The re-hab exercises by the physical or occupational therapist will be of so much benefit to your mom. They will retrain those muscles in the shoulder and strengthen them. Also they will attempt to fix any bad posture habits or neck issues that affect the upper body strength . With time she will be better than before as she will be watching for strain and correcting issues before they get over worked. Everyone can benefit from having a PT or OT follow us around and pointing out learned behaviors that do damage and showing us a safer way. But it will be a year before she is up to speed.

Yo! To pass an OSHA inspection, (Or just county code enforcement, You MUST add either vertical balusters, or horizontal railings between the floor and the top rail with no more than 4" spacing so toddlers can't get through!! (Check your local and OSHA code for specifics!) You have turned a deadly pit into a bit safer place, but for customers and employees to traverse that area and stairway, you need to get it right. It will cost much less than paying the huge fine and then being forced to get it right. It ain't the wild west anymore, especially when you just showed your county code enforcement officer how he is going to earn next week's paycheck! I love the work ethic, but those rules and regulations are there for a reason, and the penalties for ignoring them are steep indeed! Yes, on the idea, but no on the execution. Please consult the county or state for rules or consult a licensed general contractor before you get "scratches" on the family wallet.

Your arena gate needs a wheel to stop pulling out the screws. Much the same as a large driveway gate has. Gravity and constant exposure to the weather is hard for a bracket to keep tight in wood. Good to see your mom out & about. I've had shoulder surgery, tore the tendon from the bone and it had to be pulled up and reattached to the bone to be able to raise my arm. I remember that pain very well and I don't wish it on her or you! When the brace finally comes off and she can once again raise her arm it will hurt but it will be a joy you have to go through to really understand. Lol

Looks like your mother is on the mend, but she does need to be careful to protect her shoulder around the horses. Nice to see someone enjoying their horse and the arena. It is sometime since you took us along on a trail ride. The hand rail is looking good, I think a bit of sanding on the edges of the wood would not be a waste of time, it is important that no one picks up a splinter in their hand from the edge of the wood.

Doesn't the fly predator actually lay their eggs in the larvae of the flies, then their hatched larvae eat the fly larvae from the inside which kills the fly larvae?
I know of a zoo that uses this method to reduce the fly population.

I'm a bit surprised you didn't use wood glue for the railings, if it's there for the long run. I'm no expert tho 😁 If possible, you should invest on clamps, and installing wheels on that very long swing gate. That must be quite heavy to lift (or swing) in and out for some ppl, no? Again, I'm no expert tho 🙏☺️
Glad your Mom is feeling better and can go out of the house for a bit now. Thanks for the video 🙏

I found you via Veggie Boys very recently. I figured you had a channel because you always had a Camera.
Is your stable a boarding and training facility? It is very well kept and designed.
You brought back memories of my Sister Jennifer. She passed when she was 41 from Cancer. She was both a Western and Dressage Coach. She also trained Riders for the Canadian RCMP Musical Ride.
I see you talking to the horses and I remember Jenny used to talk to them like her best friends. She had a rescued Gelding who was Dutch Warm Blood crossed with Percheron. His name was Knight and wherever she went on the farm he protected her. I have a love of the intelligence of these animals and I know she would have approved of your care and obvious concern for them.
I'm in Western Canada and I really find I love how all of you work together. Take care of yourself Joel.

Hey Joel. A simple and cheap tool you might want to consider is a speed square. It'll help you mark your boards (vs using a level). You can also hold it on the wood and use it as a fence to run the saw up against. Great job on the railing!

  • @franksmith3602
    @franksmith3602 ปีที่แล้ว

Ok guy... heres your tip how to fix the gate.......
    1. No hinge is going to hold up a 15 foot swing gate.
At the hinge, wood post. Buy 15 feet of 2" steal gas pipe.. dig a hole next to the wood post a few inch off. Just like a fence post, sink at least 3 feet of the 15 feet in the ground, out gravel in the hole. Weld rebar 12" long on the 3 feet going into the post hole.
Fill the hole with bag concrete. Set the pole, make sure to tie off 2x4, at a angle to keep the 2" pipe standing up. When the post is set. On top of the, 2" standing, up. Drill a hole up near the top. Set in a stainless steal eye lit. Run a cable, from the eye lit to the top of the gate where it opens..tie it off. The gate will swing freely. And not RIP the hinges off.
You can also....bolt on a spring wheel, under the gate on the end that opens, let the wheel take the weight of the gate..

LOVED pop-up Gavin. He always makes me laugh. Glad to see you got more of those rain medicines. I hope you get some nice consecutive dry days. I have never heard of that fly stuff. I'm learning so much from your channel, even though I worked at a stable for a few years to barter for horseback riding time when I was a kid.
