- I had to do a video on one of my FAVORITE male vocalists. Wanya Morris is the powerhouse lead singer of the legendary group Boyz II Men. When Wanya sings, you feel it. One of his best vocal attributes is his impeccable chest note range in my opinion. He is a great awareness of his voice and expertly knows when to tone it down or turn it up. That's to be expected from a vocal great like Wanya. The rest of the Boyz II Men members are amazing. Enjoy the video!

Wanya understands the emotional beauty behind chordal structure and harmonics - which is why his riffs and runs are so satisfying to listen to. He's not just throwing his voice around without a purpose or just for the sake of riffing like some modern singers do.

@J. Russell I've listen and analyze to a lot of Wanya riff and run, truly amazing, but he rarely use flat 5, flat 9 or 6th. That's okay, but Brian use bigger interval and hit some "exotic note" as we say. Also Brian, he use tension and release wisely. So i prefer Brian on this point of view. But Wanya is powerful. You don't have to agree with me thought.
We were extremely blessed to have witnessed the vocal talents of: Gary Jenkins(Silk), Brian McKnight, Wanya, Stokley, Brian Abrams, KC, Dino, Christopher Williams etc...The list is long. The 90's had the emergence of elite male vocals.

Wanya at 0.57, that is some serious Stevie range. It is rare to hear anyone with that Stevie range, runs & sound. Wanya is easily one of the greatest ever vocalist to grace a mic, period.

I had a big crush on him in the 90s. You can tell that He looooves to SING and he is very good at it. Tank kind of reminds me of him in a weird way like they (both wanya and tank) stand out in both groups. With their riffs and their power of oversinging.

The runs Wanya is doing on this clip, I advise you to go look up a Silk live performance and listen to Lil G's range, runs, power, etc. Its just Sill stayed R&B while Boys II Men crossed over. Lil G can give Wanya any and everything he can handle and more because of his falsetto.
