  • I will start off by saying I was unable to film a lot of the process on this one. Our son has hit that teething stage and really needed Mama, so Daddy was on his own quite a bit.
Quick, simple, and cheap was our goal for this goose house and gosh darn it we did it! We used 6 free pallets a business was tossing, some 2x4s from a job site that were also going to be tossed, and one OSB sheet we bought while the other was also labeled as junk at a job site. The hardware cloth was left over from building our chickens coop this last winter.
2 pallets for the side walls held together with a 2x4 across the top and bottom and the OSB on the outside making one solid wall. The back wall is our garage that the chicken coop is also attached to. We used 2x4s connected straight to the wall to tie in the coop walls and the roof. The front wall was 2 pallets with a gap between them to allow one to swing open on hinges as a door, and as you can see in the video it took a bit of trimming to get the angle right for the swing, but we got there! The floor is the same hardware cloth we used for the windows to keep any predators out.
Later we'll add paint, a door handle, and we'll keep an eye out for any scrap roofing we can throw on top to extend the building's life.
