This is like a twisted version of the story I was told as a child. The version I knew is the small pine was considered imperfect and mocked by the other pines for having stunted growth due to the lack of sunlight and being far to small to be picked for the Royal Christmas tree, but was uprooted and planted in a pot for the Royals woodcutter's cottage for Christmas as it was the perfect size for his small cottage.

I feel like they believe quality can be thrown out the window if you have a semi-decent heartwarming message because that's just The Vibes surrounding the holidays. Seriously though, I'm just stunned by the lack of any quality animation here, truly. Good find, Phelous!
Phelous deserves to be more popular, and I will die on that hill. He's one of the few reviewers who's still consistently funny, especially since most reviewers don't even try to be funny these days. That scene with them setting up the banquet hall had me pausing the video because I was laughing so much. Phelous deserves to be as popular as Dazz Reviews or Sabersparks (He's definitely funnier than both of them).
I personally think he's more open-minded than Saber when it comes to so-bad-it's-good animations. These are my favourite reviews he does, because he almost always manages to derive something enjoyable from them instead of just trashing them, like most reviewers would

In the 13 years I've been watching Phelous, this is only the second time that he reviewed something I've actually watched, except I've been waiting for this one. I found this VHS back in 2019 at a thrift store and immediately bought it to add to my collection. I had never seen it before, so I watched it later that night and was laughing my ass off at how terrible it was. I kept meaning to tell you about this tape and every year it slipped my mind, so I'm so glad you found it!
It's more or less a take on the parable of the Good Samaritan with a bit of the parable of the goats and lambs so that is where the religious connection is.
This is somehow less creepier than the rifftrax short with the human faced silent Christmas trees. That short is nightmare fuel. Try showing that to a group of kids, they wouldn’t want a tree if they looked like that

Trees can also communicate with one another via root systems and fungus. One article said that trees can even redistribute nutrients to other trees that need them.
The faces on the trees only make me grimace as I keep thinking the Great Deku Tree wants me to get rid of his curse only for him to die on me anyway. Also if I may make a recommendation for a future Christmas cartoon review, there's one I remember called ALIENS FIRST CHRISTMAS. Looked like a JETSONS knockoff & I only remember it for the alien neighbors & their weird take on a Christmas tree that would warm a Goth's heart.

@1:34 I recently read in article about how some plants will produce airborne sounds when stressed and those sounds contain information about the plant. Trees can also communicate with one another via root systems and fungus. One article said that trees can even redistribute nutrients to other trees that need them.

I didn't realize I didn't need the answer to a question nobody ever asked.
The faces on the trees only make me grimace as I keep thinking the Great Deku Tree wants me to get rid of his curse only for him to die on me anyway.
Also if I may make a recommendation for a future Christmas cartoon review, there's one I remember called ALIENS FIRST CHRISTMAS. Looked like a JETSONS knockoff & I only remember it for the alien neighbors & their weird take on a Christmas tree that would warm a Goth's heart.
