I think her demeanor is more similar to Europeans than to other Chinese tennis players. I see a bit of Soderling, Sharapova, and maybe even Gulbis in her frank views of defensive style players. This is not a criticism of her, as it does make for entertaining rivalries in the future.
It was obvious it was a very tiring game and in the last deciding set, she was exhausted and her shots fell short. Coco also said she was tired too but I believe was still able to play well. Basically both were about the same standard of play seeing how it was swinging both ways. It is an achievement itself to be in the final .. and there will always be future WTA finals. Bless you and good luck.
As an ultra-competitive individual, it must feel worse to finish second than just get eliminated 1st round. Zheng belongs in the top 5 for the next decade. She will either come back stronger in terms of her offense, or get smarter and become a more rounded player. Either way, GM awaits her in 2025! God Speed!
This was a 2.3 million dollar loss on basically one point margin. Would you be mad? She was also the better player overall when you see the total score.
After watching this Q&A, I think Qinwen will learn from her experience in this WTA Finals and become a better player. I wish she had given Coco a little more credit for toughing out a very competitive match.
I don’t think she meant anything disrespectful, questions were towards her and she was very analytical and honest, she said in her Chinese part of the interview that she doesn’t like to be commented on her improvement by other players ,but , she also thinks the winner has the right to comment on how well the other player did. I think it’s how her mind works.
Actually it's good match and very positive lost because she can see her level now and how close or even better someway than her opponents through this wta final. Her stroke, return, movement, speed including her weapon serve all improved a lot, maybe is good for her to learn more lesson, step by step to get there and give her more motivation to work more harder.....
Congrats to Coco. She is too tough to beat. And this is the most wonderful, intense, and unpredictable game I've seen in 2024. On the other hand, through this year especially the WTA Finals 2024, Zheng has already shown she's world #1 material in my eyes. The only difference between her and the next year's top 4 players, i.e. Sabalenka, Świątek, Coco and Rybakina, is her lack of Grand Slam experience. Besides, There is always room for improvement in the mental game at this level, even though she is handling it very well already. And Watch out for her over the next two years!
All these bias western so-called reporters asking with all kind of stupid questions, how was she "struggle" or lack of fitness to a match that lost to a tie breaker? Zheng made a lot of unforced errors, that's the reason she lost & she also stated that @1:09
@@tomli2964 she will never bet coco, she lost to her 3 times, 2 came from behind to win. her mental weakness is the key. since junior, when gauff 14 q zheng 16 years old, gauff was a break down in third set she won 3 continues games and won the orange bowl. same issue here in the wta final. gauff took that what happend in past 6 years to win wta final, gauff know she can bet her as she done it b4.
If you understand the Asia ppl culture.she has been very professional and straight forward in her replies. I like her attitude.

They both made a lot of unforced errors in the match.
But I guess Guaff’s fitness made some difference.

I think she got asked better questions than Coco.. (Jamaican here)
As she stated, she was not patient enough in this close game.
Do you know she has to show the Rolex as part of the sponsorship deal?
