I am under the impression that true repentance doesnt come without the power of the Holy Spirit. I was not capable of *the desire to do away with sin until i got the desire to do so from God. Which i asked him for, by making mysepf a living sacrifice. Intentionally seeking to glorify the messiah, removing myself . We are saved by grace through faith.
EXCELLENT COMMENT. Amen! You got that impression from Scripture. God alone saves from the granting of repentance to the granting of faith. Salvation is what theologians call monergistic - God alone. We are by nature hostile to God (Rom 8:6-8) and unable to seek him (John 6:44) apart from the enlightenment and enabling of the Holy Spirit. God must do a work in us before we can believe.
Great insight. Repentance does require turning from reliance on the Law for justification to faith in Christ alone for justification. The Law is good, but we already fell under its condemnation.
