  • This was a how to on moly coating your own bullets at home that I shot a couple of years ago. I'll most likely do an updated version this summer.

    No "respirator mask"?

You're degreasing with alcohol, then immediately putting oils back on the bullets by handling them with bare hands...

@@EditsByCHBZ Do you actually not understand where the oils on your hands come from?

Where did you get the blue tumblar with the closed lid for the lyman 1200 mate?

G Dog I think this is an old one that Midway USA used to sell. Lyman does sell an accessory bowl that has a solid top. Another method that you can do is take a small plastic bottle or say a used Hodgdon 1lb powder bottle. I have been doing that with boron nitride and it works well and you don’t have to get a 2nd bowel.

@@flintridgeoutdoors2582 mate, do you find it affects velocity at all?

G Dog yes for sure. I’d start with a super clean barrel and then work into your loads just like new load development. Since the moly is being lapped into your barrel it becomes really slick. So it ends up reducing pressure. You will notice that you might start shooting 1-3 grains above your old previous max. So this is where you gain the velocity. I also suggest keeping a handful of lighter loads so you can lap again after cleaning. With moly I wouldn’t clean near as often. I’d take a nylon brush and run down the bore. You will see a little puff of black and then after a few more strokes it would be pretty good. I might deep clean every few hundred rounds.
