Maybe that site isn’t in French?

Does Sydney have a the Glebe too?
The neighborhood always referred to as *The* Glebe, if you only say *Glebe* you're referring to the highschool in the neighborhood.

G'Day OJB. We have some t-shirts here that say, 'Saskatchewan, Middle of Nowhere Else I'd Rather Be'. 😁😉

The Experimental farm does get quite smelly because they often spray the fields with old fashioned pig manure in the spring. I grew up about a kilometer away and every spring it was ripe. 😂 They have an ornamental garden there, popular spot for wedding photos... They also have a tropical Arboretum. They do a lot of research into breeding new strains of crops. But there's also a museum component geared toward teaching kids about farming.... There's a lot going on there 😂

I mean, I guess I'm glad you don't consider those prices hyper-inflated, but the benchmark house price jumped over 50% in Ottawa between 2019 and 2024 and salaries did not increase 50% with them. The median household income in Ottawa is half what it should be to afford a mortgage on any of those single-family homes.

That large area of agricultural land is called the Experimental Farm, they do a lot of research on that farm in the middle of the city as it now stands, years ago it was at the edge of Ottawa,

7:01 that 2.5M house is trapped by the Canadian border it looks like. It would have to cross canadian border and re-enter the states on the other side of the lake every time it wanted to leave the area. Thats a hassle not worth 2.5M USD.

That house on Arlington that you were looking at for $998,000, looks pretty okay but I'll tell you something I worked in that neighborhood and.... You may say it's a gritty neighborhood. It's a weird mix of very affluent people and the exact opposite of affluent people.

A lot of the sentiment you mention at the end is built up from resentment. A lot of properties were much cheaper only 5 years ago, the same houses you see for 650K today would've been 300K. If this was a gradual rise over decades then people would've been more prepared for it, but because the values have doubled and tripled in such a short time and mortgage rates are also high a lot of people are feeling shaken up and blind sided.

Oh i know why you wont het Quebec listings. You are blocked because they do not want foreign buyers. Quebec has their own immigration rules. Quebec has special privileges in Canada that other provinces do not when it comes to self governance from what would normally be federally governed. Its all part of the referendum results from their last independence movement.

I wonder if Zillow supports French. Any site that wants people in Quebec to use it needs to support French. Sure people will be looking in English, but no one would list properties or any product that isn't supporting French.
HOA - Home Owners Association. One of the worst inventions ever.
You also kind of have to consider... Ottawa is largely "government jobs" yes it is a city with all the related things... you won't find as much variety of employment. I don't imagine may "start ups" there, not many manufacture jobs, etc. I mean I might be surprised but it isn't "known for" anything but the federal government.

Ottawa has an experimental farm in the centre, owned by the federal government.
