Good evening, Joyce. That's exactly how we did it in Jamaica. We either use the ash from our outside cooking or just wet dirt (mud). Our pots remain shiny no matter how old. Another thing Jamaica has in common with 'mother Africa'. We also cut the guard/calabash and make cups or bowls to eat and drink from. 😅❤

I have wanted to try ugari, but It seems to be expensive in the USA. I live in MN and corn is grown here, so it shouldn't be. Maybe it's called something else here. I wonder if anyone knows if I could substitute masa, the corn flour I use to make tortillas, or if there's a source cheaper than 25.00 a bag on Amazon. Joyce and Peter--love your channel! Jimmy is a rock star! It's great that he is able to entertain himself wherever he is. Your outdoor cooking reminds me of my camping trips with my two young sons, years ago. Their job was to gather the wood from the forest for our outdoor stove, where I cooked everything from scratch. The food always smelled and tasted better outdoors. We sang together every night by the campfire before going to sleep in our small tent. They are grown men now, and on their own, but the memories are there for life. By the way, your new outdoor step looks great!
Also, Peter and Joyce after you build your Chicken coop if you still have left over bricks consider possibly building a fire pit which can have many uses including having a grate that fits on top for grilling or cooking outdoors.

Right now, we are getting yellow squash and collard greens as well as cucumbers from our garden. Hopefully, soon, we will have tomatoes, okra, and green beans. I hope Jimmy is feeling better.
Hi family Most green leafy foods eaten in usa Are greens Turnips Kayle Cabbage Collars Spinach Mustards Am pretty almost sure no black nightshade simply because some are poison or Gooseberries but i read there is some black nightshades thats edible not sure here in the states though
