This was one of my Dads favorite songs. I can remembering trying to sing as good as possible for him as a kid!!! He passed two years ago. This song brought back so many memories.
Love Alabama, God bless them. Yes, this reminds me of my younger days in church when church was so different than today....I only wish I could sing it to my grandchildren...that's changed as well today. Grandparents just aren't revered today like when I was a child. I loved my grandparents so much and got to spend time with them each summer....Oh well, I lose...it's a different world we live in today! Jesus come quickly!!!
I'M 82 YEARS OLD. AS AN EIGHT YEAR OLD, I REMEMBER HELPING MY GRANDPA WALK HIS MILK COWS ALONG THE COBB SWITCH TEXAS ROADSIDE WHILE THEY ATE THE TALL GRASS. MY JOB WAS TO WALK BETWEEN THEM AND THE HIGHWAY AND GUIDE THEM WITH A LONG CANE FISHING POLE. WE WALKED WITH THEM TO LITTLE CHURCH WHILE THEY SLOWLY ATE THE JOHNSON GRASS. WHEN WE REACHED THE CHURCH, GRANDPA LET ME GO INSIDE AND PLAY THE PIANO. IT TOOK ALL DAY. THIS SONG REMINDS ME OF THOSE DAYS DURING WWII.
My mother played the guitar and she used to sing this to me as a child, first time I have heard this in years! Thank you God for this! Many memories, lost Mom 23 years ago!
Absolutely beautiful..... loved this ... love Alabama. This song always reminds me of church, childhood and growing up and the way churches used to be and wish they still were.......
I was born in 1928. When I was a teenager my dad would give me driving lessons and let me drive the car to church. While we were driving we would sing this song together. This is one of my sweetest memories.
Funny, I am 69 and I grew up going to a little blue church a couple of blocks from where I lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We sang this song all time during VBS. It was our favorite hymn. Boy would I love to go back for one day of VBS to that church.
Randy and rest of the guys are totally awesome, they always have been awesome and they are the same at gospel music. Very nice job guys, keep it up as long as you can :)
There's a church in the valley by the wildwood No lovelier place in the dale No spot is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the vale Come to the church by the wildwood Oh, come to the church in the dale No spot is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the dale How sweet on a clear Sabbath morning To listen to the clear ringin' bells It's tones so sweetly are callin' Oh, come to the church in the vale Come to the church by the wildwood Oh, come to the church in the vale No spot is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the dale There close by the side of that loved one 'Neath the tree where the wild flowers bloom When farewell him shall be chanted I shall rest by her side in the tomb Come to the church by the wildwood Oh, come to the church in the vale No spot is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the dale As the little brown church in the dale Everybody Oh come to the church by the wildwood Oh, come to the church in the vale No spot is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the dale Oh come come (come come) to the church by the wildwood Oh come to the church in the dale No spot is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the dale Come come (come come) to the church by the wildwood Oh come (come come) to the church in the dale No spot is so dear to my childhood As the little brown church in the dale
Alabama was playing in Lake Jackson Texas back in the early 1970's. Because we had never heard of them we did not go and went someplace else.. We heard of them more in the months following, Never have turned down a chance to see a new group since.
Just sent this to Facebook. A bit of a break from the upheaval of world affairs. A brief walk along the path of memories leading past everybody's own personal Church In The Wildwood. Might help. Won't hurt.
"Alabama: Angels Among Us" is playing on the Gaither channel (currently 276 on Dish-check local listings) which this performance is from. I've watched it several times! Family members in the audience. GREAT gospel music. It's a must see for 'Bama fans!
Am I really the first one to mention Bill Gaither here ? By the way, never realized he sang bass ! Really does a great job here ! Love his sense of humor, too !!
That was funny! "You've gotta shoot your shot!" as they say. Seemed like his mic was too quiet, still could hardly hear him, but good. Such a simple sweet song.
Everyone leaves out the verse now that says "There close by the church in the wildwood lies one that i love so well". Does anyone know where i can find a version that does not?
The episode that Andy sang this in was called Man In A Hurry. Andy and Barney harmonized perfectly in that number. One of the greatest scenes in television.
Let's conjecture: Who is or who are the executioners behind all this confusion that is trying to make us think it's the end of the world? History and the Bible must always serve as a source of reference, to facilitate and even bring a solution to issues that involve human beings causing inconvenience. Usually behind confusions there are nations, peoples, people, trying to, or exert dominion over other peoples, people, etc., or nations and peoples in "Frank" "German" decline, trying to reverse their situation, using for this, all kinds of low blows, even bacteriological, viral, chemical warfare. Two heads are better than one......
I just think these American songs are fantastic. I'm a big fan.

Oh how I wish I could be with my mum and dad even just a brief moment, in their loving warm embrace when life was easy.
I will always miss my parents! I love them so much!
You made me cry 😢
Me too. Time goes by way too fast.
Yeah, a lot of miss our parents! I try to be in my daughter and Granddaughter's life through music!
Me too
Just wondering? How many churches still ring the church bell calling folks to the word of our Savior?

There's a church in the valley by the wildwood
No lovelier place in the dale
No spot is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the vale
Come to the church by the wildwood
Oh, come to the church in the dale
No spot is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the dale
How sweet on a clear Sabbath morning
To listen to the clear ringin' bells
It's tones so sweetly are callin'
Oh, come to the church in the vale
Come to the church by the wildwood
Oh, come to the church in the vale
No spot is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the dale
There close by the side of that loved one
'Neath the tree where the wild flowers bloom
When farewell him shall be chanted
I shall rest by her side in the tomb
Come to the church by the wildwood
Oh, come to the church in the vale
No spot is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the dale
As the little brown church in the dale
Everybody
Oh come to the church by the wildwood
Oh, come to the church in the vale
No spot is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the dale
Oh come come (come come) to the church by the wildwood
Oh come to the church in the dale
No spot is so dear to my childhood
As the little brown church in the dale
Come come (come come) to the church by the wildwood
Oh come (come come) to the church in the dale
No spot is so dear to my childhood

God can hear your prayers at home, you can pray anywhere and God will hear you!
Thank you, Rhonda, I think you are right.
That’s what’s awesome about praying our worship, it can be anywhere, as long as you treat that place with respect, I’m praying for you

🤠👯♂️🙈🙉🙊🌻
He looks like Dave Ramsey with long hair
I think this would have been better as acapella. I feel the music is too upbeat for the feeling of the singer.
Don't ever go to their museum in Ft. Payne. There's an older lady that works there and she is so NASTY!!!
Try being super nice!
Maybe she didn't feel good or was having a bad day! No one feels good all the time!
Ahh! Just sweet talk her! Love is sweeter than hate!
andy griffith brought me here.
