Nope, it doesn't cover negative emulation which is the most important feature of them, grain, halation and softness in dehancer is still better than resolves grain as well other features

That will certainly make people who are used to lumetri color in premiere not have to learn the color panel and quite sick that you can just add it into the edit page as an effect.
This is the best demonstration of FLC I've seen. I've never really thought of creating LUTs before. But, now I think I can have a bit of fun doing so. Many thanks.
Yes it opens up the perspective, the tool is not perfect but these tools in one place can speed ho the grading/look building process for sure!

Great video. Where in a node tree would you put this node, and at what stage of grading would you use it?
For sure somewhere at the end of the node tree and if you are using cst workflow - before the conversion to Rec.709. I would be quite selective with these tools and use some of them only to tweak the look. You can also use it to create another version of the grade.

Great tutorial Kasia! I love this new feature, except I find the film grain to be a little too grainy? Even though you can adjust it down, it still looks a little off to me. Other than that, this is a BIG help to get things done FAST!
Well it’s an auto tool so it’s not perfect! I would be quite selective with it!

I feel like the FCL casts a stronger green hue onto my footage then everything I see on TH-cam? Am I missing something or doing something incorrect? Colour grading novice here.

You can save any node tree as a power grade.
Also you can export it as a LUT

Is it interesting toi use Kodak or Fuji Negative Film Look in Davinci with the Film Look Plug in ?
Indeed, it would be nice to see the combination of the new Film Look Tool, with the film look LUTs that have been in Resolve for a while now. Do these tools compliment each other, and enhance the film look even further???
Regarding the Resolve film look LUTs:
If I remember correctly, you have to use a colour space transform to match your colour space to Cine Log or something like that, because that's the colour space of the Resolve film look LUTs (?).
Are there negative film luts in Resolve now? I just know the Kodak and Fuji luts in Resolve are for print film emulation.
What is the difference between dropping onto a node (create node drag onto it) and dragging the node onto the node tree directly from the effects ? Thank you. Appreciate the channel.
There’s literally no difference! Have a look at my course as well, it gives a lot of insights you can’t find on TH-cam!

I tried the new Film Look Creator on some footage. I think it looks rather muddy and it's tricky to get clean vibrant colors. I much prefer the results with Cineon/ADX10 and Davinci film LUTs. The workflow of the Film Look Creator is quite nice though. Thanks for sharing this overview.
Yes of course, we can be selective with any tool and develop our own workflow :)
@@colorgradinginsights after playing a bit more with the FLC I can get some nice results when used as film negative treatment. I might actually incorporate it into my grading workflow :)

can someone help me out... I own a license for Davince Resolve Studio, but it is the Mac OS app version.. When I try to run the new beta version of studio after installing it, it says I need to activate it. And I see no way in the preferences of 18.6 Studio to deactivate it. Has anyone else had this issue. Thanks for any help
Under the Help menu, there is a Deactivate License choice.
As I understand, you are allowed to run Studio on two separate machines. Activating a new license automagically deactivates one of the existing ones. I would ask on the Black Magic forums if you need more help.

Possibly dumb question: can you still use a LUT and then add this node after or would that be overkill?
My opinion is that It all depends on what you want to achieve - experiment as much as you like 👍
Wouldn’t it be better to wait to download v.19 until 19.1 to ensure issues with the new version are addressed?
Or wait til 19.5? Gotta start somewhere, no doubt 19.1 won’t be perfect either.

It doesn't compare, Filmbox has really precise color science in film emulation, better negative emulation, better pfe emulation, better grain and halation. But of course the price is absurd
Thank god I didn't buy the overly expensive Dehancer plugin
In fairness to Dehancer, they have print stock and film emulations and quite a lot more versatility than what you can do in Resolve. I think BMD have done a good job but I wouldn’t say it’s a match.
ok, Dehancer still has some superior aspects (not a lot) but this new Davinci is now preventing me to sell my apartment in order to buy (and mantain) Dehancer.

Film look is nice but different to dehancer, Film convert and look designer… it doesńt emulate film stocks or film prints.. it works different… and i dońt think lut creators will be out of business.. there will always be people that prefer to copy and paste instead of enjoying the joy of creating something from scratch…

Doesn't look like film at all really. Looks very sterile compared to Dehancer.
