That dove bar, particularly the sensitive skin fragrance free bar, has been recommended to me by my doctor as a great option for cleansing below the neck for gals 😊 I have never used it for the face, but it is extremely gentle. I am surprised Hyram didn’t look at the ingredients on that one, it’s been known to be non stripping and non irritating! Dove does say this one is suitable on the face, but take that with a grain of salt.
It can be a great option if nothing else is working! I don’t thinking it’s the worst at all, moreso that I think there are better options out there 😄 But there are many who have seen incredible results, and if that’s you, then keep using it! ❤️

That's bc its actually not soap! Its just a solid version of synthetic detergents (sounds scary but its the same thing that's in cleansers). This means the ph isn't too high :)
I'm just a little disappointed you didn't even look at the ingredients of the Dove soap and give your take, but I'm biased as a lifelong Dove soap user who also used to wash my face with it to great results. It's such a gentle and hydrating soap bar, so I feel like lumping it in with like, Ivory or classic soaps isn't quite fair.

I love dove soap, I spent years trying different cleansers and my skin was super dry and acne prone. Nothing was working, then one of my friends told me to try Dove soap, I went out and bought it! It cleared up my skin in a week, it was moisturised and didn't cause any irritation, I have been using it for almost 6 years and it hasn't ruined my moisture barrier at all, it actually improved it. I think Jassy may have gotten dryness from other products she was using with the dove soap (like the toner ect). I just use the soap and moisturise with the CereVe moisturiser!
fragrance literally ruined my skin at a certain point i couldn’t even use moisturizer that’s how sensitized my skin had become. it took me 3 months to recover my skin barrier with the most minimalistic skincare routine and lots of ceramides. thankfully my skin has recovered and isnt as sensitive to a small amount of fragrance especially in wash off treatments but i strongly avoid fragrance in moisturizers and serums especially citrus
@@addybaby7510 there’s this amazing UK brand it’s called “A.florence skincare”, they have this ceramide and centella moisturizer for compromised skin barrier called “Skin Rehab”, it literally saved my skin. i used the light version because i have oily skin but they have “Skin Rehab Rich” which is for dryer skin types. it’s such an amazing cream, a little expensive (around 50$) but absolutely worth it. the light version makes your skin feel like velvet and is a perfect primer before makeup. i also used a fragrance free gentle cleanser from kiehls but it wasn’t anything special, just any gentle cleanser will do. after my barrier healed i slowly started adding actives starting with niacinamide.

It’s loaded with omega fatty acids, 4 different ceramides, and cholesterol. Basically what you most need when you want to fix ur moisture barrier. It’s also very hydrating and thick. If you’ve got that, a good moisturizer and wear sunscreen, you should be noticing ur skin calming down in about a week.

Actually dove's bar soap specifically.. is soap free. It's moisturizing and gentle. I don't personally use it because i can't find the unscented version in my country, but i use the pink one for my body and i love it even in the cold winter.

The neutrogena face cream she mentions is amazing! It works so well over serums too and actually lasts all day. I don’t like heavy creams either but also sometimes gel creams just don’t last on my skin. This stuff is amazing, specially for drugstore!

I think they're better for daytime use. I personally use more occlusive moisturizers at night and lighter ones (such as gel-based or water creams) during the day when I don't want my skin to feel so "greasy."
With the right occlusive ingredients (like silicones) they function just as well for preventing TEWL! That being said, I prefer using really rich, hydrating moisturizers overnight to boost my hydration as much as possible 😄🙏
When I saw the Dove bar, I immediately want to know what you thought because Dove advertises that you can wash and have beautiful skin on you face with their soap due to their “moisturizing cream” formula. But I’ve never known anyone who actually used it as a facial cleanser.
The unscented is great for your face if you are severely strapped for cash but not sure about it anymore I’m 48 and only use it in sticky humid weather when I’m really oily but back in the day....
Yes I love so much that you talk about fragrance. I have skin reaction to many fragrance having struggle with eczema all my life (even some products that don't have fragrance and are considered hypoallergenic causes me reactions). Love being more informed about the ingredients in products !!

My dermatologist told me to use dove bar soap and prescribed me Adapalene gel (way back in the day when you needed an rX for it) yet told me i didn’t need to moisturize and never told me to use sunscreen. Idk how he’s doing but sjdjdjdjddjdjjdjdkdk
On the bar soap (as someone who uses that exact same product): 1. This is not a regular soap, it is Dove Sensitive. Most soaps need certain ingredients that make its pH basic to stay solid, which is why you don't want them on your face. However, this soap is very soft and melts fast, that should tell you something about its composition. If you really want to make it acidic, add a drop of diluted 10% Salicylic Acid (literally $1 would last you a month, plus that shit fights blackheads even as a MILD wash off treatment) 2. Dove Sensitive is fragrance free and the ingredients are better than most facial washes out there. 3. It does not give you a squeaky clean stripped feeling. When you first use this, you'll immediately feel the difference between it and regular soap. Some of the affordable facial washes Hyram has recommended are more drying than this. 4. Y'all have no issue dipping your fingers into balms but soaps are just no? You do realize the product that you use to clean yourself has ingredients to keep bacteria at bay 🤦♀️ Also why y'all not keeping your soaps in a cheapass soap box that drains anyway? 5. The cost for a large corporation to mass produce a simple non-stripping cleanser is MINISCULE. There is no reason why it shouldn't be cheap at all, so don't wrinkle your nose on a product just because it's not from some instagrammable fancy ass brand like ~𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆~ 🙄

Oh Dove soap 😶 i just bought one last week and my whole face was peeling off right after i washed my face, so i threw it away. Note: I used to use it like 2 years ago and stopped.. and my skin never reacted to it like it did this time, so idk if they changed the formula or if MY SKIN changed.

Stop using it if it irritates you. Also if you have contact dermatitis take a break from skin care and makeup (still use a gentle cleanser and sunscreen/moisturizer ) for a few days. I get contact dermatitis sometimes from new skincare products and eye makeup so I know this works from experience.

This past year I have been dealing with depression and finally needed to face and repair past traumas. My birthday was yesterday, and last year I didn't celebrate because I didn't feel worth celebrating.
This year I spent the day with my boyfriend, had a party (with my family and him) and are lots of cake!
This time last year I never wore makeup or washed my face or hardly even brushed my hair.
Now I have a skincare routine, my curls are poppin and I have never been happier.

I wonder, are gel-like moisturizers occlusive enough to truly lock in the hydration and benefits from the previous steps, or do they risk your skin drying out overnight? 🙁
I think they're better for daytime use. I personally use more occlusive moisturizers at night and lighter ones (such as gel-based or water creams) during the day when I don't want my skin to feel so "greasy."
With the right occlusive ingredients (like silicones) they function just as well for preventing TEWL! That being said, I prefer using really rich, hydrating moisturizers overnight to boost my hydration as much as possible 😄🙏

When I saw the Dove bar, I immediately want to know what you thought because Dove advertises that you can wash and have beautiful skin on you face with their soap due to their “moisturizing cream” formula. But I’ve never known anyone who actually used it as a facial cleanser.
The unscented is great for your face if you are severely strapped for cash but not sure about it anymore I’m 48 and only use it in sticky humid weather when I’m really oily but back in the day....

Yes I love so much that you talk about fragrance. I have skin reaction to many fragrance having struggle with eczema all my life (even some products that don't have fragrance and are considered hypoallergenic causes me reactions). Love being more informed about the ingredients in products !!

exactly i don’t think hyram knows what he’s talking about my dermatologist recommended it to me. my skin was at its worst when i was using the products hyram recommended which my derm told me were not helpful

My dermatologist told me to use dove bar soap and prescribed me Adapalene gel (way back in the day when you needed an rX for it) yet told me i didn’t need to moisturize and never told me to use sunscreen. Idk how he’s doing but sjdjdjdjddjdjjdjdkdk

On the bar soap (as someone who uses that exact same product):
1. This is not a regular soap, it is Dove Sensitive. Most soaps need certain ingredients that make its pH basic to stay solid, which is why you don't want them on your face. However, this soap is very soft and melts fast, that should tell you something about its composition. If you really want to make it acidic, add a drop of diluted 10% Salicylic Acid (literally $1 would last you a month, plus that shit fights blackheads even as a MILD wash off treatment)
2. Dove Sensitive is fragrance free and the ingredients are better than most facial washes out there.
3. It does not give you a squeaky clean stripped feeling. When you first use this, you'll immediately feel the difference between it and regular soap. Some of the affordable facial washes Hyram has recommended are more drying than this.
4. Y'all have no issue dipping your fingers into balms but soaps are just no? You do realize the product that you use to clean yourself has ingredients to keep bacteria at bay 🤦♀️ Also why y'all not keeping your soaps in a cheapass soap box that drains anyway?
5. The cost for a large corporation to mass produce a simple non-stripping cleanser is MINISCULE. There is no reason why it shouldn't be cheap at all, so don't wrinkle your nose on a product just because it's not from some instagrammable fancy ass brand like ~𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆~ 🙄

I only use dove and let me say in sa two dove soaps are like 45 rand which can buy you like 4 loafs on bread😡 but for me dove soap has always worked I dont get any pimples but atleast twice a week I use a annique cleanser. But idk if it works for everyone

Note: I used to use it like 2 years ago and stopped.. and my skin never reacted to it like it did this time, so idk if they changed the formula or if MY SKIN changed.

Omg I’ve been using the exact dove soap on my face in the video and recently switched to Seba Med ph 5.5 (they have a bunch of skincare and hair care products) and omg my skin isn’t as dry, but I didn’t know that dove bar soap was bad.

Stop using it if it irritates you. Also if you have contact dermatitis take a break from skin care and makeup (still use a gentle cleanser and sunscreen/moisturizer ) for a few days. I get contact dermatitis sometimes from new skincare products and eye makeup so I know this works from experience.
