      Thanks! I am still thinking of making a small adjustment to them, a smalle pouring handle attached to it. Very happy with them as my old crucible was useless without them.👍👍👍

    good video. thanks for the suggestion, that actually is the style of lifting tongs i wanted to make.

      Thanks! I just upgraded to newer grabbing and pouring tongs. The tongs in this video are great to lift out crucibles in a furnace with some room left. I recommend my lifting tongs I made here: th-cam.com/video/MLS2xmILPrY/w-d-xo.html
      You can also make them with a just two grabbers instead of the four I have. For my 4kg furnace I made exactly the same with two grabbing hooks. You can see it in action here: th-cam.com/video/rxnFJDDUMjU/w-d-xo.html

    Nicely done, this version is used by many metal casters I have seen, wanted to make a few in diffirent sizes for diffirent crucibles myself, but no welding tools either 😭

      Thanks Ralph. Actually I have made two tongs when I was at my uncles house. As my brass crucible is a little bit different in size. In need to get my hands on a affordable welder. Not that I am gonna use it a lot, but it so easy if you don't have to rely on someone else

    I appreciate your Safety First motto!
    Will the crucible expand slightly when it is full of molten metal?

    • @Metalstacker
      @Metalstacker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As far as I know the crucible does not expand. I have made new lifter tongs for my bigger furnace and they work much better. I just need to make some too for the small furnace aswell.

      @Metalstacker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hope this will help :) It is ideal for lifting, but for pouring I'd make a proper pouring shank ;)
