    I have a d3 and customer service indicated it was a motor issue. I was able to use this video to get to the motor and just added a couple more of my own steps to swap it out with a replacement motor (and also clean out the hair in the belt that likely wore out the motor). I really wasn’t ready to drop a few hundred dollars on a new model. Thanks for sharing!

    OMG, finally help on how to fix the brush motor. When I pulled mine apart the amount of dog hair was unbelievable. Thank you for showing me how. This is the first time I have ever taken anything apart. Feels freeing and was fun. Rhonda works like a dream again.

    Thank you for this video. The brush gear box of my botvac was completely stuffed with cat hair. You couldn't see the gears anymore. The biggest challenge was to reassemble the unit and make the Home micro switch perfectly work again. But after a few tries, my Botvac woke up again and is back doing his daily cleaning job. Again thanks for the super useful video.

    Thank you, thank you thank you!! You saved me a lot of time and trouble by "you" finding out the hard way how that beater bar motor is removed. I replaced the gear and now all is right in the world. Very well done video, great job.

    Thanks for posting this video. We had the “clean brush” issue and I could tell it had to be a motor or drive belt issue. Sure enough, the entire housing was full of hair locking up the belt. Ours had a circuit board over the motor so extra work was needed but once that was off, it all came out. I would never had guessed how to get that out from the bottom up with just a screw driver. Now it is back and running great thanks to your video!

    Thanks a ton! My Neato suddenly got noisy AF.
    Warranty is long gone, but thanks to you I was able to open it and remove the tiny stone that had gotten between motor and belt.

    Super useful, saved me a lot of time figuring out how to get the motor housing out of my D4 unit - as suspected, full of hair causing a clean brush error. Good as new again now! Thank you 👍

    Thank you so much for this. I needed a teardown guide for the D3 and it's extremely similar. The side brushes aren't there and there are two more screws under the bumper (two up top and two below the bot). It's basically identical otherwise. Got my lidar spinning again in little over an hour!

    Thank you so much for the video. My motor brush head got worn off just like yours. I was able to pull it all apart with your video and put in a replacement. Think the hair from my dogs caused tension on that head piece and it slowly got hot and the tips got warn off. Basically making the brush not work at all as the drive just spun within the brush.
    One headache was getting the T10 screwdriver that could take apart the D7. They have deep recesses so a normal screwdriver head with that attachment wouldn't fit into the holes. Had to buy a pure T10 tool that would fit. After that though got it all figured out and replaced the part with this videos help. Thanks again!

    worked for me on my d75, tackled some clicking noise from the "drive-train", glad to see here how easy the motor-assembly was to remove.
    the circuitboard on the d75 is a lot bigger, over the whole width of the neato, partly covering the brush-motor, so you have to loosen the circuit-board to access the motor.

    Thank you!!! I couldn't find a way to factory reset the robot (I was getting annoying "reboot me" errors). I decided to take it apart to see if I just needed to clean my laser lens. I could not figure out how to take it apart. with your help, I opened it, brushed out some garbage, cleaned the hair out of the brush motor belt (who knew!?!), cleaned the laser lens, and blew the rest out with my air compressor. It's running fine now, so I hope that was what was wrong. Thank you, again!!!

    thank you so much! my neato's motor gear was fused to the shaft, completely immobile and i could not for the life of me figure out why. i pried it off and there was a lump of plastic slag around the base of the shaft, and a missing chunk of plastic from the base of the gear. it must get hot! chipped off the slag, popped the gear back on, and put her back together. crossing my fingers it lasts a bit longer!

    Thank you so much for this video! It's the best one on here in my opinion. I sent mine to the repair company recommended by Neato, and they missed the worn gear. Thanks to you, I fixed it myself for $26 and avoided another 3 weeks of not having my vacuum! We bought a set of Kobalt star screwdrivers just for this robot, but they're not magnetic- but I had no issues dropping the screws into the deep 'abyss" and getting them hand-tight.

This helped me big time to get the motor out and to verify that the plastic piece that spins and turns the brush is perfectly smooth now not a hexagon and therefore the piece is just spinning because it's stripped out. So, now I need to find that piece somewhere. I anyone happens to know where I can get this piece it would be muchly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

    *I run the m6 daily, and my floors look awesome🌼 **allabout.wiki/Neato** I wet mop 2 days and dry sweep the rest of the days. When I first got it, I used the included disposable pads. I didn't like them--the dry pad has no depth so if it picks up a chunk of something, like dry cat food, then it pushes it around or drags it around the floor. The wet pad wasn't very absorbent so left streaks and wheel marks.*

  • @sander3909
    @sander3909 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for this very thorough video. Do you happen to know how to get the wheels off. My Neato drove right through my cat's little poopy accident on the floor. I saw a video for a newer model, but doesn't apply to my D6.

    • @bobris
      @bobris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't gotten that far yet, but the small rollers have some dog hair in them that I can't get to, so if I ever find the time, I might do a complete deconstruction at some point. I can't speak for the D6, but I know you pretty much need to take the entire main board and motors out to get to the drive wheels.

    Anyone had any luck getting the reboot me error fixed? I tore everything down and cleaned the lidar pieces but no luck. I am assuming it is the lidar motor as the lidar lens unit isn't spinning.

    • @bobris
      @bobris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a shame. I managed to get it running just by "freeing" it by hand. If the motor doesn't spin at all, I'd check if it can be moved by hand and then check the cabling to the motor. It could be as simple as a worn belt if you haven't looked at that yet.

    • @marketsmove
      @marketsmove 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bobris Checked all the above and honestly no issues. I tried replacing the o-ring/belt that spins the Lidar but that was no use. I went ahead and ordered a new lidar motor and will try swapping that out. Trying to limit the cost of just throwing parts at it but it is either that or the board under the lidar. Thanks for the help and video, this made it super simple

    • @marketsmove
      @marketsmove 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobris Just swapped the motor (B08HH1K8QK) Lidar Motor and Lidar O-Ring (B07SJTJPPB) reassembled and we are off to the races now. Thanks again for the thorough video of getting into the D5. Post part info for others if they are running into the "Reboot Me" error and identify the lidar tower isn't spinning. This fix cost $25 bucks and was much faster and cheaper than sending it off for repairs outside of warranty. Cheers!

      @bobris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brianbrian4317 i think the biggest problem is locating parts. The "brush motor gear" or whatever it may be called seems hard to find. I found someone 3D printing them on eBay but I wouldn't trust the strength, especially since you've stripped the original. I wonder if contacting neato might help. If you watch the video you can see where I take out the brush motor assembly, it's really easy to open from there.

    This is NOT how you open the Neato D7 unless you want to break it. The vibration pads left at the end are broken off pieces of plastic from the motors plastic housing. To open you Neato D7 follow through this video until minute 8. Afterwards do NOT use a screwdriver. Instead, push upwards on the plastic housing unit from the bottom of neato (the groove the has the brush removed). The entire motor with its plastic case will pop upwards with very little pressure. Then you will use a thin flat head screwdriver to gently pry 3 plastic clips which will allow you to open the gear unit and remove any stuck hair or change the belt if needed.
