I have a couple Bose L1 model 2 , with 2 subs each, ( one is a backup system ) just like your set up. I do allow the audience to see the subs so they fully understand that the tweeters are not providing the full, rich bass they are hearing . These systems are the best, in my opinion, on the market. I have so many other sound systems to choose from, but I doubt that I will ever use one of them again. This system is so compact and easy to set up and take down, with only one person ! I love to watch the audience when I start the first song. The people instantly look toward the setup to see where that rich, full sound is coming from ! I don't use anything, but a laptop. In reserve I have a couple flash drives and memory cards. I have a couple microphones on stands because there is usually some that want to sing. This is a crowd pleaser !
I like this setup. I just ordered another B2 sub and Packlite amp so I can have 2 subs with my current L1/M2 system. My current L1/M2/B2 system sounds great at gigs already so I can't wait to hear how it sounds at gigs with the added subwoofer.
Hi, i need help. Is this ok for electronic music? I see that the frequency response is up to 12khz, it seems short, may be hi hats and high synth frequencies would be cut? This would be decisive for the purchase. thanks for any help!
I have L1 Model 2 and I want to add 2B2 subwoofers with the L1 model 2 system. I want to exclude the B1 totally from the connection . Please how do I go about it.
Thanks for the post. Wanted to pick your brain regarding the T1. I know you've stated that you're using it here, but do you have any experience with going direct from a DJ mixer/controller to the L1 amp without using the T1? If I have already have good mixers/controllers (Pioneer DJM S9 & Pioneer DDJ SX2) with good analog outputs, built-in EQ etc., how necessary is the T1? Seems to me like the Tonematch is more useful for live musicians, but does it really make it sound that much better for a DJ setup? Is there really much, or any, noticeable difference? Thanks for any help
Thats a great question i have used both analog plug ins and tone match 4 with two ethernet cables the dj set up is flawless i use two l1s in my living room so tonematch 1 or 4 is my choice
Thank you for the video. I'm thinking to get this but don't you need monitor speaker separately behind of bose? or does the sound clear enough to mix even though standing behind of it? also For the DJ controller or mixer output, did you need Y mono splitter? Thank you again.
if you have a T1 tone match you simply run XLR out from mixer L & R masters to channels 4/5 on tone match (1/4 tip ring sleeve) also for monitoring I use Aux out on tone match to any powered speaker of your choice, (I got a bose S1 as monitor)
Hi Chris, I'm a solo singer and use the L1 Moell ll with B2 Base...if I had two B2 Bases, would that give me more volume for larger venues? Also, I'm not technical...how did you connect your two Bases to the power stand?? Thanks in advance...Jayne
I think that 2299 euro (on THOMANN) for the Bose is too much especially if you use in a wedding with 70 people. Hope you will tell me that you tried both BOSE and MAUI and you choose BOSE for better sound. Do you think that BOSE's price is right? Thanks
The sound is definitely different. The B2 has more kick to the bass. The F1 to me seems voiced for hip hop and EDM. The bass is not as tight, almost like an 18" sub. The woofers on the F1 move so much more air and definitely go louder. I would say 1 F1 is about the bass level of 2 B2's. The F1 system seems to go louder overall as well. I like the sleeker look of the L1 on certain events. I personally don't like the sound when mixing the 2 lines together. If your sticking with the L1, I would invest in more B2's. I tried 3 B2's to 1 L1 M2 and it sounded awesome. And you have flexibility with different set ups. I hope that helps.
This system advertise for 500 people... you said after 175 people double the sticks... real life situation this system doesn't cover 500 people? or maybe 500 quiet people i guess.
100x35Tutorials Hello, Yes they advertise 500 people, and I can believe it but only in the right environment. Maybe if the L1 was elevated on a stage and you were in a quiet auditorium. For dancing and music playback, I would not go past 220 or so people using 1 L1 and 2 B2's. Maybe 250 people would be ok if the tower was elevated a couple feet.
ODDEPOXY Hello! I have to use 2 Packlite amps. The packlite has a line out so I can parallel multiple amps. You can technically run as many bass modules as you like, as long as they each have an amp.
I had and sold the f1 because they didn't come wth covers and there light dark gray they got scratched up scuffed up really fast the little grills got dented they sound great but the l1 model 2 is much more practicle you will never scratch it or scuff it because as soon as you tear down goes in a case i have 2 b2 bass with bbe sonic maximizer and the floor shakes sound is clearer with it i used the stomp bbe sonic

hello, what do u think comparing this with the Bose F1 ? i have a the L1 model 2 with one B2 sub and the Bose F1 Sub , don't know if i should sell the L1 off to get more F1.
Love this review. Thankyou. I am wanting to buy the L1 model 1S system with B1 base module... I was concerned I’d need to pay for 2 x systems (2 sticks so to speak) which is going to be expensive. Your video proves you can do a party with just the one... in your opinion, would you say that 1 LS model (stick) with 1 or 2 B1 base modules be enough? I’m thinking of audiences no more than 200 people.
Stephanie Johnstone Hi Stephanie, I think it all depends on the volume level you want to provide. I think an L1S with a B2 can handle a crowd of 200, especially if the tower was elevated on a stage. For a mature (ballroom music, jazz, Sinatra, oldies, acoustic) crowd, I would say yes. The L1’s really benefit from being elevated. If there a lot of bodies in front of the tower, the sound gets absorbed pretty quick. 1 B2 (IMO) has way more thump than 2 B1’s. I can defiantly say it rivals 4 B1’s. I have actually switched to the F1 system from Bose, because as a DJ I find them more flexible and scalable. The L1 can be used a DJ system, but I think it is better suited for a stage performer.
Happy Afternoon! Our existing unit is L1 model II with B1 Bass and T1. >>QQuestion? We want to improve the coverage and loudness. Is it possible to attach F1/812 or B2 Bass module? ASAP thanks
Jack Lacerna Hello Jack, You mentioned you’d like to increase coverage? Do you mean you need to cover larger area’s or need more bass? If you need more bass the B2’s would defiantly be a big improvement over the B1’s. Increasing the coverage can come in many ways. You mentioned possibility using the L1 in conjunction with the F1 812, and that’s a possibility. I would put the L1 or L1’s (if you have 2 systems) in the center area spaced at least 20 feet apart. Then I would put the 812’s on stands and space them about 60-80 feet apart. This will give you really wide coverage. The only downside to this is you either need 2 outputs from your mixer, or really long cables to connect to the 812 first, then output to the L1. The L1 does not have a thru output. The other way to do this, if to find a way to elevate the L1 towers. I have found that people dancing blocks a lot of the sound going to the back of the room, so if you elevate the L1’s that would help coverage immediately in a packed dance floor. I’m only speaking from my experience as a wedding DJ. It might be different for your application. What are using the speaker systems for? Thanks!
Cris C. The use of the speakers are for venues like birthdays and seminars. But is it possible to attach b2 bass to the l1 with the b1 bass playing together? Is it complicated combining the two bass module? Thanks alot cris!!
Jack Lacerna You will need a Packlite amplifier to use the B2 & B1 together. You can use (2) B1’s with the power stand. I personally think 1 B2 will be a bit louder than a pair of B1’s. I also have B1’s so I am familiar with what their capable of. For your application I wouldn’t see the need to grow any larger than 1 B2.
great Video. It just seems like you have add a lot of Bass Modules to get the same sound as an 18 inch powered Sub. I am looking into Bose simply for weight and set up but I am looking at the overall cost..
Thank you! It is true that the cost of the system can get pretty high. If you are looking to save some money, right now is a good time because of Bose's 10% off winter sale. I would look around your area and try to find a Bose factory outlet store. They should be able to apply the 10% discount on a factory renewed (refurbished) product. So it's like saving 20% off retail price, and you still get the same factory warranty as buying new. For me, it was all about flexibility. For reference, prior to the L1 system, I had a 2 QSC K12's, K8's, KW181 subs. I had Ksubs prior to the KW181, but the Ksub's bass did not seem to not travel very far. I will put the B2 right on par with the Ksub's volume, but since the B2's are direct radiating and not bandpass they seem to carry the sound further. I would say 2 B2's are almost equal to 1 KW181. I like being able to use 1 B2 for events under 100 people, where I could not split an 18" sub. Prior to using QSC I had the JBL PRX500 series PRX 512m & 518S subs, prior to that, the original Mackie SRM450 & SRS-1500 subs, and even prior to that I was using the EV SX200's & SB120a subs. I have 4 Bose 802's as well, and still have them since 1995. So I have used various speakers in the past, and I will say the Bose L1 has been my best investment. I have 2 Model II towers, 4 B2 bass modules, 2 B1 bass modules, and 3 L1 compacts. I will even say that I prefer my L1's to my F1's. The bass on the F1 subwoofer is tuned lower than the B2. I prefer the kick and the mid-bass from the B2. The F1 subwoofer sounds similar to my JBL PRX518s, not as punchy as I like.
I have 2 base speakers with the one Model II with the new TS4 Match Tone, how do I add the connection to the 2nd base speaker. Do I need a special cord to connect the second base speaker?
do you have 2 L1 model 2 and you want to connect 2 b2 speakers. If so you need 1/4 inch cable, run it from the match tone master out to the other speaker at analogue input.
Hi Chris, I have a L1 Mark 2 with a B2 bass and a tone match and use a computer, I just got another B2 Bass How do you go about hooking that up?,They said I need the pack lite power amp which i purchased as well.
strommboy62 Hello! To use the 2nd B2 bass module, just use a 1/4” cable (instrument or trs) to connect the Packlite amp to the “bass line out” on the power stand. That is all, there is no other adjustment needed. Now, the packlite amp seems to limit faster than the power stand. But from personal experience, I have had the limit light on the packlite amp at full red with no audible distortion. This has been a topic in the Bose L1 forums, and Bose has said that this is the way it was designed, but not to worry if you see the red light flash on your Packlite. The amps have limiters to keep from damaging themselves or the speakers.
I run a 1/4 cable from the tone match master output to the other base analogue input and that works great talk to the guys at bose distribution in orange county, california.
Kim Wiltz Hello Kim, No you cannot. You need another amp or the Bose A1 packlite. The B2 is 4 ohms, and that is the lowest resistance that the power stand and the A1 are rated to handle. You can mix the 2 bass modules together and get some pretty good sound, as I've done it before. But Bose only suggest 1 B2 or 2 B1's per amp module.
Kim Wiltz Yes do the update! The B2 reacts and sounds much better with the update and it does not effect the sound when using B1's if you switch back and forth with them. You'll be able to use the 3 different bass settings switch on the B2 if you do the update. If you do not update, the B2 can only be used in the middle setting. Once updated you'll also notice a difference in the middle setting, but now you'll have the control to use the - or + settings.
tickdog3 Hello, the switch triggers different EQ settings to give you a different balance of bass. The Minus setting equals 1 B1 bass module, the Norm equals 2 B1, and the Plus is equal in sound to 4 B1’s. I hope that helps!
You are correct...I mis-spoke. It is 7 feet tall. Even at 7 feet tall I have had issues setting up on some boats that I play on. Interesting to note the system works with only one of the speakers plugged in.
I like the Bose system like these but wouldn't buy one because no one can service them except Bose as far as i know and sooner or later it's gonna need repair go luck with that and have a backup system it will probably take a while js
Hi Chris, Awesome video! I have the L1 Model 2 with 3 Bose B2's, and 1 wanted to couple them all together in the middle of my table. But the NL4 cables were too short to make it look even.Do you have NL4 extensions? I want to get a 4th BOSE B2 to have 4 SUBS TOTAL but I wanted to know how the B2 compares with an EV ZXA1 sub. I don't have alot of space in my car but I think I can possibly squeeze another small sub in there.
DJ EDDIE Hello Eddie, Yes I do have 2 25ft NL4 cables to use when I use all 4. I purchased them from Audiopile.net which I found through the Bose L1 forum. If you are running all 3 B2's together, make sure you have a cable plugged into the bass line out of the L1 tower that does NOT have the packlite amp connected to. When using the B2's with a Model II and something is connected to bass line out, you get a 3 DB drop in reference signal to the tower. You do not have to connect something on the other end of the cable. When I was running 3 B2's at one point, I used a 1ft 1/4" cable and just left is hanging. Ultimately you still gain more volume, but you don't reach those last few DB's till the systems are almost at their peaks. Do that so on lower volume settings your L1's are even. Adding a 4th B2 had much more gains then having 3. I would defiantly recommend it. I have 5 B2's now and if you check out my videos, I actually opened one of them up to see what's inside. I hope this helps! Cris
Thanks for getting back to me Chris, and Thanks for that info. Yes, I have seen your video with the B2. I have only used my system 1 time with all 3 B2's hooked up & I don't remember if I did what you said about the Bass Line Out connections. I do remember though that the the limit lights got in the Red Zone and I wasnt even cranking the speakers. My Tonematch Master Volume was about 6-7 / Tonematch Trim about 6/7, L1 Tower Trim around 6/7 and Mixer Maxed out. I was embarrassed because I had a Girl telling me to " turn it up!" I could'nt because I was hitting the RED limit light on my L1 Tower. If I get a 4th B2, I will need to use the BASS LINE OUT ON BOTH TOWERS, am I right? So will that cause a 3db drop? Also, Please post a video of one of your gigs where you have all of your B2'S playing all at once. That would be awesome to hear!
Hello, in this setup I have a Pioneer DDJ-SX connected to Channel 4 of the Tonematch. I have the "Low Volume Music" Setting. Both B2 Bass Modules are in the + mode. The 2nd B2 Bass Module is driven by an A1 Packlite amp. For the record, I do not use this system anymore. I have since moved to the Bose F1 system.
I have a couple Bose L1 model 2 , with 2 subs each, ( one is a backup system ) just like your set up. I do allow the audience to see the subs so they fully understand that the tweeters are not providing the full, rich bass they are hearing . These systems are the best, in my opinion, on the market. Hi,where did you buy the table top novopro scrim?
Been looking for one to buy but can't find it.
Any help

Hello,
That is an ADJ table top facade. It comes with white or black scrims and the frame is all metal. Try Amazon or eBay.
Hi cris can you use aB1 and B2 with the L1and model 2 at the same time with out another amp ?
Kim Wiltz
Hello Kim,
No you cannot.
Cris C. Thanks again for your help Cris
Would you recommend doing the firmware update for the B2
Kim Wiltz
Yes do the update!

I use a pair of XLR to 1/4” cables and connect to Channel 4/5 on the Tonematch mixer
on the B2 bass module, what does the switch do?
tickdog3
Hello, the switch triggers different EQ settings to give you a different balance of bass. The Minus setting equals 1 B1 bass module, the Norm equals 2 B1, and the Plus is equal in sound to 4 B1’s.
I hope that helps!
Its 8 ft tall....great setup.
Jeffrey Milkey
Hi Jeffrey, Bose states the height is 84” which is 7 feet?
Thanks
You are correct...I mis-spoke. It is 7 feet tall. Even at 7 feet tall I have had issues setting up on some boats that I play on. Interesting to note the system works with only one of the speakers plugged in.
I like the Bose system like these but wouldn't buy one because no one can service them except Bose as far as i know and sooner or later it's gonna need repair go luck with that and have a backup system it will probably take a while js
Bose F1 or this system?
BOSE F1
Hi Chris, Awesome video! I have the L1 Model 2 with 3 Bose B2's, and 1 wanted to couple them all together in the middle of my table. But the NL4 cables were too short to make it look even.Do you have NL4 extensions? I want to get a 4th BOSE B2 to have 4 SUBS TOTAL but I wanted to know how the B2 compares with an EV ZXA1 sub. I don't have alot of space in my car but I think I can possibly squeeze another small sub in there.
DJ EDDIE
Hello Eddie,
Yes I do have 2 25ft NL4 cables to use when I use all 4.
For Bose F1 videos check out my uploads.
Hi Cris, I want to buy the same system like yours. Can you explain your settings to me please? dj controller, computer, Bose tonematch. thanks
@@crisc.4175 what changed to trigger the move to F1?
Not loud enough for a real party

Hello,
I use different settings, but I tend to use Low volume music playback the most.
