      Thank you for this lesson, But if you make the right and left menu panel a little bigger, that would make this perfect. The letters are too small and hard to follow. Photo itself does not need to be big. When you make next time like this, keep this in mind.

    I love this lesson. I absolutely love that he explains his own feelings on the image. why he's doing it and not just, I'm doing this. I'm doing that. he's actually giving me the insight into what he sees in the image even before the editing. it really helps to keep me inspired to learn more about photography

    I have resisted making use of Lightroom and similar tools for all but the most basic adjustments reasoning that if I couldn't get it pretty close to "right" in camera, then I didn't deserve the shot. To do otherwise was cheating myself (I could be lazy) and reality (artificially create the moment rather than capture it). Clifford's workshop didn't just shift my perception of post-processing editing, it opened my eyes about how to get where I wanted to go artistically without sacrificing the underlying integrity of my photography. It made me realize how foolish I have been in not using available tools to reasonable advantage. The most important aspect of this workshop is that he links edits to an underlying vision - this isn't about making an image technically correct, it's about using tools to express yourself. Well done and much appreciated.

    I just know this is without doubt the best instructional video, on just about anything, I’ve ever watched on YT. The, “cut to the chase”, the making others think of the answers, questioning me on how to do…,the reasonings’ in your opinion, you provide, is simply teaching at its very best.

  • @EnginMan234

    Clifford taught like a pro. I knew LR could do all of this but the simple tricks using alt and crtl were more valuable than anything else. It will definitely help my edits look more real and speed things up as well.

    Excellent video tutorial on Lightroom! I'm really pleased to see Clifford doing some of the same things I've been doing on my own prior to seeing this video. I've grown accustomed to using the "Dehaze" slider for adjusting skies. Most other Lightroom instructors hardly ever use the dehaze slider. I'm not sure why. But this is a great video because I learned a number of new things I didn't know before! Thanks Clifford! I am also one that likes saturated colors. Maybe because when I was young all we had was black and white tv.... LOL!

Its a powerfull tool but underestimeted in all other tutorials and courses. I am delighted that I found this tutorial! Great, great tutorial. To my knowledge, the stock Camera app that comes with the Apple iPhone does not capture RAW images. However, you can obtain apps from the App Store that do have RAW capabilities and will store RAW images taken with your iPhone. While there are various options, four (4) options that I would recommend at varying price points would be either *VSCO* _(free),_ *Halide Camera* _($5.99),_ *ProCam 7* _($5.99),_ and *FiLMiC Firstlight* _($7.99)._

    I am curious if it is worth using Lightroom instead of After Effects if I am not batch editing photos. I can't tell if Lightroom has as many features as AE. As far as I can tell After Effects has the ability to achieve a greater degree of control but it lacks the ease of navigation and automatic settings.
    I would appreciate any input since I can't find much comparing the two.

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lightroom Classic is the desktop-focused version of this well-rounded image editing and management application
      After Effects lets you apply cinematic visual effects to your productions.
      As with most other video-compositing software, After Effects is resolution independent, meaning animators and visual effects artists can define the resolution of their workspace down to a single pixel. Even more, After Effects offers sub-pixel accuracy resolution, which is more precise than even that single pixel. This level of precision is important when compositing convincing visual effects into live-action video, or moving text smoothly across the screen.
      You use AE to fix, improve or change a shot you cannot fix, improve or change in an NLE. You do not cut or edit in AE except for the occasional short sequence. Any compositing or visual effects you have seen in any movie or commercial can be accomplished inside AE with the use of AE's standard set of effects and the appropriate 3rd party effects or scripts packages. >Mark

    On 1:21:50 he talks about an over overlay.... How does he show the overlay of the radial filter when he clicks on the adjustment brush? I can see my overlay of the radial filter, but as soon as I click on the adjustment brush, the overlay disappears.... Thanks!

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you press the keyboard letter shortcut "O" (that is the letter "O", not the number zero), it should display the overlay showing the area affected by the filter. If you press SHIFT+O, the color of the overlay will change.

    • @stineldo
      @stineldo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BandH I will try again, but I think when the adjustment brush is active and you press O, it shows the edits made with the brush... On the screen it seems all overlays are showing (the one of the radial filter WHILE the adjustment brush is active).... If I just click on O, I only see the adjustment brush overlays, not the ones of the radial filter anymore

    The theory is good, but the unedited versions are generally better. This just shows how hard it is to actually beat apple/insta/lightroom and so on filters and presets. Engineers know what people want to arrive at and when editing from scratch it's easy to mess up.

    Just watching this now and I have to say that the DOF edit you made was horrible, this would be much better if you used a mask in PS and made a more realistic front to back gradient for lens blur that more realistically kept the field of focus. Parts of the image withing the field of view that should have remained sharp were unrealistically blurred by the adjustments you made with the tools you used. I do appreciate the value of the tools available in Light Room and what you are sharing is still quite valuable. Especially for adjustments of highlights and shadows and your advise on capturing as much information in the initial file as possible.

    So I've been doing this for years. Watching b&h videos and others learning from the best photographers around the world developing my skills independently and then I join this photography company and they tell me that this is not photography. That I have no skills and developing digital photos in digital dark rooms is not photography and I am narrow minded and should learn from other photographers after I just beat all of them in a blind photography competition. I can't even believe this is happening. Spit on for being creative. Saying I embarrassed myself for pretending I know anything and disagreeing with the manager who says photography can only be one thing from one person's opinion. I'm absolutely shocked that people like this exist.
