really good reptile store by me that has AMAZING setups tons of hidding spots and foliage etc which is how it should be done in my opinion
And when he showed those 3 retics in a cage that’s not even big enough for one...
Brah same thoughts... wtf
The tortoise were on sawdust....that’s a no no. The enclosures were not overly clean either. 🤔
@saffron fire, just because other do worse, doesn't make these enclosures better.
For those big monitors, it's pretty sad.
You can own native, non albino rattlesnakes in California, but you're not allowed to sell them. You can only give them away.
Technically you need a fishing license as well. 2 animals per species was the limit
@@HateFetish that's only if you're collecting in the wild. You don't need a license or permit to own one.
lil b shot a music vid there ahaaahha
went here as a child
Hi could you do a video about the varanus ornatus?¿????
Wish my local pet store would let ppl inside. We have to order what we need from outside but can't go in to look at the reptiles... Covid sucks!
