  • Welcome to another instalment of Psychology Skill of the Week with school Psychologist Dr Carla Humphrys.
    This week Dr Humphrys talks about the term Defusion, in relation to noticing our thoughts.
    As a reminder, Defusion is the ability to create some distance between ourselves and our thoughts, instead of getting caught up in them and allowing them to dictate what we do. It’s not about getting rid of the thoughts; it’s about managing them differently when they arise. This is a relatively straightforward exercise, taken from Hayes et al. 1999 and Harris 2009.
