It is nice to watch a vice documentary that didn't have the word "fuck" 6 times in one sentence, and put the spot light on the actual characters, not a hipster on paid vacation. It reminds me of the documentaries/stories that got me watching vice in the first place. Great work vice, keep more like this coming!
Personally, I'm not into rodeos and don't know much about them. This is how these people make a living. It is in no way cruel. The animals are trained to know how to handle everything from bucking, falling, etc. People who say it's cruel obviously don't know the spiritual connection these riders have with their animals. In all native cultures, animals are sacred. What we use from them is always given back in one way or another. Can't say that about other cultures who take and give nothing in return.
It's funny how they play the pow-wow music in the background, as we Navajo only pow-wow at tribal fairs and inter-tribal gatherings. Traditional Navajo music would be 1 or multiple singers w/ just 1 drummer also not to be confused with NAC/peyote-ism music.
