I purchased a replacement laptop keyboard for my Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5102 and just came across your video. I am impressed by your expertise and comprehensiveness of this video! Thanks! Please let me know if this video applies to the above. I only intend to replace the keyboard.
Hey will keyboard replacement work the same way on a C55-C5240? I also can't find the proper keyboard for this model of laptop, so I'm thinking of using one for a C55-A. I have a suspicion this will not work due to the fact that there is metal in between the keys.
my laptop configuration sucks. there is a bolt on one corner that makes it impossible to take the plastic back casing off then there is the cable management ... all the connectors are assembled on the other side of the mother board which means i have to pretty much completely disassemble it just to figure out where the cables are coming from and remove them completely. i am way over my head here ... i've replaced keyboards before and they have been relatively easy but it's like they designed mine specifically to make it a pain in the ass to repair. c55d-b5214
Alguna idea.
I have a Toshiba C55D-B5319. I have successfully taken off the keyboard. I have also disengaged the keyboard ribbon from the motherboard by raising the lock. Problem. The ribbon for the keyboard will not release through the slot from the loose end. The ribbon is flopping around in the breeze nice and free, but no matter how hard I yank, it will not feed through the motherboard to release the keyboard. There does not appear to be any other locks. Since the original keyboard was malfunctioning I cut the ribbon to free the original keyboard. Now i have a nub of ribbon sticking out...still stuck and immovable. I bought a wireless keyboard that more-or-less fits in the space of the original keyboard. I stopped short of taking vice grips and REALLY yanking the ribbon, fearing that I would damage the mother board. Any ideas on how to release the ribbon...again, the ribbon is basically flopping in the breeze now on both sides of the mother board.
I have already changed my ram from 4gb to 8gb in this Toshiba series. Now iam wondering if it is possible to upgrade APU/CPU on these laptops. I wanted to upgrade to AMD A10. Is it possible??
did you ever get this done? i have a c55-c and i need to backlit the keyboard or i'm just going to buy another backlit keyboard and connect it to my laptop.
Freaking annoying having to thread the cable through that slot I have to say.. Plus the tape etc.. I found it easier to remove the motherboard. A good video though thanks.
Har Har it is because ether he doesn’t want to get finger prints or ruin the visual appeal of the laptop or most likely if something were to go wrong or some of the metal was point and scratched him he would not get hurt But thoughts are just my guesses
Best repair video I've ever seen. THANK YOU for recording it in silence.

Once you take the keyboard out is there any way you can clean it and not have to replace?
try removing the keys with a flat head screwdriver. that way you can clean out the dirt
SuperNinja66 Thanks man worked
no problem! but be careful you dont break the plastic under the keys, because in that case they might not go back on

Hi
Why do you wear gloves when working on the laptop?
Har Har it is because ether he doesn’t want to get finger prints or ruin the visual appeal of the laptop or most likely if something were to go wrong or some of the metal was point and scratched him he would not get hurt
But thoughts are just my guesses
