    You keep stroking your pan mate you aint bothering anyone else!
    Just throwed my non stick Trangia Pan in the bin, had it since 1989 so the damage is probably done now.
    You made me think ... do wee need to get pans that clean anyway? As long as the food remnants are gone the residue can build up, like on a cast Iron pan and make the best non stick surface!
    Great little vid. Keep em coming big lad! 👍

      Hi mate, on the plus side you've got some use out of that Trangia pan! You're right about cleaning them, there's no real need. I've got that big Petromax iron hot plate in the woods, I've never cleaned it with anything but warm water and it's become non stick and it'll never rust. 👍

    Enjoyed seeing the beautiful woods. Figured only lords and ladies could afford such in UK. Thanks also for the demonstration on the anodized Trangia fry pan.

    Had my anodised since 2019 still good. Clean same as you using silicon spoon. Clean soot from underside when on spirits with washing up liquid - bake it then rinse off

    Ah, a glimpse of the trusty Hilux!👍
    Hehehe...nice one about the pan-stroking, we all know outdoorsy folks have their quirks, luckily they are mostly harmless😄
    (My breathing gets a bit heavy when handling Aluminium Cases, the Zarges kind...🤷‍♂️)
    As for the leaching of substances out of pans...well, we all going to kick the bucket at the end...still wouldn't miss a good cookout over a fire or campstove.😉
    As always truly enjoyed your video, and hope to see some overlanding stuff soon!
    Cheers from 🇨🇭🍻

      Hi mate, I can also appreciate a good aluminium case 😂. Hope we can get back out in the Hilux next year; that's if the fuel prices come down, my truck is the 3 litre version and really drinks the diesel. Thanks for watching and take care 👍

    This was brilliant thank you! Fantastic cooking and I loved the details about improving the forest. I have been in two minds over the NS or HA versions of the 25 and 27 and you have helped me decide to go with the HA finish. I’ll definitely check out your channel for more content! 👍 also thank you for introducing us to that cool little coffee filter system I’ll try and find some similar here in AUS!

      Thanks! The HA is the way to go I think, it will last much longer than the non stick stuff 👍 Cheers.

    • @totoblaubar8393
      @totoblaubar8393 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I exchanged my HA pan by a NS Pan. The heat of the burner in this setup is focused on a more or less small spot and it often happened that stuff burned in the middle of the pan. NS is much easier to clean and slightly burned food will not stick immediately to the surface. There is no rational reason to avoid NS coatings. For the pots I still use HA, if they are filled with water the liquid will spread the heat. Stainless steel also sucks as Pan, I have the Tatonka set. The only useful stainless steel pan I know is from Stanley cause of the sandwhich bottom.

      Using a gallon of oil may fix all issues with the HA pan 😜 I tried to go the hard way and made cheese macaroni in that pan.

    I just came across this while going down the Trangia cooking rabbit hole. Looking good! Even expensive home kitchen non-stick pans last a few years, so you definitely got your moneys worth from the old pan. I’ve got the HA 25 as well and love cooking on it with a healthy dose of oil like you did. I’ve since gotten the non-stick fry pan with folding handle for the kit. Just for more delicate stuff like eggs and pancakes.

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I still use the non stick from time to time, same as you, mainly for cooking eggs. Anything else and the HA seems to do fine with a good splash of oil! 👍

    Great video Ben.
    It's been 40c here for the last 3 days and it's set to continue for the next 3, to be honest it's getting unbearable - averaging between 6 and 7 cold showers a day.
    The active ingredient in foxgloves is digitalis and the brand name of the tablet is digoxin and it's to balance arrythmias.
    You're woodlands are looking fabulous and you have both obviously done a lot of work to open it up. Really enjoyed your description of how the large mammals kept the woodlands in healthy balance.
    I've been up on my finca (20 hectares of land) doing much the same, clearing the underbrush and felling the really large pines but because it's so hot at the moment I have been hammocking overnight, getting up at 5 and working until 11 when it's just too hot to work.
    Loved that little coffee filter stand, great piece of engineering. Where did you buy it?
    ATB mate

      Thanks Paul. I think that same heatwave is heading north today, although it's cool and raining at the moment. It sounds like you're living the dream down there, that's a decent sized plot of land! I bet it's a real struggle working the land even in the normal summer temperatures over there. Tris and I have spent many hours looking at fincas in both Spain and Portugal, one day maybe.
      I got the filter from Valley and peak (valleyandpeak.co.uk), there's a link in the video description. It makes a good coffee! Take care mate.

    get a plate 1.5-2.5mm thick same diameter as the outer pot and put some holes in it and use it as a heatspreader so heat wont be so centered

      @@Adventure-Outdoors yeah I think they're worth the investment as they last forever. Weather here is a mild 35c today. @@Adventure-Outdoors yeah fire risk is too high, loads of wildfires here at present, worst for years. Way up in the Pyrenees is usually ok as it's cooler. I have a couple of trips planned. I really want to get to Scotland in Oct or Nov but can't risk booking flights as so many cancellations. Might have to be next year now, maybe the WHW. I'll see. you're welcome to Spain anytime! Have you ever watched the Harmen Hoek TH-cam channel? He has some brilliant hikes in the Pyrenees and links to his gpx files too, so I'm hoping to do one or two of those. I think you'd like his channel. Where you off next?

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whatsnottohike Yeah it looks a bit dodge flying at the moment, I think BA and Easyjet are the two problem airlines. I do watch Harmen Hoek, the hikes he done in the Pyrenees look great. We're supposed to fly to Reykjavik in a months time but I'm not holding my breath, there's train strikes either side of the day we're due to fly so I'm not sure if we'll even be able to get to the airport never mind Iceland.
      You should definitely do the WHW, it's probably not the most spectacular hike you can do but it's great crack, probably like the Camino where you get to meet loads of people along the way.
