Jerry, thank you for talking about this so sensitively. As you know, I'm a new fan and some of the negativity, I've seen, regarding this issue is heartbreaking. Thank you for for making this video and bringing a more positive view. For putting forward ways that a tour could work, etc.....
Its sad whats happening especially to new fans because we didnt get to see him in his prime. And kind of frustrating for us millenials because we could have become fans, way sooner but we were guess we were following other artists ir bands and we wished we would have paid attention sooner We could have become fans in in early 2000s with the huge hit of its my life but at that time I was crazy with Mexican singer Paulina Rubio and in 2004 went crazy with Madonna. I wished I was a fan before. Now new fans we can watch him in his glory days on TH-cam and listen to all his old material on Spotify. The band had a fantastic Run we silly millenials came late to the fandom party.
I think future for Bon Jovi is maybe more in the studio because sound engineers and technology can help a lot, making songs sound more harmonious. I love Bon Jovi since 1987 and I hope from the deepest of my heart that his voice will get better. Other idea maybe movies soundtracks. Anyway I wish them all the best !
It really isn’t easy as a fan to admit that it’s time for the group you love to call it quits. I went to the Omaha show last year and it was very clear that something was wrong. I wish he would talk about it. It’s always best to be open and honest even if it’s hard.
Gotta feel for Jon. He’s given it his all for like 40 years, he’s given us so much. I fell in love with the band when they released Slippery (mid eighties) and I gotta agree. Jon has given it almost 18 months now and it hasn’t improved. It’s very sad. And I’ve no doubt (knowing how Jon goes about things) Jon has tried everything he can to improve the situation. But unfortunately there seems to be little improvement. And I agree, I don’t see Jon announcing a Tour when he’s in the current situation he’s in
Great discussion guys. If next year does turn out to be the final curtain call then its been one hell of a steel horse ride. Ive been a fan of this band since 1986 and I have seen them give their all in those 40+ years. It breaks my heart to see Jon being ripped apart for his vocals by casual and non fans of the band. I was excited to see Jon singing again yesterday too but it broke my heart to see that not much improvement has been made. Currently, hes not ready for next years tour. I totally get why some fans dont want to hear about Jons vocal issues and say he sounds great but sadly thats not the case. I have every faith in Jon. I really hope he can work it out. I will love this band till the end and beyond. Bon Jovi Forever
I was a fan of Donny Osmond and he did have vocal problems but he overcame and he sounds great. I’m 63 and I sang in my choir for years and now I can’t do it anymore. If Jon realizes his voice is no longer good enough for concerts he will stop. I don’t like negativity either so give him respect he deserves. God gave him his talent of singing and he has been blessed. I wish Jon the appreciation he deserves ❤
@@sarahapostolidou3667 Since she has stated in a couple of interviews that she has suffered from depression due to Richie's sudden departure and could not sing even in the shower, it seems that it is not enough for you to know what is happening to her.
Jon knew his voice started to decline in 2014, he even said it! He didn't start sounding bad until the last tour! If you watch videos prior to that tour you will see how much his voice declined!
Thanks for your podcast and talking honest (but in a positive way). You both got really good points- we'll see how it will go. I hope for the best for him and also (selfishly 😉) for us fans. And if the band will do some kind of tour, I will try to see them!
I have only seen bonjovi concert on you tube when people post them on you tube if John bongovi wants to retire it’s up to him to decide that for him self if he feels like he Can’t sing up to his standards then he can decide to retire from Singing yes he is much older now he has been singing a long time for 40 yrs or more so if he wants to retire it’s up to him not anyone else to decide for him
As sad as I am about the reality, I’m happy to see almost all fans accepting this reality. 2017-19 had some decent moments, but I don’t think he’s been at a professional level since a bit after 2013. Like you said, it’s “their” legacy-Jon’s, Richie’s, David’s, Tico’s, Hugh’s, and Alec’s-and watching my frontman tarnish it (unfortunately there’s no real way around that) is tough. Really hasn’t been our band since 2013. But hey, 30 years is an incredible run and far longer than most. As for a new tour, agree that it should be very limited. Also, if you give Richie 2 songs of his choice to sing and Dave 1-2, as both are still in great vocal condition. That means Jon can only sing 14-15 for an 18 show setlist, which is acceptable. That’s obviously contingent on a Richie return, but it would be a great help
What if instead of a tour we get a movie like bohemian rhapdody about Bon Jovi. And the promo its done by the members of the band. Or 50/50 part of the promo tour by the cast and part by the real band. But do a huge campaign on the film with huge premieres where maybe before the exhibition of the film we see the band do a few acoustic songs and then the film starts. But this would be my perfect goodbye to the band. A great music biopic just like bohemian rhapdody. The cast do some TV shows to promote film a few others with the real members of the band. And a long tour of Premieres with the band doing a 5 song acoustic concert before the movie begins.
I got into Bon Jovi in 2020 and personally, I connect more with the music they did with Richie. However, I don't see Richie coming back to the band, due to all the stuff he's said over the years, and his recent comments about Phil X and John Shanks. He even brought up Jon's vocal issues in February, which was not his place to say. I just think he and Jon aren't in a good place to come together again. Jon has been struggling since 2013, maybe even longer than that. Besides the two and a half hour long setlists, Jon has always been on-the-go. The pandemic was the first time he really slowed down and took a break from performing. I don't expect Jon to sound like how he did in the '80s, but it's not fair to the fans that want to see a great show, nor is it fair to the band because musically, the band sounds great. Jon, on the other hand, is in pain and cannot do it anymore. If he proves me wrong, that'd be great. I'm not saying this out of hate. I'm just saying that Jon is not fit to perform anymore. I agree that 2024 would be a good time to do a small farewell tour and call it quits. Leave on a good note because at this point, Bon Jovi have nothing more to prove.
I saw their one night only set in Atlantic City when they released their first box set. EVERYONE sang songs- even Tiko, while Jon played the drums. It was awesome. Bring Ritchie back- he can sing a few, Phil X can sing a few, David sings some and then Jon does whatever he can handle. Make it a Storyteller session so Jon can talk about some of their stories and his writing. That’s the way to do it. When Ritchie was in the band he always had one big moment while Jon rested, but he never gave Phil and very rarely David that chance. I think they could crush it.
I honestly thought he sounded amazing live right up until he caught covid. I truly think this had a massive impact on his voice. I've been a massive fan since I was 6yrs old and my boys even love him. I will always support Bon Jovi and Jon as its beyond their control what's happened with Jon's voice. Just a shame we won't get him to tour the UK anymore.😭😭😭💔
I am a voice teacher, and I think your observations are right. He probably needs to take Nattokinase to break down the spike routine. Also, the vaccine spike protein stays in the body much longer than they originally thought. It just keeps replicating. Spike protein is very harmful….nattokinase and fasting.
@Chris-sm8pp I feel deeply sorry for him as he didn't really get too much time to recover before going back on tour. He's always been an amazing showman, so he's always wanted to give 100% to his fans. Those who gave him grief for his voice not being at his best on tour, clearly can't be true fans or they'd have understood his predicament.
It sucks, but we have to let it go. We all get old. He's been on top of the game for decades. He needs to change the entire dynamic of the band. Needs to go more in a TLFR direction and drop the anthemic sound. I get it, everyone watching BJ for the first time wants to listen to Prayer as it was '86. This isn't 86 and this isn't the same band. He has to drop the electric version of Prayer, Bad Name, etc. This may mean dropping stadium tours all together and that's fine. We need to accept it for what it is. We need a more Cohen, Dylan type of sound and we can get BJ for another 10 yrs. He can certainly still write incredible stuff. I don't want them to be another Kiss and just half play everything. Just not worth it. Nothing to prove.

Huge fan of Bon Jovi but his voice just isnt there anymore! He sang his ass off for many years and it took its toll! Its cool they are making a new album but i just cant see him doing a big tour! The new music will probably be slow and keyed down to accommodate his voice!
I don't agree with your friend. We say all these things because we're being honest and personally I don't want to see him struggling to sing that doesn't suit Jon Bon Jovi. And I don't know if he tours how is he going to sing. I think it's better not to tour he is going to damage his voice completely. He has to find something else to celebrate the 40 years of the band
