That front tyre will never need replacing. It doesn't touch the ground for most of the time the little Ape is driving!

Me old Ford fiesta my dad bought for me used to do this... had to replace all the doors... then she got stolen and set alight rip Besty. Ran on fumes and loved tuff love.

Why not put skis on it?
Just under the doors, slightly tucked in under the chassis to avoid contact with other drivers rear wheels.
Slight angle, like just halfway down, so when it starts to roll, it will bottom out on the skis sticking down from under the doors, and slide/stop rolling early.
Are skis banned from the sport?
The ones they use for competition do have some protection for the rear wheels in form of a sort of cage or more of a bar surrounding the front and the sides. Preventing it from rolling though, I don't know, it's kind of cute when they go up on 2 wheels like a dog taking a leak. th-cam.com/video/boDL5i8O24c/w-d-xo.html

Yes i agree the lift is awesome, and i want the skis to permit going up to and just over the balancepoint! Imagine sort of a little step under the door. Just like a wheeliebar that only just sticks out to catch you, once you've tipped over. Or in this case, maybe just at the balancepoint. Solid stainless steel ski mounted to serve as a bumper. I also have a thing for bashplates on enduro bikes. I love that sort of light armour suddenly enabling even more wild manouvers
Just a miniature sideskirt rail.
Could even serve as a ladder for dwarves to climb up into it more easily.
@@Lifeisawheelie Ahh, I get the idea not preventing from doing tricks but rolling over completely. It's a good idea. Just extend the frame a little bit towards the sides and weld on a pair of skis. As far as I know this is a fairly new sport, been around only a couple of years. Who knows what developments occur in the future? Maybe it may be the new motorsport dedicated only to dwarves! :D

Original design: usually here in italy ape proto have several defferences.
Usually the engine is centred and you have the exhaust near the seat. No differential and chain transmission with 2 semi axle. In this way the wheel base is a little longer and the weight better distributed, infact if you see an italian race they don't do wheelie.
Don't know if a shorter wheelbase makes the ape andle better or not, i guess no becouse it is still pretty short also with a middle engine.
Dont forget he put a 1000cc engine, not 600cc so im not surprised its popping wheelies
I have to agree totally with your observations on Guy's design choices. By not following what is a well proven design in Ape racing, it's a bit like trying to teach your grandmother how to suck eggs 😀.
I think it's to short and to narrow compared to the Italian ones

He might be restricted to his wheelbase width. Be interesting to see it on tarmac like you say with better tires. Probably need a wheelie bar. 😂🤦🏼♂️
