Thanks for sharing, great work! I'm a bit concerned over hypermobility of the iseland. Once in position you probably want that big piece of furniture fixed so you could lean on it and so that visitor's kid wouldn't run it playing into something or someone. Wheels with breaks will help a bit but I wonder if floor mounted rails are needed to have full control/safety.

Hi. Thanks for this awesome video! I'm thinking about attempting something similar. At 1:47 (after attaching casters to the base) you attach what looks like metal L-shaped strips to the wood base. What is that and why did you attach these? Also what type of wood have you used for the base (material and thickness will be great!) Thanks in advance and please keeping making and posting such projects! 🤩 Love watching them.
These metal L-shaped strips are to strengthen the cabinets so they don't bend on the bottom and when you move the island around it helps the drawers stay intact.

Is the counter top a stone? We are on the process of kitchen remodel and I was told that having an islnd on wheels is a hazard, and I really need a moveable island since our kitchen is very tight
I really enjoyed your video, thank you for making and posting. It’s been a great help as I start to think of making my own. I had been wondering what the two long metal pieces were initially, but now I’m thinking you used this as some sort of reinforcement or stabiliser: would that be right?
Great job! We’re going to do something similar. What did you do to ensure that the island won’t tip over if you open one or two drawers? That’s our biggest worry, especially when the drawers are quite full. Thanks!
Great job!...Just one question. I was wondering why you didn't do the same depth all the way across instead of using the cabinets that weren't the same depth as the ones on the ends...
Looks amazing! Is that a real marble top? If so how did you secure it to the table and where did you get it cut to size? Thanks for sharing this video.
Looks amazing! How much higher off the ground was the island lifted? I want to make sure that what i build is counter height (36"). I'm assuming your cabinets are base cabinets (standard 36" high)? Are the wheels and plank lifted it at least 3 - 4" higher? Did anyone catch that on the video? Please advise...What wheels did you use and how high are they? Also, how thick was the wood plank the wheels you attached them to? Thanks again!
Hi bought a ikea island for my crafts. Old and stupid old woman. Do you have any idea please how to lock the wheels. Don't want unit to move. There's a grey lever on each wheel. But I can't budge it either up or down to lock wheels. Help would be much appreciated please. Thank you
Great work! Thanks for sharing this. I was wondering if the two metal pieces you used as reinforcement would be necessary if you had not cut the plywood. The ikea cabinets, in my case, all have the same depth (60 cm), so I am planning to use a rectangular plywood (15mm/0.6 inch thick, and 1.6 meters/ 5'3 long) to connect 8 wheels. Do you think I need similar metal reinforcements? Thanks
Thanks! I set the metals there to reinforce the cabinet, because if they bend in the middle then the drawers will shift and will be uneven. If your floors are even then you should be ok without metal reinforcement, but if your floors are uneven then yes, I recommend that you do the same as I did.
@MaxPlus Thanks for the answer, I am currently doing mine as we speak and I bought the wrong Wheels, so back to the store I go😑 the first ones were rubber, did not like how they didn't move well. I like yours better. Thanks for posting this☺️

Hi! Thank you for sharing this video! It was really informative and interesting to watch :) it also showed me all the things I may have done wrong with my kitchen island I made recently... I had quartz countertops installed and didn't know I needed to top the cabinets with plywood. What is the reason for doing this? Is this something I need to correct in the future? The island has been shifting side-to-side whenever someone leans on it but I thought it was because it does not yet have paneling on the three sides. Could the lack of plywood under the countertops be the reason why? Thanks for reading all my questions :) even if you don't get the chance to answer them, I still really appreciate you posting this video! I look forward to watching some of your others!
So that corner rail on the bottom is just to stiffen the plywood between wheels? Is there a minimum distance between wheels less than which you wouldn't need to do that? Does using it mean you don't have to use as many wheels? Thanks.
The purpose behind the rails is to make sure that the cabinets wont bend downwards, and the amount and location of wheels is to assure the stability of the island.

What is the metal tracks for where the wheels are? Is this in place of wood reinforcement?

Plywood is necessary for extra support, and usually plywood is put under quartz counters.
What instruments you used, it looks like lot of desalt stuff
yes, all of my tools are Dewalt :)

@@maxplus2849 but another wheel would work too, right?
Yes, it should work if your floors are leveled.

Doesn't the base in the middle portion need more support? Asking for me. 😆
You can do with extra support
Do you have a total materials cost for this project, or at least an estimate?
I was putting it together for a customer, so I am not really sure what they paid.
At 7:08, you go through the effort of adding a plywood top. Why?
Because the counter is quartz and for quarts you need to have the plywood. (for granite counters you dont)
At 4:03, what is the measurement that you wanted?
I was measuring the door extension (every door is different) - in this case it was 3/4+
I ask out of complete ignorance, don't those metal wheels mark the wooden floor??
At 9:01, you do not pre-drill. Can you please explain why you didn't? Thank you!
In this case the screw goes in easily and it goes right under the drawers so it's not visible.
