Old mate casually strolls up to the mic looking like a smooth operator and then absolutely belts it out pitch perfect holy heck what a front man what a band what a sing
I worked for the Classical/Educational Division of Alberts from 1976 -1979. My office was on the 5th floor and adjoined the recording studio where Dragon recorded 'April Sun in Cuba.' I was in my late teens. There was a Steinway grand in my office, brought from Boomerang, the Albert Family mansion. Whenever I had a moment free, I would play, even compose at it. One day, I was working on a piece and looked up to see a tall young man standing at my office door listening. He had coloured streaks in his hair and wore a long flowing scarf. I signalled for him to come in. He entered, and sat down on one of the blue leather chairs by the piano. I did not know who he was. He said the music I was working on reminded him of Ravel. We spoke about French classical music. He told me he was recording with his group in the studio, and promised to visit with me again. It was Marc Hunter. At the time, and mostly because my musical interests and work at Alberts centred around classical/educational publications, I had no idea who he was. Neither did he elaborate much on himself. We just spoke as if we were friends and true to his word, whenever he was at Alberts to record, he would always visit with me, and talk about music. I would play for him. If ever we passed in the corridor outside my office, he would bow to me with a flourish and swirl of his scarf. Marc was a gentleman through and through. At one time, I gave to him a small gold crucifix simply to thank him for the times he spent with me. He was a kind and caring soul. And so elegant in how he carried himself. A true stylist. After leaving Alberts in 1979, I never really saw him again. But my memory of him was such that when decades later he died, I cried. I will still shed a tear for him from time to time. He was a good good man! Someone I will never forget.
@@PhillipLWilcher This is surprising! I was casually scrolling through the comments of this video (since this song is very good). And then I see your comment! As a fan of this song and a fan of the Original Wiggles (especially the early music), you're a very lucky guy to have worked closely with people who I love. Also, thank you for your music, I love listening to it.
This is how it's done. All vocal talent, not shouting power vocals, or stupid musical hooks every 30seconds. Just a great vibe, and everyone playing along with it.
@@ZIGSVIDS Hey... My jokes are terrible, these guys are actually decent musicians. Not trying too hard, or writing music by formula, just feeling the groove. I'm glad you didn't laugh at my jokes though, that would be embarrassing.
My first concert Dragon at Melbourne Royal show in the evening 1977 playing their new song April Sun in Cuba. There were several other bands, lm sure the Ferrets also played. Amazing and fun times.
I prefer this to the actual performance, he's just cruising here. Sorely missed. Just brilliant Great Crystal clear footage as if Mark is still with us
Beautiful man. Very special talent. Charisma in truck loads. Lost to us all, way too soon. Thank you for everything you gave us in the short space of time we had you with us.
When I was a kid Marc Hunter was always on Countdown and he came across as a very charismatic person who had great comedic style. He was undoubtedly one of the coolest cats in music during that era. His performance here is just effortless and yet his vocal is crystal clear and strong. A great loss to Australian and New Zealand music and a wonderful talent. Great video of him doing what he did best... A true legend
Mark hunter is sadly missed but was surely one great singer .. l loved dragon and mark hunter when I was a lot younger lm 58 this year wow .. where have the years gone ..
This is pure Excellence - right through! Balanced, Clear, Powerful and Nuanced Vocal; Magnificent energy and expression Musically and absurdly magnificent Backing Harmonies!!!
Another one of those"I don't know why they did not become world famous artists". This guy/group (Dragon) should have they had some awesome tunes. Their best of still gets played by me now and then. A little scratched and worn in places but that just adds to the over all effect. Frankston pub Nepean Highway 88-89 killed 'em live even did some Beatles covers and I danced alone sober.

Sheer class. Makes a mistake at 4:51 and owns it - “my fault “. It’s a more complex, elongated version and of everyone on stage he is the one most used to singing it the original way.
*_Who is the female back-up vocalist in the black jacket and lilac scarf? She's amazing! I'd love to know who she is and the career she's had in music since those days!_*
@@Lanewaymusic thanks. But please note that I am not talking about the black woman - I'm talking about the one standing next to her in a _black jacket_ and lilac scarf. COVID-19 killed the live music industry and concert touring, and although things are gradually getting back to normal, there could be another wave or variant heading our way from China or the US, or so I hear.

The master Marc Hunter at his best. RIP.
He's buried at Gerringong on the NSW south coast
I was on the same plane that Dragon were on from Sydney to Melbourne in about '76 and they lived up to the rock star image on that flight..
Great Crystal clear footage as if Mark is still with us

Alex Pertout on percussion!! nice !!
Went to early RIP 👌😍😍😍🇦🇺❤️❤️❤️
So this was a sound check at Tabcorp Park in Melton? Not taking anything away from Mark Hunter's excellent performance, but where was the audience?
Sound check is usually done a few hours before the audience is allowed into the venue.
Marc hunter was good singer but, bit sad that he passed away l will miss him . god bless him .
There is a bit of the AC/DC sound in this, Marc was an excellent singer
The boss ❤🎉arrives 🎉
The same concert then where Shirl did his sound check.
