    May I say, this is, (apparently), a non-professional videographer, BUT!!!, whoever it is does a better job of getting the action and the end results than the professionals that seem to be obsessed with burnouts and not showing the time and speed for each run. VERY good!!

      I'm guilty of flinching the first time I was around one of them while they were testing. When they hit that throttle I thought it was the end of the world! I might as well have watch 20 sticks of dynamite blow up in front of my face

    Lived and worked ten minutes from Thunder Valley for four years. Enjoyed Bristol and the track but if you ever get to go to the Thunder Valley Nationals (Drag Racing), it's an experience of a lifetime. When those funny cars launch off the line, it will almost make you sick from the force of it. Everyone should go see that at least once...it's amazing!

    Very good, including the sound of the FCs. Thunder Valley must really be a track to experience nitro.
    Each track has its own audio traits. SIR has the forest that echos the nitro cars. At OCIR, the sound echoed from the tower and possibly the fence separating the entry road from the walkway to the pits.

    Love the concusion when they burp the throttle. Only thing is everytime they run these monsters someone is always standing nearby with no ear protection. Man that has to be painful.

      Iggy Fritz when I had my Baptism by Nitro at the 2018 Virginia Nationals, I went out any hearing protection for just that one run and it felt like someone took a full overhead swing at each of my ear drums with a 20 pound sledgehammer.

    Which drivers were whacking the throttle?

    • @theaccelerator4908
      @theaccelerator4908  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Karlo Zelencic Scott Palmer, Dom Lagana, Lex Joon and Audrey worm. Normally your more low budget teams will do throttle whacks. If you see any crew members out and about just ask if they do it. Audrey Worm does 2 throttle whacks.

    The National Hot Rod Association, the largest auto racing organization in the world, has come a long way since Wally Parks founded it in 1951.
    Though it has grown into a global sports-entertainment business, NHRA has not lost sight of Parks’ original goal: to provide competitors a place to race. But now those places are deluxe supertracks in major U.S. markets, and the racing runs the gamut from 10,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragsters to five-horsepower Jr. Dragsters. Drag racing’s journey through the decades has been sometimes swift, sometimes rocky, but always exciting and always worth the trip.

    • @theaccelerator4908
      @theaccelerator4908  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      sofalugger It’s actually the 1000ft mark right in between the 1/8th and 1/4th. So it’s a little bit farther than the 1/8th.

    • @austinhord8317

      Not enough stopping distance at tracks. Scott Kallita's fatal crash is what brought upon the 1000ft drag.

      @austinhord8317 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A decade ago, yes. But now all the tuner and clutch assistant have to do is reach down ans take a ratchet and set the clutch to engage it now. Reasons why you don't see throttle wacks as often any more. Its mostly done as a crowd pleaser now.

      It's to seat the clutch. The best way to seat the clutch.

    • @darrenstephens7376
      @darrenstephens7376 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why have many of the top teams stopped whacking the throttle the past few years? The fans LOVE IT!

    • @michaelfritsche4023
      @michaelfritsche4023 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whacking was a way of Seating the clutch. That's been replaced by better machining and clutch pack prep.
      To many variables introduced during the whack.

    • @darrenstephens7376
      @darrenstephens7376 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Fritsche but some teams still do it...so they must not have the better clutches?

    • @michaelfritsche4023
      @michaelfritsche4023 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@darrenstephens7376 a few still do it yes. It puts an unknown amount of heat in the clutch, changes the "Air Gap" We set ours up with 0.080 gap in the clutch pack when we serviced the car. That's enough to idle with the brake on ( rear only for Top Fuel) and not creep. Also if Idle is high ie: over 2500 it won't go in reverse after burnout. Reason is clutch is dragging on the motor.
      Those are probably the two top reasons.
