While the Chinese sub unit had 6 members just like the Korean sub unit, only 4 out of the 6 members in the Chinese unit were actually Chinese. The other 2 members were Korean, but still sang in Chinese and promoted in the Chinese unit. You should react to EXO MAMA chinese version. You probably didnt notice, but every member´s power in EXO k have their own match in EXO M. Here is a list of each power match : 6:10 - shows D.O (earth which gives him strength) and Chen (lightning/Thunder/electricity), you can see the thunder at the back 6:13 - here shows Sehun (wind) with a butterfly which and then goes to Tao (controls time) 6:24 - we have Chanyeol (fire) with a feather on fire which then goes to Kris (flight) 6:27 / 6:37 - Suho (water) splashes water on the mirror and when he wipes it, Xiumin (frost) appears instead 6:36 - Kai (teleportation) is shown together with Luhan (telekinesis) 6:42 - here we see Baekhyun (Light) shooting light into the mirror and then Lay (healing) appears on the other side of the mirror
“To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012 -- So "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV. It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the groups concept. From the very beginning EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet EXO and they came to Earth with super powers to protect the Tree of Life. Each of the members has a super power that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary. The groups concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. Now you also need to know that in the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. “To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012 -- So "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV. It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the groups concept. From the very beginning EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet EXO and they came to Earth with super powers to protect the Tree of Life. Each of the members has a super power that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary. The groups concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents.
Now you also need to know that in the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. (So the story in the beginning is explaining the groups legend and why they are split into two groups and what they have been sent to Earth to do.) So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "MAMA," not just the K version, because even though both the K and M versions of "Mama" feature all 12 of the members, the K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the M version focuses on the M members and their powers. Plus, this is a good opportunity for you to hear what the song sounds like in both Mandarin and Korean. (I encourage you to watch EXO-M's version of "MAMA" even if you don't react to it and really listen to the introduction story at the beginning. Now that you know a little more about what it is trying to tell you, you will probably start to understand more of why EXO does the things they do and what makes them so special.) However, since then 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now, because they no longer have enough Chinese members they no longer do separate promotions where the group is split up, but they still produce all their songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. Their fandom name is EXO-L because L falls right between K and M and I like to think it stands for Love. 😍
In Korean MAMA is a term they use to address a leader or King or queen. Its a term of reverence and respect. It's similar to saying "Your majesty." If you watch very many historical Korean dramas you will hear the characters call the royal family and especially the head of the royal family or leader "Mama." So in this song they are speaking to the leader or deity who sent them to Earth, essentially asking, "Now that I'm here, Your Majesty what should I do? How do I fulfill what you have sent me to do? etc."
To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs here is a list of the members and what their special power is.

Suho : water (Fun fact: did you know that Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO,? That's why as the leader of EXO, Kim Jun Myeo's stage name is Suho) Baekhyun : Light

Sehun : Wind
EXO-M

Chen : thunder/lightning/electricity (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M)

Kris: Flight (He was the leader of EXO-M when they used to promote as two separate groups.)

Oh yes, Exo -m the mandarin version shows the other 6 members that wasn’t in the korean one. Also the ones that relate to mama is luckyone and power. Exo makes their comeback into a story. Their comebacks are connected and has something to relate to each other. Also, each Exo members has powers, that’s why u see them having water, fire, wind , etc. Exo started of with 12 members but 3 left just in case u don’t know.
Now you really need to check out the Chinese version of Mama! It introduces/shows the powers of the other members.
