Now that I think about it, Nautilus and Pyke have very similar backstories.
Nautilus never got his revenge, but Pyke's is unending
Naut's lore was changed he still doesn't have much lore but Riot basically just gave Pyke his his old lore pretty much that's why they are so similar. Naut right now is as far as we know just a sea monster/god we don't know if he was ever a man or if he's a monster or a spirit or what he is all there is to him right now is that sailors must throw a gold coin into the ocean before their voyage or else naut will come and destory their ship. Naut was as far as I know mist recently seen in one of Miss Fortune's stories where she went to talk some shit out with a bunch of pirate crews that followed GP and she set them all up to die by Naut or something like that.
Fun fact Fizz being the shithead he is sometimes will steal the coin dropped off by a ships captain which in turn the ship will get attacked by naut thinking the ship didn't drop a coin

@@hiraeth1967 I mean Fizz is infamous for sinking ships while on them with his other antics and basically is really hated by sailors. Also there's the fact that Fizz isn't even a child ,he's centuries old and immortal, so Fizz is responsible for basically killing many people just for fun and choosing to ignore consequences

Naut and Pyke are respectable individuals in lore, they met the same fate "betrayed" pyke always shares the coin and gives no respect to traitors, Give a coin to the sea so that naut doesn't drag your ship to the bottom of the ground.
Both good men betrayed.
In Legends of Runaterra there is a card that talks about a letter writen by one of the members of Pyke's crew that say they tried to save Pyke but they couldn't because the Jaul-fish was too big and the ship was sinking so they had no choice but to cut his line.
By the way, the guy who wrote that letter was killed by Pyke

Weird how an crazy undead fisherman with hunger for vengence teached me about letting go and avoid grudge

@@SophisticatedHermit so are hansel and gretel bro, fiction expresses our real emotions and experiences in a creative way, many of them teaching important lessons. Pykes story came from a real person’s thoughts, and those thoughts manifested as a result of their feelings and experiences.

I love pyke, if I could come back to league, id try to main him. But the chances of me getting into this toxic pool of waste is very slim to put it mildly
For some reason, Pyke reminds me of a Bilgewater version of Kalista
To be fair this is because Ilaoi was calming his madness with sea magics, so well, without that youd have a madman constantly questioning weather or not his list even has an end or if he even adds it or if it just appears.

it is disappointing that pyke is not like what he was originally supposed to be: this insane schizo maniac ghost with a never ending list, whose only motive is vengeance. he isnt supposed be able to talk just casually with fucking illaoi and shit, and fucking join sentinels and shit. sentinel pyke is the lamest shit i have ever seen and heard in my entire life.
Illaoi used her magic to quiet the voices in pyke's head so he can talk and stuff

@@yektatumok8625 He's still a psychotic killer, just like how he was in his champ teaser, just not right now as Illaoi has helped quiet the voices a bit so he's more reasonable

It doesn't go against what has already been set-up but it adds new layers to his character for example a lot of his interactions with miss Fortune.
He can tell she's a good person who cares about those around her and for those who are weaker so she basically isn't the type of person who cut his line but at the end of the day she's a captain so she's on the list however at the very least he hoped that she was at the bottom so he probably wouldn't have to get to her for a long while. ( keep in mind he doesn't say that he's going to move her position on the list. Wherever she is wherever she is but he just hopes because of the actual person she is she's at the end)
His killer instinct and the voices in his head are still winning out (hence why he doesn't remove her from the list or agreed to make an arrangement with her) but it shows that he's not completely one-dimensional. It's an amazing way to take his character.
All the themes of his character are still there he's still a killer and he still hasn't infinitely growing list
