@joshschmidt3841 You and me both brother. I hate that man with all my heart, I was 12 when I played this and It made me feel utter defeat and sadness to this day, 25 years and the pain wont go away..
In the context of the story, this song made me feel utterly alone. Chaz only had Alys. She was his world--a mom, big sister and hunting partner combined...then she died. Then Rune & Rika were there to remind him he WASN'T alone, and never would be again.😌
I can’t even find the words to say but my god when I came to this point I was heartbroken, giving the backstory of how Alys fostered Chaz and even during the game she made sure he didn’t get to cocky and checked him it showed that she cared deeply for him. It destroy me even further how later on you would run in to a manifestation of her and would have to fight her it just made things even worse. The Phantasy Star series doesn’t get enough recognition true I mean come on in part one Alis Loses her brother in the beginning, part two the intro it self is sad unless you actually played the first you would understand it. Part 3 was fun I did enjoy it the possibility of that one kinda made me think that maybe Chaz would’ve been on offspring of Crys and Laya or even Adon or Kara cause it would be wrong marrying your twin Gwen, 😅 I suppose Aron and Laya would work too since Aron kinda looks like a green haired version of Chaz. 😅
The phantasy star series was ahead of it's time. It pisses me off when people talk about the greatest games of all time and harp on about Final Fantasy. This series was so under appreciated. PS2 was ahead of it's time and PS4 felt like the perfect continuation of it, we ignore PS3. Sega failed as a company because it has no idea what it's doing. I makes some fantastic games and doesn't understand what made them so great, it's like they made these games out of pure luck or something because it feels like they're donig everything wrong nowadays. So much potential wasted, I think it's because Sega is more interested in marketing to the Japanese market which has different tastes to the west, which is a damn shame. Wake up Sega!
Hey everyone is entitled to a goof we all have a black sheep in the family. PS was one the few serriers that got BETTER with each future instalment do you know how hard that is? (excpet as you said ps3) your words are so well said. It was not software that killed Sega it was hardware. they were literaly a generation ahead of the cycles. but they put out too much too quickly. So sad to see the one company that figrued out how to make good games (and they had ALOT of them) get screwed over by hardware. try Hyper dimensional neptunia on steam if you want the most passive agressive funny ax to grind game about it :).

@CaptainLester if you have a console then buy the Sega genesis collection,if you have a switch you can buy both phantasy star one and the Sega genesis collection for switch,the Sega genesis collection has phantasy star 2,phantasy star 3,and phantasy star 4,it's all relatively cheap

I'm more drawn towards the melancholic pieces, but there's a lot of good up-beat stuff in Phantasy Star. What I can tell you for sure is that I'm in the middle of working on the follow-up track to this (Her Last Breath) as we speak, so that'll be up soon! I'm playing through the game, and inspiration hit me... again and again and again. God I love the music in this game.

Beautiful take. While I don't think this style would fit for the entire OST, it hits perfectly here. And people are right, this series is criminally underlooked - Seen on Megadrive/Genesis compilations now and then and that's about it. While I don't know how much of the (Master System/Megadrive) appeal of the games would stay with a complete remake (I felt the PS2 remakes of the first two games were.... Lackluster because they looked and sounded completely off), I'd love to see the first three games remade to the quality of IV and released as a pack alongside IV.
I’m doing a play through right now and I’m at the part where you have to choose a partner to take with you to fight the profound darkness, who should I pick?
I'm fairly certain I went with Gryz because I love the guy, but that seems to be considered the worst choice for the battle, with Raja being deemed the easiest. I made it without too much trouble, though, but I might have been overleveled. I'd say pick the character you're most attached to and give it a go. Best of luck!

This game broke me in ways my little soul could have never expected, I've beaten this game legitimately over a hundred times and I'm still playing it.
