I really enjoyed that. It's been decades since I visited Avebury. Our parents took my brother and I to see Avebury, Silbury Hill, and Stonehenge. This was before Stonehenge was fenced off, so we were very lucky to be able to get in amongst the stones. Such a shame you can't do that now, as you really can't get the full experience, viewing it from a distance. At least Avebury's not like that.

I've been there many times Bob and Jenny as it's local to me. The best times are sunrise in the summer when there is very little traffic on that road and the birds in the surrounding trees are just starting to stir and move around. It has a magical feel to it then which is somewhat lost when visiting in the day when it becomes quite busy as I'm sure you noticed. Great video though for subscribers to your channel to get a feel of the place.

Wonderful day out! I love Avebury. Whenever I drive through Wiltshire I try to spare a few minutes for my "old friend". I actually wrote a pop song about Avebury and I am making a accompanying video. I thought you were at stone henge ,love that museum interesting for my hobby :) please be careful with your dog and yourself last w/e in my hobby walked down a path I thought I got stung by nettles but was giant hogwart hand swollen and blisters for a week now :( never heard of it before) love this video :) lest we forget .Dan my late father took on his club lol ,love the history best wishes :)

The outer bank of the Henge was originally three times the size and would have been white from the chalk natural. My favourite place to visit.

There is a woodhengde a few mile away Silbury hill and also all the crop circles this time of year
Bob, are you familiar with Farley Henge? While exploring with google earth, I found a distinct henge called Farley Henge near Swindon. However, there is really no mention of this henge on Google search. The image from google earth is quite clear, resembling the famous stone henge. I love this neolithic history, and I've visited several sites in this area, but farley henge is a new one to me.
