Glad you’re getting good use out of the helmet Steve. That machine seems like the goods. It’s a bugger that I have four machines when with that simder I would only need the one. Story of my life really.

Hi Mark, yes mate I certainly am. It’s the only speed glass one I have so I use it whenever I’m welding. I was very impressed with the machine, but if you already have others it’s not a bad thing either mate

Hey up Steve thanks for your video nice honest review, funny that the stand was for a red motor as my thumb's up was number 202

Hi John my pleasure mate. I’m always honest. Yes certainly is for a red, but a 173, still a coincidence though mate

    G'day Steve,
The run- down on the Welder came across a treat , especially for any potential buyers .
It sounded smooth from the first arc , and performed quite well in your demonstration,
with all the different features & settings it comes across as a capable little unit. And a 30% discount too ,
    i imaging they'll sell a few .
    Nice job.
    Respect....!

STEVE you should run the tip size that suits the wire diameter, as the wire runs thru the tip it gradually wears the tip and then the I.D. Gets bigger, this leads quite quickly to poor contact between the tip and the wire this loss of electrical conductivity causes welding problems.
When in high amps its not that much of a problem but with thin metal say body panels its a big problem, you will experience a stop start welding process where the wire feeds but because of the loss of conductivity you have no arc and the wire pushes the handpiece away from the metal.
    I hold a Commonwealth certificate in Mig/Pipe.
I also suggest people use a ear plug the foam squeeze type and you push the wire thru the plug before the wire goes into the feed rollers.
This keeps the wire clean going thru the rollers and thus the liner also.
I also recommend 100% getting hold of some beeswax and after the shroud has gotten hot you push the shroud into the wax and let it melt the wax and thus coat both inside and outside of the shroud and the tip.
Over decades of welding I’ve found this the best , it lasts way longer than any other paste or spray.
Get an old tin can and put the beeswax in that.

Hi mate. I do on gas wire but this gasless stuff seems to bind up in the tip when it heats up. Thanks for the advice

Hi Steve, It looks like it would be a useful little welder. I haven't seen sataincraft rods for years, the were easy rods to use and made you look better than you were. My engineering supply shop told me not to deal to the 15 amp plug as it voided the warranty. I brought a proper 15amp extension lead witch now fits 10amp plugs. .

    • @stevesplacedownunder
      @stevesplacedownunder  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Hi mate. They are great rods to use. Yes they do void warranty if the plug is tampered with indeed. I have an adapter here somewhere but they still seem to receive the treatment 🤣🤣.
