Sick of the hype. Stop blaming Magnussen, and look at the Matilda's world ranking prior to the Olympics. Sorry all you Tillies fans, but the team is not that good. The game against the Germans underlined the gulf in class between the top sides and the Matildas. The final scoreline against the USA was flattering; they were way better and should have scored at least two more goals. Time for a reality check.
They were never as good as the press made out. Kind of reminds me of the womens rugby as well. Building the girls egos by telling them they are way better than they really are. Then when the fall comes they just don't see why and don't handle it at all well looking to lay the blame elsewhere.
Remember these players speared their last coach with secret complaints about him being too tough on them, so no surprise Gustavsson was more hands off so as not to get smeared and speared by these same complaining players. Well the other teams were drilled with tougher coaching and with Sam Kerr injured were found to be much less skilled than their opposition, the Matildas were defending the majority of the time and that does not score goals.
They were over hyped by the media and turned into idols . Australia does this in particular with its sporting figures No real shock when the realisation sets in that they are just bog ordinary🤷♀️
This team was built by Hype played out by the media and these women started to believe they were something they weren’t. Australian sides when they play they are always in the group of death 🥴 and when they lose every ex player piles on the coach taking the pressure of the players. The truth is they were just an average team.
The Matildas were very strong against the USA. I'm an American but I was proud of the efforts by both teams and I was sad that the match ended because it was so fun to watch. I can't wait to see more matches like this. #Matildas #TeamUSA
I hope you are a friend or family of one of the players, because it is too depressing to imagine anyone having so little regard for their time that they would watch women's football. It is a game anchored in speed and strength, neither of which are on show in women's football. There's plenty of legitimate female athletes around the world that are worth watching, but these so-called footballers are not among them.

Matildas.... Problem was NOT the coach. It was the players. They believed their own delusional media. Over inflated egos. Players just did not have the skill, fitness, knowledge, experience or genuine ability to be the best in the world. Media had the team winning Olympic Gold. Half the team need to retire. The whole support team needs to go. $$$MILLIONS HAS BEEN SPENT ON THIS TEAM OVER 4 YEARS.... Australian Tax payers have put $Millions into Football across Australia - particularly womens football. There MUST be accountability.
The system they used was terrible... if you cant put more than 5 passes together to build up play and move the other team around, that is a problem. Players not marking or shutting someone down that is literally 5m away is a joke.
Totally agree with the lack of closing down players. It never ceased to amaze me how much space opposition players were given. They played safe football for the sake of possession. Under no pressure it was back across back across. It made me sick!
Never leave the coaching to a European national especially when the competition is in Europe itself! Feel bad for the Tillies but at the end of the day Aussie Football is still behind than the rest of the big teams in other parts.

Jen, when will you admit the most basic of problems for this team that they are overpromoted, idolised, pampered and pandered to, relative to their ranking and place in the sport? All sports at world level are intensely competitive and the Matilda’s play too many easy beat teams and are lauded when they win. The team suffers from complacency on more than one level and the problem here is the players. Ok, the coach may not have been perfect but when will the players accept they are servants, not masters. So, they pick the coach? Too many pandered, immature brats in that team, including Kerr.
That's an insult to the rowers. They are genuine athletes facing even better athletes. The footballers are pretend sportswomen coming up against the same.
They went further than the 'Superstars' of Cricket, League, AFL and Netball. No chance of failure in those sports because hardly anyone except a few commonwealth countries care.

The players dumped Allen Stajic (the last coach) and Tony G (the new coach). Allen went on the coaching wonderfully as will Tony G…
